Console looks great! I would put a mirror in that nook as it's the perfect size...I think a desk would be crowded there and odd as the desk would face the wall and the couch faces the other direction. Fun to follow along with you setting it up, challenges and all, which is so real! xo
I agree with those saying mirror in that spot, but I would even think just a tall plant. Adding a desk there feels like it would make the room very "heavy" on that side with the couch, console table, and kitchen cabinets. It would feel a bit unbalanced and over crowded, even with a tv and buffet on the other side.
Your place is really coming along nicely. The nook behind the couch looks to me like it is meant to be for a tv with the couch being placed on the other wall. I'm not sure if you considered that before deciding where to put it. The console table is the perfect size and looks great. Great job assembling everything!
Desk looks nice. Needs a large lamp and medium to large vase with flowers. Someone mentioned height in the comments and i totally agree. Couch can be pulled away from the wall with rug under anchoring the lounge. Ciuch doesnt have to be up against the wall
DEFINITELY a full length mirror next to the console table! It will balance out the space, make it look bigger, brighter and ultimately nicer than a desk. A desk and then the tv console and coffee table will make it look clutter and with too many pieces of furniture! Also, the decor on the console would actually look super nice without the little plant. You can find a better spot for it, Im sure. But overall, your apartment is looking so so cute! Cant wait to see the final result. Also, that little pillow is so pretty!
The table is a great size. It will help to stop the couch moving right up against to pillar. Love your styling. We’re having a cold snap here in Australia, so it’s nice to see some summery content.
Hi Rachel! Love from Richmond Melbourne ❤ I'm curious why you picked D.C to create this chapter of your life? I adore your videos and cannot wait to see this new chapter unfold 🎉❤😊
LOVE the table behind the sofa, i think you'll have so much fun changing up the decor on it! the corner beside it screams "place for a christmas tree" to me and i agree with someone else's comment about getting something with height there to change it up from the sofa and table 😄
I am shocked that your mobile phone was broken after only having it for a couple of years. I have had my iphone 5 model for the last 8 years and it still worked well up a few weeks ago. All phones should function properly for a lot longer than 2 - 3 years. The console table behind the lounge and your new fresh flowers look fabulous, well done. Have a great week :)
i think in the corner near the lounge a nice tall plant would look good or a floor lamp would also look great the new place is comming along nice and love seeing you make it a home
next to the console table, I think you should add a big floor lamp and a cute side table next to the couch it will fill up the place and add so much homie feeling to the space
I’m so excited that you are starting to be able to decorate. So much fun! Now I want to move and do all that again as well 🥰 Not sure if you remember me. I’m the Dutch girl in Australia waiting for her PR for almost 6 years already… Guess what happened 😮 I got it!!! I finally have my PR, I’m so excited! The world is opening up for me again 🥰💕 Good luck in this beautiful new adventure for you 🥂
Oh, and boil a cup of vinegar with water (full kettle) to try to get rid of the smell. That’s if it’s on the kettle and it’s not the water… Also good to do that to descale the kettle :)
Table should slightly go over abit to right and get a floor lamp for the corner part on the right as it's particular then mirror or small lamb then get bigger things like pictures etc or move flowers on the small table . Also, suggestion may be a small troll for the kitchen for kitchen aid. If it's not going in the pantry, have more kitchen space
@rachelleea do you have window in bedroom, then yes that would work. Keep the office out of the lounge entertainment area. Perfect...let the mirror reflect the light inward. You got this.
@@rachelleea Yes I agree, the mirror would balance that space perfectly, you'll definitely need more room to spread out for your desk. Thank you for your posts, I always click on them before all the others! Also I bought your budget template and can't thank you enough, I've tried so many different one's but this one in my opinion is the best, my finances are finally in order and it feels great!
@@jenniferwright2855 I do, theres a window in the bedroom, Its also a pretty good sized room that i could fit a desk in there too. I really should start working on that area next 😊💛🧡
Hi Lady. Congrats on the beautiful apartment. Just a suggestion if you have minimal lighting but for mood lighting you could do a nice swivel floor lamp. But the table lamp would be cute too! Enjoy!
Good morning from a chilly Perth 🇦🇺 today. 6 degrees C. Our first properly cold day this winter. I vote a desk in the corner. Put a mirror in the bedroom. I also agree with the comment that the couch doesn't have to be hard against the wall. If you bring it forward about 1m it might fix your rug proportions for you too.
Since you asked for help, I would have done a bookshelf cabinet behind the couch instead for space to add collected items and for books too. My suggestion will be to do a little corner nook, like a bench with a round table, and the wall can be a collected gallery of old and new frames or a mirror with battery-operated scones Well, there are many things you could do but in the end is what makes you feel happy. I will suggest to keep browsing for inspiration to find your style. I recommend watching youtube videos from apartment therapy and alexandra gater they have a lot of apartment interior design content. I hope this helps. 🤗
Love the new furniture pieces but you really need to utilize this living room space better - u have everything placed in one corner….- the console should be centered in that alcove and the couch if u keep it there should be pulled out more - never have it up against a wall and or put it on the other wall opposite so u do not face the “doors” since symmetry is needed to make a more cozy feel and then u can view tv from wall above console. Also, in regards to the area rug do not go too small - the larger size mentioned will make overall room from couch to the pillar area feel balanced 😊
My console/sofa set up is just like yours, except my console is like a ‘Lack’ style, but it’s made of salvaged wood from a Mexican church. That doesn’t matter; the reason I mention this is, for my secret tip. I keep a bolt of fabric & some rarely used things under the table `cuz the sofa hides it & provides some storage space. I think a desk would feel cluttered. Very pretty flowers & pink mixer was made for the grey kitchen What a great price for a TV! I think all your shopping is tempting your BF!! 🤣
Definitely a mirror in that corner. A desk would be too tight in there as many others are saying, plus would you want to be looking at the wall when you are sitting there?
I got it from cotton on but 2 years ago. I know each year they come out with similar styles. I picked up a black one last year but I’m not sure if they still have the blue stripe available 💛💛
Would you consider using bottled water in the kettle, or pouring the filtered water in to see if that gets rid of the smell? Love love love your videos! I'd go for a mirror as the desk might feel too cramped in that space
Costco always ✨tells you✨what you need. Also I had that large ikea mirror and loved it! I had to sell it when I moved, but I actually made a small profit because ikea had nearly doubled the price in the interim. 🙈
Rachel with the smell of the water in the kettle, tried boiling it with some plain white vinegar and boil it a few times. Still the vinegar smell leaves it. 😊
I my last video I moved the couch around into different positions to figure it all out, when its in the alcove you face right into two doors and its too off center for me 😊🩷🧡💛
I have been watching you since more than 7 - 8 years now, the earliest days of your channel. Quick question, was the move to USA easier if one doesn’t have a job? And is it worth it now (not because of your partner part but generally as a country and environment).
Thank you for being here for such a long time 💛 It’s my understanding that in order to move to the US you have to have a job. In Canada and other similar commonwealth countries you can get a working holiday visa which doesn’t require a job but for the US you have to have employment. I did the O1 visa which is based on my social media job. I had to have letters from my management and my company to support my proof of work here. Lots and lots of documents to prove I can and have work. My petition was 800 pages long of supporting documentation. The US is tough to get into but now that I’m here I love it. I’m finding my job is easier now I’m here, the system to set up to live is so difficult, banks, tax etc but once you’re set up the system is easier in my opinion. Theres a lot more options here for things. Overall based on my work the move was 100% worth it 💛
And couchgate continues! If you are leaving the couch on that side of the apartment I would move it towards the kitchen to 'fit' the alcove and then centre the console to it. You could put the mirror or a plant on the part of wall that jutts out.
I think you need something with some height in that corner so a mirror would be good!
Console looks great! I would put a mirror in that nook as it's the perfect size...I think a desk would be crowded there and odd as the desk would face the wall and the couch faces the other direction. Fun to follow along with you setting it up, challenges and all, which is so real! xo
I think a mirror or tall faux tree or plant would look nice.
I think a bookcase the same color as your console might go well on that space. I love your mocing series
Oh i loved this vlog! I love your glow and happiness now. You shine bright like a diamond 🥹❣️ Love from Sweden

