I started with semi gloss to match the trim but went back over it with a matte finish as I wasn’t loving the shine all the way down the wall. I left the bottom trim semi gloss and the rest is matte.
awesome!! I am doing my bedroom but I used a hardboard tempered Panel. I also have textured walls. we shall see how it comes out. thank you for sharing! it looks amazing
A trick I learned recently. Spray windex on the crevices before you start caulking. It helps the caulk go on smother and wiping off the excess is a lot easier. You did a great job. It looks amazing!!!
it looks great but I am completely on the fence about whether to conceal wall texture with 1/8 hardboard panels or not - you painted over the texture and used a fairly shiny paint (or so it appears from video) My preference would be to not use hardboard - wish there was a better close up of your walls with B&B installed -great video, thanks
Thanks so much!! I honestly think it would look better with the panels but I’m not at all bothered by the textured look so this worked out okay for my first attempt!! :)
Board & batten is an old Nordic style & used on the exterior of barns. Historically speaking, the walls weren't smooth so the texture could be seen as being accurate. Someone used plaster thinking it was joint compound on stud nail pops in my house before I moved in. I plan on disguising the damage with the battens. Half full not empty glass..
That would have made it easier 😂 but the stiles would have needed to be painted regardless so we just put them up and went with it! A professional sprayer would have been the best bet but this was what we were working with :)
Diy Board & Batten Hallway :) My first attempt at something like this! I love how it turned out!!
What finish did you use on the board and batten? Obviously not flat paint--was it satin, eggshell, semi-gloss?

Thank you! 😀
Looks great! Did you have issues when you fastened the stiles, with the finish nail gun, in areas where there wasn't a stud in that location?
No issues at all!
So beautiful and I love your floors whats the color and where did you get it Im looking for my cottage ❤
Thanks!! The floors are Kentwood Lemur Maple - engineered hardwood.
Did the veryical boards just sit directly on top of baseboards flush?
Yep! Perfectly flush with the base trim!
What paint finish did you use? Satin or semi gloss?
I finished with a semi gloss!
How wide is your hallway? I think ours may be too narrow.
Our hallway is 4’ wide. I think standard is 3’ - But even in a narrow hallway I think this would look great!
How long did it take overall?
Thanks Rhonda! This entire project took about a week :)
i would love to do this but i suck at math and have no idea what 8 11/16 looks like on a ruler

Why not paint the wall first, then apply the stiles?
That would have made it easier 😂 but the stiles would have needed to be painted regardless so we just put them up and went with it! A professional sprayer would have been the best bet but this was what we were working with :)
@@pnwhomebody I would have painted the stiles prior to install as well, then just touch up the fastener blemishes.
Looks ok. Don't care for the orange peel texture.
I agree it would look better with the panels but it definitely elevated my space even without. I appreciate your comment!! :) Thank you!
