Welcome back to another day in the life of a software engineer in New York City! Today we're building a payments system to handle incoming + outgoing payments for one of my recent full stack applications. I'm also kicking off a new build for an upcoming project that sits alongside my soon-to-be-released Discord server ❤️

I'm your fan, Jacob, I've been a front-end developer for 1 and a half years and now I'm learning Ts because of you. Thank youuuuuuu bro
Let’s GOOO
Jacob.... I've been hooked on your videos since I've found you on TH-cam. I've always been interested in web/software development but burnt myself out pretty bad and haven't touched it in 3 going on 4 years. I love that you mentioned no-code. I honestly think it is going to be the way for most people in the future with companies like Webflow, bubble, Flutterflow, etc. As long as you understand business logic the options are endless. Keep the videos coming!
I get so much motivation from your videos, it’s actually crazy
Loving the content man! Especially since you started content in NYC!
Great video! Also great frequency of video uploads, you are an animal! Keep it up dude!
Super stoked for 30k! Can't wait to see what you have planned
Great video! I am excited to see what this spring/summer brings for ya!
Dude, that bagel in the beginning looked phenomenal.. xD
I love watching your videos bro keeps me motivated im still learning its been about a month and a bit now ive learned alot in that time and i love it hopefully in the future can land me a job im in no rush though shot for your positive energy bro chur chur ❤️😎
Love the intro, it is a good way to set the mood for the whole vlog ;)
As always quality video from Jacob, big huggs from Poland
Another one! Really excited to see what's coming up for you! Can't wait to get into the discord community🔥
Let’s gooooooo
Really excited for Discord, can't wait!
Same!
Hey Jacob, I appreciate the technology’s you list in your videos. I see you’re a big fan for TS and I strongly believe you’ll enjoy DrizzleORM. Otherwise keep it up bro you’re killing it.
Keep ‘em coming Jacob
❤️
Super excited about the discord community. Stay awesome!🔥
Same here!
Great vid like always, I would go the express route!
Another one 🔥🔥, Great video Jacob!!
Appreciate it!!
You're killing it!
Yoooo thanks!
Another great video! Keep up the good work
Thanks bro!
looks so cool! its amazing woahh
awesome dude from NZ make me love Tuna and Rice. You should try one! 🤤
Buy a cheap kurig for the office and bring your own pods. Way better than instant coffee. Military doesn’t provide everything for us so sometimes we come together and chip in for QOL around the office.
Another one 🔥
Whenever I hear that intro theme song..... chefs kiss!!
👨🍳
The king of bagels 🔥
damn, the consistency is crazy! Is this your own startup?
Yeah boss!
Hey Jacob, would you ever consider making a video or a dev talk about how to handle auth and persisting login/expiring login? I’m working on creating my first public site and I’m struggling to find good resources on standards and best practices on handling auth/login state
Sure!
Good shit.
sick vlogs!
Yo thanks!
Hey, curious what are you using for User Authentication? Firebase auth or any other third parties? Following along your video, you mentioned that you are using NestJs for backend. I checked its official documentation and has its own auth module, but, do you think that just relying on JWT is secure enough for production?
Passport
I really like your videos. Can I ask which framework would you recommend to learn for a complete beginner in backend, Fastify or Nest?
I like nest
Do you utilize TRPC or GraphQL generated types for both the frontend and backend to communicate with each other?
I have generated types through swagger autogenerated to my frontend
idk if it's just me but your vlogs make me want to become a DEV!!! 😂 🔥frfr
Let’s gooooo
Hi Jacob, I'm a second-year computer science and engineering student. I love web development. As I was born in a very remote village i had very less access to computers and the Internet. I started coding in 2021, and I have learned many things since I started and constantly studying new things. I want to work as a full-stack developer in New York. I don't really have much idea on how to land a job as a full-stack developer in NY. Can you 🙏please make a video about the process required and guide me through it. It will be very helpful for me, and people like me.
Really like your videos it's very knowledgeable. Thank you, brother.
Hey Jacob, love the videos. Quick question, what was that theming library you had mentioned in the video after MUI Joy?
Shadcn
What do you like to do for host postgres? aws, gpc, digitalocean?
Sometimes aws or railway
Hi Jacob, most likely gonna get my MacBook tomorrow and trying to decide on how much storage to get, just wondering how much you have.
Any is fine. Mine is in video description
Time to switch the framework of my backend.
can I ask what programming languages you know other than JS/TS ? thanks.
Jump on my LinkedIn
Hi Jacob, what happened with Kiki, the other startup? So pumped you are working on your own projects full time now :)
More info to come soon ❤️
I see lots of people use next.js for backend as well. What is the advantage to still setup and manage nest.js?
Nest js gives you A LOT more tools
Hey Jacob, WHat is your VScode theme name ? Thanks
Night owl
Who else enjoyed the hat cam appearance? 😂
Do you have any resources to learn NestJs that you can’t point me to? Currently trying to learn it for my job.
Go to the official website
Hi jacoub I’m very like your videos keep going 👏❤ I’m worked in E payments industry However, if you have availability to share with me you project i need to see this and learn for you experience please ?
Hi jacob, i just got my laptop and was wondering what software you use to code on.
VSCode
Will you make a sick coding setup like the one you had in New Zealand?
That’s the goal!
Where are you deploying your backend & db?
Been experimenting with railway recently
Which software are you using for coding in this video?
Vscode
Very good content, both in terms of video quality and software content.🚀 It will be a pity if the videos will become less frequent over time. I'm so used to this pace. 😂
Haha let's goooo
Do you just survive on bagels and coffee all day? 😂
Loving the vlogs!
Yeah dude 😎
Nowadays I open youtube just to check if your new video is up
Hahaha
First comment I like the consistency
Always uploading awesome videos
Let's goooooooo
good stuff
wondering whether this is the new thing or if you're still at kiki?
More info to come later 🤝
Wouldn't Lemonsqueezy be the better option for an international project as a merchent of record?
Who knows
Sure, there is no right or wrong. For subscription based model maybe not ideal. It mostly about convenience, but you give control to someone else.
what about node express ?
Nest is like a super version of express
@@JacobSucksAtCode so i got this project I’m working on with nodejs. After watching the video i decided to move it to nestjs instead.
At least one bagel per video
The rules
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Which architecture? Microservices?
Essentially micro services but building within nest
SUBSCRIBE YOOO
Hello I'm from India.

My brother in Christ, how many times are you gonna leak your password keystrokes in your videos! People on the internet are malicious. Gotta stay careful!
Don’t worry I change passwords often and don’t show the full thing haha
