@@asim21yearsago27 Lol, if you think EA is dropping money into Batuu marketing a year after release, then I think you have more faith in Batuu than EA does. TH-cam Sim people tend to get more viewers and better money if they hate on packs, particularly a villainized pack like Batuu.
Their worst mistake was making it actually Star Wars instead of an amusement park you could take your family to visit.

@@mariskaswart I think Galaxy's End the theme park would have been better to adapt than having your sim randomly be in star wars for a bit. Lightsabers that don't actually cut things off? They're just toys. Your Sim can't have the force? It's not real. But I get people would have also liked a Disney princess section or something.
I have zero interest in Batuu, but James’s energy always makes me feel better to get up and get my day going.

1 year later and I still don't understand why they thought that limiting this pack to three lots and the only thing to do is doing repetitive missions over and over again was a good idea.
Exactly. And the missions are filled with loading screens because everything makes you go back and forth between the three neighborhoods for two second tasks.
Disney paid EA to promote one of their theme parks, but EA itself wasn't that interested in it. So they made the minimal to keep them happy and so Disney couldn't complain. Just a guess. Personally, I would rather have their family-friendly asses as far away from my favorite games as possible, thank you very much.

When I went to Disney World this year, I kept saying "Ah Batuu!" as we walked around the Star Wars area.
I still think the Sims and Disney should have made a park game/expansion pack with a theme park you could visit instead of Batuu. Like have three small areas one being the Star Wars theme park, another being the princess palace and the third being whatever and then you visit Disney on vacation in the game and have all those Disney dresses and stuff we have hundreds of cc content for.

I might be alone in this, but I actually would love a Batuu re-do that makes it an actual playable world! I agree about apartments. They don't have to let us build all new buildings, but let us have apartment buildings that we can live in/build with set walls/windows, so they don't have to actually give us round walls. Also more actual alien species, not costumes. I just want to live out my Star Wars dream life!
Yeah, i would have loved to have lots available to build a little Batuu house or retail store or restaurant, maybe some curved walls, Force Powers, and the ability to keep using normal spellcaster magic or whatever your Sim already knows in Batuu, and be able to bring your normal inventory and stuff with you to live or stay there. I wish they hadn't locked off so many of the normal Sims options while in Batuu, and vice versa. Pet Lothcats and whatever type of beastie Salacious Crumb (the little cackling dude Jabba had) is would have been cool to have too. Milkable Banthas? Sigh.

Only James goes to the resistance while wearing first order armor and wonders why everybody is being mean. lol I would love a Batuu refresh where they changed out rabbit holes for lots and did lots of improvements. I feel like it probably didn't sell well enough for that though.
I think if they at least added one or two lots to live on it would already make it much more enjoyable.
I actually liked the Let's Play. Especially because I wasn't planning on buying the pack, but I still like Star Wars. So I enjoyed watching you play it. Too bad you stopped :(

Same! But the Sims community would piss and moan about it like they usually do if EA chose to refresh it.
i'm a sw fan as well, but i think they should refresh other packs first. not because the sims community will be pissed, but because other packs affect the gameplay more. like dine out, for example. jtb is a pack i, frankly, enjoy quite a lot, but it's not a pack that you play that much or that integrates into the game as well as dine out or some other similar packs.
Hopefully they will just update it after the other packs, all I want are some force powers and I am happy, and some lots to live/build on and open the clothes options
I'd love it too but there's some other packs out there that need more love, unfortunately. This is, after all, completely functional. Which... is more than can be said for some of the other packs.
This pack really, really really needs a refresh, tbh.
I still believe "The Sims x Star Wars" has so much potential, even within the Sims 4.
...But it probably would've been better as a spinoff. :/
Imagine instead of a park it was a planet you could live in, not only can they finally have a home for the Sixam people but you could live in a completely new environment, have new plants maybe add a few new customization options for animals to make them more alien like. So much potential yet they made this crap.
Yes. If it was a standalone game like Medieval was for Sims 3, that'd be so much better.

