It is better to go to Tondo on Weekends and Holidays... where kids don't have class and are busy roaming on the streets... It is their Playground .... aside from basketball courts....Kids are respectful and say thank you when given something.... but a few are not well mannered... like the kid who want you to say bad words.. and the other kid told you not to say those words....but in general they are kind and happy.😊
It's often said that those who are deemed less desirable tend to be the friendliest folks around. Conversely, the elite and upper middle class tend to come across as snobbish and unfriendly. However, if you spend more time in my country and venture out into the provinces or countryside, you'll encounter some of the warmest and most hospitable people on the planet.
I think in the day its great but never seen anyone do night time in Tondo. The Philippines in general is awesome, they are loving people and so welcoming and always offer food and drinks
I've been 5 times in the Philippines and the first time 2013 everybody warned me to go to Tondo and not even Taxi drivers wanted to bring me there. So I've got there on my own and had lots of fun and met only very nice persons. Lots of them started talking to me and at the end a bunch of kids followed me when I was walking around. To me there haven't been any dangerous situation at all. It's been nice watching your vid, good job on that 👍
I've never been to Manilla it's one of the places I want to visit the most. I have a lot of friends that live there due to my work. They are the happiest, friendliest and sweetest people.
You made so many children happy. You surely would be blessed. Tondo is just one of the 16 districts of the city of Manila. The city of Manila, the capital city, is just one of the 16 cities and 1 municipality that comprise Metro Manila, the capital region. Streets gangs in the city of Manila started in the 1940s when street gang"Bahala Na Gang (BNG)" was formed in Sampaloc, another district of the city. Tondo became notoriously popular when the street gang Sigue Sigue was created in Tondo in the 1960s. It splintered into two groups, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Sigue Sigue Commando. Another gang was formed, Oxo, whose members were Visayan. Visayas is one of the 3 major islands/regions of the Philippines, namely Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. These gangs fought each other, that is why Tondo, became a hotbed of street fights which often times resulted in death. You will be surprised to know, that a British Band which became popular in the 1980s was named Sigue Sigue Sputnik, after that street gang of Tondo. You can make a research on it. Tondo, now is relatively peaceful, just like other districts of Manila.

Hi Josh! Thanks for visiting Tondo especially in the area that you've been was Don Bosco Area, you know this place was most memorable in my life because I have a lot of friends in these place and these place are one of my afford to hangout, by the way, with my 5 years here in Cavite maybe someday I came back in this place.
Subscribed!!! Brother!! I remember when i was young, i used to hang out around there with our bikes. These was like elementary times :D. Haven't been there in almost 30 years. They are very nice people ha arent they? 😊
It is the Filipinos themselves who create this stigma in certain places which is basically more of a cultural barrier among traditions, tribes, and hatred at some point. Tondo is no longer that primitive and chaotic compared to the old days. Just like Capiz in Visayas gives a bad impression among locals living there telling that they are sorcerers and witches.
3:48 Shoot, you passed by Tondo Foreshore Health Center. I was a volunteer there during my internship and delivered so many babies back in 1997. I remember the dads bringing breakfast for us as a form of appreciation. The babies I delivered there are probably parents now too 😅 man you brought back so many of my good memories there, thanks for this vlog.
You used the right term, reputation. It is true that back in the day, no one who doesn't live in Tondo goes there. Back in my college days, one time, my friends and I went drinking after class (it was a short day) and one of my friends who lives in Tondo was so drunk that the others asked me to help him get home. (I remembered walking the street towards his place and seeing guys older than us (I was 17, 1st-year college) walking the street with no shirts on and 3 of them carrying an M-16 Armalite. However, nothing happened to me but I never told my family because my family would give me a 3rd degree sermon. It's how one carries himself when in such areas. If you're an ass, expect to be harassed but if you're nice, they won't bother you.
each town in the Philippines is called a barangay (pronounced barang guy) so whenever you are in a new place you can ask anong barangay ito which means what barangay is this
I did same. Always give the kids a few pesos for snacks from sari sari. Then going to birthday parties and giving the host many pesos for the foods and ice cream for the kids.

It is their Playground .... aside from basketball courts....Kids are respectful and say thank you when given something.... but a few are not well mannered... like the kid who want you to say bad words.. and the other kid told you not to say those words....but in general they are kind and happy.😊
Pretty sure it was a weekend, we purposely wanted to go when there was no school haha. We just got lucky it was Father’s Day! 😄

*I from Brazil, I Love Filipinas, Happy New Year to you 🇧🇷❤️🇵🇭*
Very goooood content and very humble.. Also good thing you don't easily get drunk...
Every street there's liquor shot
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah thankfully I'm British and we like to drink 😂
Mahalin at respetuhin natin ang ating mga turista❤❤❤
Welcome to the Philippines Josh! Greetings from Poland! 😊
Josh and company you're so easy to get along with. Stay safe, take care.
wow thank you @Journey of Josh to come in my home town . hope you have a good day and good experience there salamat God bless to all
It's often said that those who are deemed less desirable tend to be the friendliest folks around. Conversely, the elite and upper middle class tend to come across as snobbish and unfriendly. However, if you spend more time in my country and venture out into the provinces or countryside, you'll encounter some of the warmest and most hospitable people on the planet.
Nice one josh to give to the kids a sigh of kindness go and continues
Its's the last we could do 😊
LOMI! L O the kid is so cute he spelled it for you 😘😍😍
I think you already drunk because of the shots😭😅
I think in the day its great but never seen anyone do night time in Tondo. The Philippines in general is awesome, they are loving people and so welcoming and always offer food and drinks