A big mirror, I agree with the comment - a desk would be too squished in.
DEFINITELY a full length mirror next to the console table! It will balance out the space, make it look bigger, brighter and ultimately nicer than a desk. I think a mirror would be perfect on that corner, I love how the apartment is turning out 😍😍😍
Mirror in that space would work better.
Love the video and your appartment coming together! I would definitely go for a long mirror!
Love how the home is Turing out and also the flowers are beautiful a full length mirror would look lovely and have you worked on more of the rug ??💛
Lovely decor and such a nice feeling to be “home”!!!!
Might be a little tight for desk. Maybe mirror, depends what it is reflecting.
The flowers look amazing. Your home is so pretty.
Rachel the place looks great. I think mirror on that wall would be really good.
Your island as a desk is best. Just get a floor length mirror for the space next to the couch 👌🏻

Mirror would look great. And maybe a plant next to the TV then?
Thank you for the video ❤
I think that nook next to the couch is designed for the bike 😊
Or mirror. Marshalls has tall mirror pretty often

Definitely a mirror beside the console. Looking forward to seeing what exercise bike you have and if you like it. Noticed it wasn’t linked here yet. 😊
Hey there. I think a mirror would look great there, but you would have to try it. Have a great day. Flowers are beautiful.

Desk in the little corner for sure…mirror for the other side of the room
Console is perfect
Looks great with all your things on it
Really enjoying this series Rachel. Thumbnail is good.
I think you should do a cabinet/shelf combo beside the table (like you had in your office in Toronto). It could look like a built in. 🤔
I think a tall-standing lamp would suit that area really well and have it next to the console table
next to the console table, I think you should add a big floor lamp and a cute side table next to the couch it will fill up the place and add so much homie feeling to the space
It would nice if you put a tall lamp and bold art work behind the couch.

ikeaaa the greatest store
i've only been to that one in the video but im wondering if they all have an identical "get you lost" layout? haha
Since you can't see the shelf of the console table, you could store some off-season shoes there!
Hi, Rachel !!! 😀👋 I Really love the kitchen, Take care !!!
Maybe a floor lamp for that space next to the couch/console? All looks great otherwise 😊
A large plant would be nice by the table
Hi. I agree with Theresa Marshall. Will look great.
All the best.
You should put a tall standing lamp in the corner instead and for the counter behind the couch you can change up the decor as you want!