Honestly though, Batuu is a surprisingly awesome pack for builders. A fun build challenge I like to do with it is to randomly generate how many Batuu items to use per room between 1 and 10, other than that you can just use any other packs or build challenges you like. The "Yeeeah! Batuu!" Build challenge 😂
We love how James is so honest about Batuu and rips it to shreds with no fear of it, James and his 'ahhh Batuuu yeaaaah' in every episode is my favourite thing ever

The problem with Batuu is that it’s not really a game pack to focus on Star Wars. It’s a pack to promote Disney’s new Galaxys edge park. I’ve been to Disney worlds galaxy edge and it’s amazing. I love star wars but this pack is more about the park than actual Star Wars

What makes me so sad about this Gamepack is that I think a Star Wars Game similar to the Sims Medieval would have been a fun idea. But no, Batuu exists now and my hopes of getting the Medieval game play in a different setting are once again destroyed.
exactly what crossed my mind just now.. this could've easily been a separate game, with much more details and gameplay. for the sims its just not working bc its halfassed like every other pack they do. i liked playing medieval and an expansion on it would be really cool

This is a pack that really needs a refresh, there was so much potential and the build/buy was great.💜
Nah obviously the one most need of a refresh was spa day, a pack very few people have ever had much of an opinion on and that honestly hasn't aged that poorly compared to other ones, yeah they definitely don't need to fix luxury party, or like add more stuff to batuu, or like improve camping, or act on anything that people actually have strong opinions about or things people are actually likely to use multiple times rather than a 1 off spa trip for the sake of using the pack...
I’d rather Dine Out gets a refresh than this one. I don’t really give a hoot about Star Wars and I only bought it (on sale at a huge discount) for the handful of good build buy items.
And the refresh needs to be a lot more than fancy new nails.
I agree, lots of potential! The build/buy was great but honestly the CAS is what I dress my self-Sim in constantly. I would dress like that in real life if it were socially acceptable 😂
I honestly can't blame EA _too_ much for Batuu being buggy, seeing as they'd only be fixing bugs for the 3 people who play it lmao
Also, everyone would hate it but this pack could be amazing if refreshed. Use of the Force, add more accents or CAS abilities to add them, balance out the rabbit holes, more bathrooms, texture fixes (Kylo), bots more useful with more options, A relevant trait like oppurtunist (works with smugglers), Alien occult options if you have Get to Work, and so much more.
Or at least turn it into Disney - buy merch, take the family, eat snacks.
Or just don’t collab with disney and port everything from sims 3 towards. To be fair, sims 4 packs not really worth it cost at 40$... heck, I can buy a whole Ark and all Dlcs with less than 80$...
I desperately wanted an occult interaction with get to work 😭 I want my aliens to be labelled as aliens in my game. I would even be okay with the special powers being disabled, as long as they still were aliens.
Even James, the simmer who likes Batu the most, hasn't played this in a year. What an epic fail this pack is. Definitely not on my Christmas list.
You can say what you want about Batuu, but it’s given us some great options hazell to use in her renovations.
If they ever try to fix this pack, James should be asked to make an official lot. Even a couple of vacation rentals would improve this pack, not enough for me to buy it, but still a huge improvement.

Is it just me. Or is anyone else chuckle when James is building some thing and he comes across this pack and he gets all excited and makes a little giggly laugh. And the odd time he’s in the room when delis doing some thing and about to something comes across he’ll make a comment. It is literally become like James his signature catchphrase.
My husband and I were contemplating on getting this game. Because I have Sims and and we both love Star Wars. I am so very grateful that we did not get it.

I would like to watch a Batuu let's play. I tried to play it, but didn't understand a lot of what was supposed to be happening. I just resigned myself that everyone just pees their pants because I could never find the bathroom.

