Marisa knew Reimu like the back of her hand by now. This... thing couldn't be her. Reimu would never laugh like that. Reimu would never talk to anyone, least of all Marisa, in that cold, detached tone of voice. Reimu would never guilt-trip or gaslight her. Reimu would never invite her to rule a dark world at her side. Reimu would least of all try to avoid a fight; for all Marisa knew, she had looked forward to a hero's death even longer than Marisa herself had. But Marisa didn't know what to do. Until an old tune, "End of Daylight," popped into her head and she started recalling Reimu's words to her before. "If either of us falls to darkness," Reimu had said before spell cards were established, "the other one must destroy her." Marisa sensed that time had come, and that Reimu was the one who had fallen. But was Marisa up to it? Then Marisa recalled something Reimu had said the very first time they'd met: "Remember, you haven't reached your full potential yet. If you gather all the abilities within your reach, you should become stronger. You may even become as powerful as I am." Those words had driven Marisa's whole life since then. If Reimu foresaw that already back then, surely that point would have come by now? As nostalgia powered Marisa, she dug out an old one-liner she'd used on Reimu before: "Alright, alright, I give up, I give up. The creeping despair, people losing the will to fight, incidents stopping, and painting funny symbols on flowers... It's all Alice's fault. Now, bitch, get out of the way!" The girl standing before her said, "Ah yes, you told me that before. It wasn't funny the first time." And then they said to each other in unison, "IT'S ON!"

This isn't just any ordinary final battle, but a tragic final battle, and only recently did I get the feeling that this part portrays it the most.
If you ask me what my favorite Touhou song is, my immediate brain will say, "Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke." Then the more thoughtful part of my brain says, "Inanimate Dream is tied with that in first, though..." Then the most thoughtful, remembering part of my brain kicks in, "ETERNAL SHRINE MAIDEN, BITCHES!!!" :D
Listening to these songs in order, and reading the descriptions... And then finally, this. Just the dialogue practically brought a tear to me. This is a beautiful made fan-game, probably one of the best there will ever be. Trying to live up something as emotional as this, which is already extremely hard to do, is a serious challenge for anybody who is going to make a Touhou fan-game. Beautiful, perfect final boss theme. This game deserves praise.
Sorry, it's never gonna happen. Touhou lost a lot of popularity because people are having massive issues with the series not having fanservice and even assuming that ZUN is way behind times.
The final stand..... in a world beyond the comprehension of reality, the two greatest characters of this fantastic world, fight to the end, not for themselves, but for each other. Because, at the end of the horizon is the hope of the day that will never come.
I finally played CtC today. Damned nearly cried at the last stage because of this arrange despite all the times I'd listened to it before. I haven't felt like crying at a game since Silent Hill 2 but there I was, dodging bullets with my heart broken... How bizarre. But I guess that's just how much I love Gensoukyou. Leaving aside the unnecessary subplot-thingy with Alice's unrequited love, which broke my immersion completely back when I watched someone's gameplay (thankfully the route I picked turned out to be a different one), this fangame does literally everything right. One of my favorite things about it was the writing for Yukari and Yuyuko. They absolutely nailed their characters.
“The end of a fleeting dream, no matter how blissful...it’s inevitable. I have to wake up at some point. Yet, don’t you see? There’s some part of me that yearns, begs to stay asleep, to never have to face the harsh reality. _You_ are that part of me. The part of me that wants to remain in this blissful dream world, where I’m loved and cherished by all. You shower me with praise and adoration, because you know...when I tire of this place, I will awaken, and it will fade away, with nothing remaining...yourself, included. I’m sorry...but whatever relationship we had was just another manifestation of my thoughts. I’m sorry, my love...but I can’t turn my back from the real world any more, even if you want me to stay. And so, I ask this of you. One last dance between the bullets. I already know you’ll say yes...so...let this be our grand finale...and our goodbye.”
Even thought it's a fangame, CtC really got me shocked with the possibility of such a thing really happening. Even if it doesn't make sense with the current lore, when I remember about...THAT ending, those dialogues...it still hit hard into my emotions.
@@fluffy_cheese7478You people have heard the ending song for this game, right? That one is a very sad ending song in any Touhou game, only second to Super Mario 64's ending song.
