    I almost never watch professional reviews for cameras, as they can't help but compare everything to tip top of the line gear. I always try to find reviews like yours that are more accurate for someone that does this as an enjoyable hobby. For the average person who wants to snag some decent photos and videos to share, but doesn't want to spend a fortune to do it, this seems like a great option. I had a Nikon B700 that just died, so I am seriously looking into this camera, and your clear, honest and informative review was very helpful. Great job!

    Really well put together, comprehensive video. While I won't be getting a P950 just yet, you've definitely inspired me to get a zoom camera of some kind!

    A down to earth, practical critique on how best to use the Nikon Coolpix 950. Thank you. I learned a lot as a new user to this camera.

    Thanks for the honest review Digger. Like you I struggle with the weight of my Canon dslr and its 100-400 zoom lens which comes in at 2.5kg. Taking the plunge I have now ordered the P950. Looking forward to having the extra reach and less weight hopefully it will be a good trade off.

      O importante é vc pegar a mãnha na edição e sempre raw! Na minha P1000 as configurações nitidez e etc... incluem o raw e isso foi uma mão na roda!

    Nice video, I appreciated the shots and your modesty. I recently bought the Nikon P950 and really like it, but I'm still very much learning what it can do. On that note, may I make a couple of suggestions for you to dismiss or use if you want? :)
    1, That camera has a "bird mode" where I believe it takes continuous photos as long as you hold the shutter down. That might be just the ticket for the birds in flight challenge you mentioned.
    2, You mentioned you like to walk a lot. You also mentioned shooting video and shaking. Have you looked at a monopod that doubles as a walking stick? It might be ideal for the walks and the steadying.
    I hope this isn't seen as me being rude.

    Great review, and a nice compilation of bird pics and videos. I have been considering the P950 amongst a number of other cameras, with small and large sensors, primarily for bird photography. For a small sensor camera some of those pictures are excellent.

    It was so enjoyable watching how much you really loved what you were doing. I also started off just using GoPro, but I missed so many far away shots so I recently just bought the P950. That’s how I stumbled on your video. I’m still learning the photography side of things, and learning the settings on the camera. But I absolutely enjoy the hobby and from the video I can tell you do as well. Thank you for the video.

      @@kingfisher3011 i like it. The zoom is incredible. I think there are still advantages to a separate lens especially for birds in flight but I’ve liked it a lot. Connecting to my smartphone has been hit and miss so in the end I bought a cheap sd card reader I can plug in to phone.

    Nice to see an honest recent review. Not many videos about this camera. I've got a P950. Bought it just over 2 years ago and i'm still trying to get to grips with it. I chose this P950 because having previously owned a Nikon DSLR with interchangeable lenses and it was a pain carrying around all that gear. I always shoot in Raw format and mainly in manual mode. Its a learning experience. I try alot of different types of photography with it from Makro, Landscaping, Wildlife to Night and Moon Photography. I rarely use the flash. Good at long exposure. A good Ball Head Tripod is the way to go with this camera. I've taken some lovely photographs using a tripod. I find using it handheld my photos aren't so sharp at distance so tend to take a few duplicate shots and pick the best ones then post edit the pics. This camera does it all for what I use it for. Just takes time to get used to it. The battery lasts for ages. Never had to change batteries while out on a shoot. Don't be scared to shoot in different modes and have fun with it. All in all I like it

    I enjoyed your video very much! Thanks for sharing. Your photos are impressive, much better than I expected of this camera. Your videos are also pretty good even handheld. The shake was barely noticeable in many of them. I’m going to buy this camera for its super zoom.

    I think this is a fair review and some of your work is really good. I have a mirror less system which is great for my garden and has the same limitations for longer shooting. So as a hobby player I decided to go for this camera and not another professional system. I reckon whilst there are limitations this is all I need. That saves me a fortune. Keep going!

    Okay, I have the P1000 and I consider it a lemon and every day I make lemonade with it. I don't know about the P950, but with the P1000 you can configure Raw and this gives me the freedom to have a raw image with more color and sharpness, which avoids artificial artifacts during editing, giving surprising results that not even a professional recognized that P1000 was the author of that photo. I use a maximum of ISO 400, I've already tested the 90D + Sigma 600 C and Canon 600mm, as well as the R8, R50, RP and none of them gave me the detail that the P1000 gives me when it comes to distance! So whoever criticizes them doesn't know their potential and of course they have their limitations, for example at 5pm I no longer use them... but they surprise me every day in both distant and macro photos and I take a very focused and clear photo . . birds in flight. That must be why the P1000 doesn't have a manual but rather a book, haha...hugs 👍🇧🇷!

    Such a solid review. I wanted the P1000 for so long but when the P950 came out that changed.. Much more sensible size for what I want it for and with an amazing zoom. Newer better cameras has come out but none offer this zoom which I'd thought would be a given at least on some models. Even Nikon hasn't offered an upgrade in like 4 years.

      I never really considered the p1000 as the tripod mount hole was off centre and the camera as a whole looked cumbersome

    • @digger360
      @digger360  หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes they can become front heavy and unbalanced when at full zoom but hey you get 2000mm FF equivelant

    I have always been impressed with your bird pics. It is a camera I would love to try but as my current one is fairly new and I am still learning to use that it will be a few Christmases before I get one of those P950's.

    • @digger360
      @digger360  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind reply ...this last year has been fun learning to photograph birds etc ...but i only show the good ones 😂i am really still point n shoot with a bit of spray n pray but in Aperture mode instead of auto everything ...it would really be a downgrade from your camera to a P950 in ordinary circumstances but at extreme distance the P950 lets you get a reasonable photo /video but in the right hands who knows how good 👍

      Sadly in this video i am fixated on birds ...but you so right this camera does amazing moonshots and i should have included some as it really is quite simple in "Moon Mode " on a tripod and it gives an amazing photo that is hard to beat without spending alot of money and i live in a part of Spain that does have a Dark Sky so i can get the best out of this camera its a shame now in hindsight

    i have the P950 for almost 2 years now and didnt regret anything. if there is anything i dont like its the small sensor and combined with that bad photo quality. if you just look at the ISO button a bit weird it gets worse. but i made it habit to adjust my workflow a little bit. download photos. AI de-noising software to clean up the image. then lightroom for some contrast and corrections. thats all to get great photos from this cam. i bought a macro adapter lens and some LED light panels. which makes it a fantastic toy to play at home with a tripod on rainy days.
