Martial Arts is the only universal language in the world. You don't need to understand the spoken language but you always understand the movement. There is no bad martial arts style because style is how you interpret it. Salute! :D
Two years late but for mma all styles of karate can work, but you need to add on to it. If you're kyokushin, def add some muay thai flavor to your karate with a pinch of boxing. If you're from a point background, lean heavily into boxing with some muay thai, mostly for dealing with round kicks.
For me MMA is not MA style but only formula of fight such as e.g. K1. it's why so many technically poor fighters we can see in MMA, simply being strong, often bodybuilders and full of testosterone but not too much more :) It results in the fact that many of them avoid standing fight and generally prefere fighting on the ground what makes MMA so boring as compared with e.g. K1 or simple any real MA style championships, like thos of Kyokushin, Judo, Box, Classic wrestling etc.
Dude there is K-1 world champions , undefeated kickboxers, golden medalist in wrestling and brazilian jujitsu world champions in mma. Not to mention there isn't any bodybuilders at the high level in mma.
MMA is the most complete Martial Art, fighters need to be good in kickboxing, grappling, wrestling, muay thai etc. If you were a real Martial Artist you shouldn't say that kind of things.

Both.

What about the other styles? Are they viable as well or only kyokushin?

Ouss 🙏🥋