+TooEliteForYou I understand you feelings pretty well :(. I have to cry almost everytime , when I hear this theme. The same for Plastic Mind and Blue Sea of 53 minutes. Just to emotional and because of the story.

I desperately want an AMV for the intro. I can see it in my head: Marisa finds out what Reimu wants to do, and rushes to her to convince her not to do it. Tears in her eyes, she begs for Reimu to stop. She tells her to think of all the people they met, the friends they made, the troubles they went through, the crises they averted, but Reimu ignores her. "It's not up to you, Marisa. It's up to me to make and unmake this world." And then, with tears rolling down her cheeks and with a broken voice, Marisa screams. "MASTER SPARK!!!"
@@pockychews7232 Personally I think EIoS is one of the best. Sure it's controversial but the ost's are probably the best in almost any fangame. The only other one that could maybe surpass it is this theme or SSS. Shizuka and her stage theme are the best
"Dear oh dear, what was it? The incidents, the magic, or the terrible dream? Oh, it doesn't matter. It always comes down to the Hakurei Maiden to clean up after these sorts of messes. Besides, I always wanted to feel like a final boss."
This song works just on so many levels. The panic of the intro, the lightness of the beginning, the melancholy of the ESM part....what gets me most is the instruments. The 1st section features strings and Japanese flutes, all assoc. with Reimu's themes that all return in the ESM part. On looping, the 1st part is taken over by the ZUN-pets, something featured heavily in WHOSE themes? Plus the doubling of the pianos, which both themes have. It's Marisa's filibuster of Gensokyo's destruction.
+Doremy Sweet It tastes like magical girls and dirty fanfiction-induced depression. But if you leave it out too long everyone gets all angsty like Yuyuko did in this game.
Did anyone else have like trash Hakurei Points when doing this for the first time? I did, so the battle ended early and kinda maybe left me crying as I realized the world just ended before Marisa could stop Reimu.
Oh. My. God. Damn, that intro! This music! And this just reaffirms once again why Eternal Shrine Maiden will forever be "that one theme" for me. I am awestruck. *Goes off to read the storyline again*...*Bawls*

It's weird people keep thinking that Touhou will die off... Yes, there might not be canon games made by ZUN, but just think that what if ZUN wants to pass it down? Sometimes in life you don't have to think it too negitive of things. The life cycle is different then an normal human being can think of. Touhou give bearth to many things we know today, such as: Seihou, Len'en, and to the point even UNDERTALE. If touhou do end, it's like humanity falls into it's knees. So I wish fellow Touhou fans to still support Touhou even if ZUN is no longer with us. We are the ones who made this fandom to an different extent, and gave life to the forgotten Youkais hidden in Gensokyo... Thank you for reading this, our journey just begin!
Fnas had the same kind of story but someting more in that Bloodshed Horror Easter eggs where it can tell you a part of the story Yea....fnas and touhou had soneting similiar... Thats one of the why im progecting fnas+touhou crossover
Ya know I really love the theory this fangame presents and in some ways it makes no sense but in others it makes a bit of sense the fact that the moriya shrine has their gods up and about and everyone knows them it's wierd how the harukei shrine's god is never shown I think I've read on the wiki or something that the shrine might be housing the "sleeping" god of the shrine .... sleeping god damn if this fan game was an actual cannon(if that happened that would upset some people) then that's why we never see that shrine's god cause it was always reimu she was the god of that shrine the sleeping god the one who at first didn't know but slowly started to wake up from the Dream and realized what gensokyo was damn
+That one person who is Extremely sarcastic That perspective makes this game's heartwrencher of a storyline so much more bearable. Even Yuyuko's completely losing it is explained this way. "I don't WANNA switch to G-Free noodles!"
"You're fighting so you can watch all of Gensokyo dissapear! Think, Marisa! We'll outlast every fragile, insignificant being. You'll live to see Gensokyo crumble to dust and fade away! Everything you know will be *gone!* What will you have after everything dissapears?"

Agreed
@@fluffy_cheese7478You people have heard the ending song for this game, right? That one is a very sad ending song in any Touhou game, only second to Super Mario 64's ending song.
