    If you’re gonna speed up parts of the video use a faster speed. This speed is just a long headache.

      Thanks for the feedback, it's still a work in progress, so any advice is appreciated. Do you think a fade in/fade out would be better?

      @@spearandspine9970 you’re welcome, I like your content, just could do without the wobbly camera. I was thinking about that too the fade ins and outs, but was thinking some people might like the fact that your video is a full length video without any cuts because of the scenery. Maybe just do some videos with it and without it to see if it improves the ease of viewing.

      @@beandipnchips4502 Thanks, the wobble is an unfortunate side-effect of my camera being attached to me, but as I'm typically diving solo, I don't have a choice. I'm thinking upgrading to the GoPro Hero 10 with the newest stabilization might help, but in the meantime just gotta take extra care to keep my head steady I guess? 😅
      As for the vids, maybe I'll post full-length and highlights with fades between kills and include links between them and chapter markers. In any event, thanks again for your feedback!

      @@spearandspine9970 Just stick to what you like doing and what you enjoy ^^ I love these vids. Anyone who actually understands water will understand the lack of pristine imagry lol. Fun fact, water is kinda murky.
      But there will always be something someone doesn't like so don't go too much out of your way to fine-tune something that isnt as important.

    How many Lionfish does your fish cylinder hold, anyways?

      If you watch dive 2, you'll see that it holds at least 24 😉 I'll be putting out info on teaching my lionfish class soon, make sure you're subscribed

    seems like theres less of them now

    • @spearandspine9970
      @spearandspine9970  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One can only hope... I think within recreational limits their population has been decreasing with the increased popularity of hunting them, but deeper they're still allowed to build up. Last month I got 30 of them in 2 dives on the Oriskany out of Pensacola. Many were in the sand at about 220'. Hopefully the underwater predators start doing their part soon.

    Even when Lionfish hunting theres gotta be The one that got away

  • @willwagner2252

    The process of spearing them and bringing them to the surface seems very slow for the problem.

    • @spearandspine9970
      @spearandspine9970  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, it's slow. I think the key to the spearing effort is scale; the more people are out there consistently hunting them, the better. For instance the Emerald Coast Open Lionfish Tournament just happened last weekend and I think they hauled in over 12k fish. Derbies are being held all over the Atlantic seaboard. And then there's the FWC Summer Lionfish challenge that lasts from May to September and gives prizes for hitting benchmarks.
      There's also research on easily deployable traps that commercial fishermen can use to harvest them.
      Ultimately, the endgame is mother nature adapting i.e. predators adapting to target healthy lionfish and their eggs. All other efforts are damage-control until that happens.

    Remember every time you turn your head with that camera you’re subjecting the viewer to a jerky viewing. There sure didn’t seem to be many fish in that broad area. You want the smaller Artificial reefs that concentrate lionfish in a small area.

    • @spearandspine9970
      @spearandspine9970  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback, I'm working on it! Did some hunts this past weekend, got a few videos coming down the pipe with the GoPro Hero 10, hoping the better stabilization plus just awareness on my part help.
      Also, if you check out my video for Salty Spines November '21 Derby Dive 2, it is also kinda sparse like this one EXCEPT for a couple reef heads with entire congregations of them. 24 fish in one dive if I remember correctly.