They are! So full of energy too, made me feel old 😂
Amazing content that inspired me to create a similar video for my own TH-cam channel. Keep motivating other content creators like myself. Love the 🇵🇭
I've been 5 times in the Philippines and the first time 2013 everybody warned me to go to Tondo and not even Taxi drivers wanted to bring me there. So I've got there on my own and had lots of fun and met only very nice persons. Lots of them started talking to me and at the end a bunch of kids followed me when I was walking around. To me there haven't been any dangerous situation at all. It's been nice watching your vid, good job on that 👍
Stay there until new year so much fun ❤❤❤
Maybe next year ☺️
You become celebrity brother welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭
Cant say ive ever laughed so hard watching a travel vlog. Josh brings out the best in people. Just brilliant!

This was dope, mad respect ❤
Subscribed!!! Brother!! I remember when i was young, i used to hang out around there with our bikes. These was like elementary times :D. Haven't been there in almost 30 years. They are very nice people ha arent they? 😊
I love this!
So happy to hear that!
It is the Filipinos themselves who create this stigma in certain places which is basically more of a cultural barrier among traditions, tribes, and hatred at some point. Tondo is no longer that primitive and chaotic compared to the old days. Just like Capiz in Visayas gives a bad impression among locals living there telling that they are sorcerers and witches.
yes i agree. bad publicity from coming fr some locals themselves, a few foreigners who overreact, and of course news and social media
I’m exhausted!!!🤣😃🤣😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Super enjoyed this vlog omg 🎉🎉
I love all your blogs sir journey of josh ❤❤❤its more fun in the philippines ...hope you do much blogs there😊😊😊
Try the provinces too sir❤❤
So happy you are loving them! We will be getting out of Manila soon, don’t you worry ☺️
Respect is the key where ever you go.. then the pilipino will also give respect
each town in the Philippines is called a barangay (pronounced barang guy) so whenever you are in a new place you can ask anong barangay ito which means what barangay is this
Thanks for the info! I know this now and will be using the word in upcoming videos 😊
@@TheJourneyofJosh each town is divided into barangays
I watched this after your last vlog from Leyte and Cebu, see you in Philippines Season 2!
Continue your journey 😊. You are doing great things.
I did same. Always give the kids a few pesos for snacks from sari sari. Then going to birthday parties and giving the host many pesos for the foods and ice cream for the kids.
Thank You, Josh For The Tour, I Have Seen Lots Of Videos Of This Place, Your's Is The Best, As Lots Have Said You Don't Want to Go Near This Place, Because You Will get Attact, And It's A Bad Place To go, But You Have Proved That Wrong. I Am A New Subscriber, And Live In New Zealand.
Im from the province of the philippines and i was so shock with crowded street with so many children in tondo.
Tondo isn’t dangerous, it can get dangerous at night when some locals get drunk or something. But it’s okay, people there are poor and cheerful people. It will be dangerous if they dont like you and you act arrogant and owns the place. But for the most part they wont bother you.
I see your video in this day Im happy To watch it..I'm Ricks Selma From CEBU im happy your videos brother...Welcome to philippines!!!🎉🎉🎉❤❤
There is always good people in every place
You guys are awesome!!! Filipinos, naturally are decent, kind, caring, hospitable, humble, ppl in general 🇵🇭there are no perfect place and definitely no perfect ppl but God Almighty, I’m humbled by your caring ways towards ppl of the Philippines 🙏you will always be considered as one of us, and you guys are always WELCOME 🙏in all parts of Luzon,Visayas, and Mindanao, in short LuzViMinda 👏🙏🇵🇭♥️♥️
I just love the kids are still playing outside. No tech in their hand. Also you are just having fun with them. Be careful tho. You'll get wasted fast. Drinks in the Philippihes are pretty strong even tho they're only beer. 😂
So Blessed pilipino ❤
hey Josh, If I could suggest, you guys make an effort to write on a piece of paper like a cut card size by a hundred and keep in your pocket. That way you could give those to people asking for the name of youtube your channel. Easy and for sure they will look for it once they have your name on a piece of paper that you gvae them. Just a suggestion.
Instant celebrity❤❤❤❤❤❤
So it seems 😂❤️❤️
Josh, please make a sort of card with your youtube channel in it. so you can give it to people when you are going around any places in the world. so you can easily propagate your channel.
Many people have suggested this, I have since done this but you won't see them in the videos for some time. Thanks for the suggestion 💖