Got chills the moment Eternal Shrine Maiden kicked in.
Damn that's poetic.
I'M NOT CRYING.
YOU'RE CRYING.
SHUT UP.
(┳Д┳)
+TooEliteForYou I understand you feelings pretty well :(. I have to cry almost everytime , when I hear this theme. The same for Plastic Mind and Blue Sea of 53 minutes. Just to emotional and because of the story.
is this a thing I have to experience myself
lol
*****
*Gets past the part where the song gets serious* "Wait, was that when I should've been crying? CRAP!" *pretends to wail in the corner* "See, guys? This song makes _me_ sad, too!"
lol, that was some elegant wording: "...that makes my eyes spill water..." x"D
I won't cry... I won't run away. I'll face you head on, even if it means being torn to ribbons. I'll overcome this cruel destiny! Just who the hell do you think I am?
dat intro tho'
Dat avatar o.o
***** I think its because "dat" is German for "that"
Lucasa9Poke Haha that's not correct. "Das" is German for "that". When I use the translate button "dat" turns into "das" :D
TH-cam is also telling me that there is more of your comment to read.
GOOD JOB TH-cam.
finalformsonic lol
Seriously my favourite Reimu theme, this is just too awesome
I desperately want an AMV for the intro. I can see it in my head:
Marisa finds out what Reimu wants to do, and rushes to her to convince her not to do it.
"A battle to decide the eternal struggle of Gensokyo being Gluten Free
... I accept!"
CTC has a cool concept I guess. The story is confusing with the canon, but it's probably the best fanmade game.
Personally, my favorite is Book of Star Mythology
Though BoSM was introduced after CtC. So before BoSM was introduced, my fav was definitely CtC
@@pockychews7232 Personally I think EIoS is one of the best. Sure it's controversial but the ost's are probably the best in almost any fangame. The only other one that could maybe surpass it is this theme or SSS. Shizuka and her stage theme are the best
Marisa Kirisame as the protagonist...ya dont see that everyday
That intro is truly amazing. The first time I saw it I almost cried...this obviously shows I LOVE touhou to death.
Lie down on the floor
Try not to cry
DROWN THE FUCKING WORLD IN SALTY TEARS
I’ll join you
"Dear oh dear, what was it?
IT'S SO A F*CKING BANGERRRRRRR Dammmmmmn and ALSO the Fan art is Beautiful!!
Gensokyo? A dream? Oh, I wonder how it tastes...
+Doremy Sweet
It tastes like magical girls and dirty fanfiction-induced depression.
But if you leave it out too long everyone gets all angsty like Yuyuko did in this game.
You'd be the most powerful character then :O
Sumireko existing makes this more relevant.
It will taste like the most delicious thing, and possibly, the most valuable dream to have, even better than the whole plot of Super Mario Bros. 2
I want Doremy to eat Gensokyo. I need to be free from Touhou forever!
this theme is such a banger from start to end, it's actually incredible 😶it leaves me speechless
Especially the part at 2:40, it gives me chills
Reimu: gensokyo is mine i will not hand it over to you!
Marisa: gensokyo isnt just yours you cant take it away!
thats epic right there.
Yep thats epic but a litle funny
@@petergriffin1331 This is late, but how is it funny? I don't see a joke, or anything funny anywhere in the message.
I'm still wiping away the tears from that intro. Well done.
I always, always get choked up listening to this song. For so many reasons.
Did anyone else have like trash Hakurei Points when doing this for the first time? I did, so the battle ended early and kinda maybe left me crying as I realized the world just ended before Marisa could stop Reimu.
THAT INTRO. Good Job Flan, that was amazing.
A mix between G-Free and Eternal Shrine Maiden? I like it!
Can't wait until this finally breaks 100k views...this song deserves it
Fiery Pigeon And... done! ;) And yes, it certainly does.
Now 219k views.... Enjoy!
At the time of my comment, it just broke through 300k views.
Oh? I'm also here to celebrate it's 300k views.
400K soon.
Reimu: *dies*
Marisa: It's Free G
Oh. My. God. Damn, that intro! This music! And this just reaffirms once again why Eternal Shrine Maiden will forever be "that one theme" for me. I am awestruck. *Goes off to read the storyline again*...*Bawls*
G Free好きだわ〜
I love this theme so much.
