    Might and Magic VIII takes place on the fictional world of Enroth, upon the continent of Jadame, and acts as a sequel to Might and Magic VII and Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade. Over a thousand years ago, the interstellar war between the Ancients and the Kreegan drove both races off of one of the Ancients' many colony worlds. During the millennium since, the original colonists and natives of that world built their own society and culture from the ruin, the stories of the Ancients and the Kreegan having long since passed into legend. Ten years ago, as depicted in Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, the Kreegan invaded the world. The heroes of Might and Magic VI destroyed the Kreegan Queen, and the last of the Kreegan were wiped out over the course of Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia, Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor and Heroes III: Armageddon's Blade. The Ancients, however, anticipating disaster should the Kreegan manage to gain a foothold on the world, had already enacted a scorched earth plan: rather than let the world fall into the hands of their ancient enemies, they would see it destroyed outright.
    A servant of the Ancients, the planeswalker Escaton, arrives in the village of Ravenshore on the continent of Jadame. Approaching the center of town, he summons a giant crystal which unleashes an elemental storm across the continent. There is widespread destruction and the boundaries to the four Elemental Planes are breached. Now elementals and monsters from beyond the boundaries are threatening to invade, fulfilling Escaton's plan to draw the powers of the elements toward the crystal and destroy the world, and the player must assemble a party of heroes to prevent this.
    The game features several recurring characters from previous titles in the series, including the Elemental Lords from Might and Magic II, the Ironfists from Heroes of Might and Magic, and the necromancers Sandro and Thant from Heroes of Might and Magic III.

      Yeah, MM9 was complete crap. The developers even said it was more-or-less in an alpha state when they had to rush it out.

    • @wadmodderschalton5763
      @wadmodderschalton5763 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      MM9 was considered the low-point to the mainline RPG series, while Heroes 4 was considered a low-point to the Heroes sub-series of games.

    At the 1:35:40 mark, there's a tree next to the river (on the south side) that is actually a disguised chest which will contain an Artifact or Relic. Maybe you weren't aware of that?

      @SvalPlay  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's amazing that after so many years, you can still learn something new about this game! I dug up an old game save and checked. Yes! The tree by the river is a hidden chest! I found some gold, a few scrolls, and a good plate armor. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the artifact. Thanks for the tip!

      @@SvalPlay There are other spots where you can find high-level loot chests. One of them is the Ogre Fort in Alvar; outside, at the top of the rear wall.
      As for you not finding an Artifact or Relic in it, the game caps you on how many you can acquire from random loot. This cap is removed in some iterations of the MM678 Merge mod.

    Loved this game, but it's a little too unbalanced, especially when you reach the midgame and can get dragons into your party. Once you can recruit dragons, a lot of the quests become trivially easy. Still, the game was a lot of fun. Great playthgough, thanks for the upload :)

    Congratulations, player. You stopped Escaton from destroying Enroth and you saved the planet. 👍
    Too bad it will get destroyed in Heroes of Might and Magic IV anyway. 😝

      Yeah, never really liked that part of the story. Especially with Tarnum and all that.

      @@Surtr174 I have grown to dislike and reject all 3DO's Might and Magic because every each of them has been imposed onto New World Computing against their wish to develop a Might and Magic Online MMORPG instead which is the very reason why they sold themselves to 3DO to get support for this wish to begin with, which 3DO denied and imposed more Might and Magic single-player games instead so not a single one of the 3DO's Might and Magic games has been New World Computing's wish and every each of them has been made out of greed to pump money from a popular series.
      I especially dislike the Kreegans because 3DO couldn't make up their mind if they were aliens from outer-space or demons from hell so they are an awfully confusing specie which ruins the credibility of every story into which they were involved, meaning all 3DO's Might and Magic games.
      I used to reject Ubisoft's Might and Magic games because they rebooted the series from scratch and therefore I couldn't consider them as authentic Might and Magic.
      That is, until I eventually reached the conclusion that 3DO had already ruined the original series with all of their games imposed to New World Computing against their wish which were technologically more evolved but whose designs were lame compared to the original New World Computing games.
      I therefore understood that Ubisoft did not destroy Might and Magic, they rebuilt it from scratch after 3DO destroyed it.
      Especially since they reconciled their rebooted series with the original New World Computing's series since they connected their new world Ashan to the original universe's worlds such as VARN, Xeen and Enroth, meaning that Ashan is merely a planet of the original universe and the forgotten Shantiri Empire might actually be the Empire of the Ancients.
      So I have come to reject all 3DO's games and consider Ubisoft's games as the worthy sequel to New World Computing's games, which means Heroes of Might and Magic 5 comes right after Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and Might and Magic X: Legacy comes right after World of Xeen which is its specific model moreover.
      If we think of Ashan as merely one of the many planets seeded by the Ancients just like Terra, Xeen and Enroth then Ubisoft's series is a more worthy successor to the original New World Computing's series than the broken 3DO's series was. 😉