Really enjoyed this video! I actually chose to buy Journey to Batuu about 6 months after it came out, after having watched you playing it, and even after seeing everyone hating on it. Decided I didn’t care because I just love star wars. And I agree with everything you said here: I love build buy, the world looks so cool, wish there were less rabbit holes and more in-depth game play. But I actually still enjoy playing it every so often, I had a great time building a moisture farm home in Oasis Springs using loads of debug items, and I enjoy doing all the missions in Batuu, and I have absolutely no regrets about buying it! AWW BATUU YEAH!
It would be interesting if an update to this pack happened. Making more lots playable would be a start as well as making full body skins for the aliens who just have gloves, hats, and and sock, pieces.
They need all occult inside humanoid form, that way they don’t have to edit all the clothes for those aliens. XD

I just started trying to complete this one with my do-everything sim, Oscar. I couldn't even complete the first quest! I was so disappointed but after some research, I discovered that if your sim has any aspiration that allows them to be paid a higher amount of income that it throws a last exception error (LE) and you can't complete the mission. As it turns out, when I removed the Business Savvy trait (which allows sims to earn a higher than average salary) from Sim, he was able to complete the missions with no problem. If you have been avoiding doing Batuu for this reason, try removing any traits (temporarily) that improve income from careers. This would include the trait you can get from the acting career that allows higher than normal payouts for gigs. James, if discussing the lacking of this pack, maybe it will be the next refreshed pack YASSS!
The sims should make james the Batuu Ambassador at this point

I really enjoyed watching you play this a year ago and it was nice that you revisited it once again. If you so chose to play it more, I will defiantly watch it. But if you so chose not to that's fine too as I also watch your other game plays as well so you always have something for me to watch and and enjoy.

I played it a few weeks ago, after almost a year. And I liked it more than I did last year. Don't know why. Maybe it is the change from the standard gameplay I normally do.

I will say that something I quite liked about Batuu was that it not only allowed, but encouraged you to be morally ambiguous. You couldn’t do anything truly heinous that I remember, but I enjoyed playing with my rogue Sim and robbing everyone blind. I also liked how you could use your knowledge of Sims mechanics to help on missions. The number of times I had one of my two Batuu Sims distract a stormtrooper as the other robbed something… Taking advantage of Sim tunnel vision was fun lol and it felt like it was rewarding me for knowing how to play the game

I’m so glad someone actually likes this pack, it helped me to get back into the game after almost 6 years staying away. Batuu came out just before my birthday last year, but I wasn’t able to actually get a chance to play until this year (Thanks COVID.) I love the build mode items, and being able to build a droid and a lightsaber. And the hairstyles!
I was actually sad when the LP ended. And I do wish they would refresh this pack. It could be great...

Honestly playing this pack helps not being able to go to Disney so I enjoy batuu. As a side note the catina in Disney’s parks also doesn’t have a restroom and looks very close.
I was wondering about that.... I figured that was the reason they don't have more non-rabbit-hole lots in this pack, because it's modeled after the amusement park and they don't want people showing up thinking stuff from the game would be there irl
@@AlisonLeighLilly I mean I kinda is the rebel base is rise of the resistance ride, the 1st order base is where you get 1st order merch and see kylo ren and storm troopers, the food and drinks are at the parks in docking bay 7, ronto roaster, and Olga’s and the millennium falcon is a ride is smugglers run where you see Hondo and chewie. Which is really cool
"I'm advocating for a refresh of Batuu" is the "let the eat cake" of the sims community.

I’ve played through both aspirations and am at the top in both the resistance and with the scoundrels. I actually liked it, but it has become a little repetitive right now

I edited the Resistance camp a bit and added my own Star Wars home to live in permanently on Batuu. Pretty dope. Love from the world's only other JtB fan lol

I just tried out journey to batuu a few weeks ago. I wasn't too thrilled with the addition of star wars to the sims, even though I love both, but I like my sims more "normal." So I visited with my nerdy sim and was hopeful when I saw how awesome the world looked. I wanted to be a sith lord and kill sims with my lightsaber and destroy planets. Instead, like James said, it was rabbit holes and fetch quests :(. I agree that the world itself is awesome, but it feels so incredibly empty. With all the buildings that are just for show, and not much to do but talk about the force with other sims. More work should have been done on the gameplay aspect of the pack and not just the aestetics. There's no reason to want to visit Batuu unfortunately. I respect James doing an anniversary video lol, and I was interested to see what he had to say after my experience with it recently.