So. Very. Much.
Especially that opening.
Amazing masterpiece~!
Wooo!
Reimu's theme is Gluten Free!!
Integrating Eternal Shrine Maiden into a Reimu final boss theme was an awesome thematic choice given the story.
Reimu=
Thanks for dealing for my selfishness.
(Litteraly 25 seconds later)
Gensokyo is MINE! I CANT GIVE IT TO YOU!
This has got to be the greatest touhou fangame ever made...I mean it's more serious than others, but that's what makes it special and...them feels man...got to have them feels
actUALLY CAN SOMEONE GOOD ENOUGH AT DRAWING/ANIMTING ANIMATE THAT INTRO BECAUSE I WILL CRY INTENSELY
Its been Y E A R S and now i just realized that theres a hint of maiden's cappriccio i-. Its so in the back that i only noticed it with my bass boosted headset
The battle between friendship and the fate of Gensokyo. Everything you've been through lies in your hand now. Will Gensokyo be save or fall?
check just about every touhou game after her introduction in SoEW. She's in just about all of them. Canon protagonist though, indeed.
Damn ninjas cutting onions again!
xD
The opening is really the best part.
Thank you for reading this, our journey just begin!
well shit. dem feels
I almost cried. I lied.
I'm crying ;_; I played through this game and it hits HARD
I love hearing the Eternal Shrine Maiden in there
Why didn't anyone talk about the dialogue at the beginning? I know it's straight from CtC but it's so special to put it here
the story of this game was so sad
Fnas had the same kind of story but someting more in that
Bloodshed
Horror
Easter eggs where it can tell you a part of the story
Yea....fnas and touhou had soneting similiar...
Thats one of the why im progecting fnas+touhou crossover
I'm writing a story on this fangame. If you'd like, I could share some of it.
@@KogasaTatara514 i'm 2 years late, but-- i'd love to hear about it!
I, Reimu Hakurei, have a dream..
YES YES YES YES
This specific track with the story behind it makes it so powerful... It's hard to not get hit in the feels.
that background was probably drawn by the same person who drew character portraits in 17.5
It is
HELP!!!!
I CAN'T STOP CRYING BECAUSE OF REIMU ENDING HER DREAM WORLD!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
*Thank god, it's not canon.*
The story of this game is basically the "We Gotta Get Spongebob Back" video but with Reimu and Marisa instead of Spongebob and Squidward
[G]ensokyo Free ~ Final Dream
Thanks, YT for recommending this again.
They won’t stop making me cry why do they think it is fun to see me suffer
Her theme is called Gluten Free...
Iikura Okay. Ooookay, that made me laugh. A lot. XD
Iikura Gluten Free ~ The Final Dream; The final battle against your very friend Reimu! To see if Gensokyo shall be Gluten Free, or nah!
That one person who is Extremely sarcastic In the good ending it is revealed that it was all a shared dream, caused by a gluten induced coma.
+That one person who is Extremely sarcastic That perspective makes this game's heartwrencher of a storyline so much more bearable. Even Yuyuko's completely losing it is explained this way.
"I don't WANNA switch to G-Free noodles!"
Gar-free(ld)
OMG the first 30 seconds are so beautiful, but so is this song in general.
I freaking
i first heard the soundtrack, then i played the game...and now i'm listening the soundtrack again and i'm crying....
ToTRP 🔥🔥🔥
And yet... it brings people to tears...
that fucking intro almost got me on tears.
Same
How does one make intros like this?
With video editing software.
Eternal shrine maiden and maiden’s capriccio?
And G Free
1:43 is godly, so is 2:05 and basically everything.
planting
(bomb has been planted)
90 second to detonate
I'm not crying, you are !
You’re not lying about that last part
The intro of this one is like, really really sad and stuff, this song is actually really beautifull and bring emotions to me ;v; it's so beautifull
Has the drawing in this video been made by the same person who made the artworks for th17.5 ??? The artstyles look very similar to me !
Very glad I found this game and it's music
THEY PREDICTED THE 17.5 ARTSTYLE??
