Hi Matey, love watching you haul your creels. I was a recreational lobster fisher around Strangford Lough in Co. Down. I did it for 45 years, I m now 75 and have had to give it up for health reasons, so it’s a treat for me follow your escapades on TH-cam. My kids all grew up with lobster fishing, we lived inland but had a mobile home on the coast, the kids used to get really annoyed if I went to the creels without them, but sometimes the tides dictated when you had to go. I really miss it, although I remain friendly with local professional fishermen with whom I always got on well, they would look after my interests and I theirs. As an unlicensed fisherman I was only allowed 5 creels after the conservation measures came in, notching, size limits etc, not that I minded, I had always returned small lobsters and hens in berry, they were our future as I learned from the locals, it was great to see the difference these measures made as the years went by, bigger and more plentiful lobsters, the change was amazing. I hope you won’t mind if I comment on one thing, I think you tend to steam a bit too fast for a lone fisherman when you are shooting your rebaited creels, if you were to get snared by a rope, you might not be able reach the controls before you were pulled over the side, every lobster fisherman’s nightmare. Keep the vids coming!. David.
That comment is very valid and it maybe just looks that way from the camera angle. It isn’t very fast and I do prep the ropes and area before shooting so it’s safe. You will understand the need for being motoring along so the pots are stretched out. 👍🏻🦞🦀
You didn't 'lose' that first of-size lobster; the sea just took it back. The fact that you could laugh at yourself and shrug it off meant you were rewarded in the next string for your patience and humor~ ;)

At least the cartwheel champ came from the sea in the first place, John. I watched a brand new self-sharpening knife slide over the rail once, and in my efforts to stop it heading downwards, I overbalanced and my brand new polarised sunglasses followed the knife. Bloody nightmare! Then I lost a definite PB Huss later on the same trip when the knot parted at the hook. Just one of those day, I still thoroughly enjoyed the trip and the enthusiasm never wanes.

Our videos are always honest. Mistakes and all. The only thing I ever remove is dead space with nothing happening and maybe the occasional blood spatter etc. 😉

It just was named that as i typed it, in practice it is to prevent the great reset, only because its desired outcome offers no benefit to life or the planet. In my first ppresentation i offer the great question of what do we really want as individuals and how do we as a people deal with that not ending in war on every battlefield. it ends with how i determined the first. later today i will post how i tested the first to determine the latter. i would love to hear what you find and if it was what you were looking for.

Great video upload. You are human after all since you make mistakes too with the saga picking-up the lobster and accidently letting it go back in to the sea. Regardless of this isolated situation your lobster pots did rather well with gathering those crabs and the lobsters that you did. An enjoyable and entertaining video - funny too with your facial expressions following losing the lobster. Thanks for sharing.

Hello John - I Just discovered your wonderful videos this summer while looking for guidance on snorkeling for scallops, across the pond in the Bay of Fundy. I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it yet, still sorting the ballast weight thing (an old newbie with a 7mm wetsuit that makes me float like a cork). In any case, “a visit with John Locker and family” has become an after-supper ritual for me this summer. Your videos are always entertaining, informative, good-humored, without profanity and in stark contrast to all the negativity of the day. I particularly admire your knowledge of both marine life and terrestrial plants. Wondering about your neck scarves/bandanas. A throwback to the UK military? I actually live in Cornwall, too, just not the same one. I live year-round in Cornwall, Vermont, and in the summer on a Canadian island off the coast of Maine. I’m going to order some of your Fish Locker wearables.

No matter how long the videos they are always the best minutes I spend on you tube. Fantastic to be along on your boat on such a lovely day, it is fascinating they can be left or right clawed and the blues on the tail flashes are quite exquisite.

There aren't any bloopers that I don't leave it. Like todays video for example. The only thing I have ever taken out is blank footage with nothing happening, blood and the very occasional curse word.

No matter how long the videos they are always the best minutes I spend on you tube. Fantastic to be along on your boat on such a lovely day, it is fascinating they can be left or right clawed and the blues on the tail flashes are quite exquisite.

There aren't any bloopers that I don't leave it. Like todays video for example. The only thing I have ever taken out is blank footage with nothing happening, blood and the very occasional curse word.
