Have you ever seen beamng social media? They don’t care bcs they know that they can make more money selling it as a game but yes it’s a simulator they just don’t promote it as one
@@Kr91122 have you ever seen beamng social media? They explicitly state that it was designed as a simulator for soft body physics renditions to help vehicle manufacturers test vehicle safety in an inexpensive way. They decided to publish the game for funding and marketing. It was never the initial goal.
Been playing the game for years but only recently did I start modding it and yea it’s king but the reason is because now I have the second best graphics card you can get with a ton of memory whereas before it was integrated graphics…
You should make a chair that uses Hydraulics to simulate the movement of the monster truck's suspension system, giving you the sensation of driving over rough terrain, jumps, and obstacles. This can be done by adjusting the hydraulic pressure and damping of the suspension system based on the terrain and the speed of the truck.
For an improvised sim setup, you did damn well, I see a lot of people saying to get VR but BeamNG doesn't support it, and VR in driving would get old quick any way, most sim drivers prefer 2-3 big curved monitors lined up to give them an almost 180 degree cockpit view.
It's great seeing Kevin innovating with a great simulator like BeamNG. I've played BeamNG for years, and the CRD Monster Trucks are my favorite mod. When I first saw Game Over was added to CRD's official truck pack after Kevin's first event, saying I was excited was an understatement.
Watching you rip around in the monster truck was like watching the super bowl. Can not wait to see you ripping again! I hope you bring it to the states one day but even more i hope you find some land soon so you can build the practice truck. I was impressed with your build series. Ive been watching you for years and had no idea you could fabricate on that level. Now all you need is your pilots license.

Hey Kev! Awesome setup! Though it looks like every time you shift, Steam for some reason detects your shifter as input for taking a screenshot (the popup on the bottom right). You can change or disable that in the Steam settings as far as i know! Otherwise it will take a screenshot everytime you shift and it will probably fill up your pc storage over time! I also have BeamNG and downloaded the Monster Trucks mod some time ago and was so surprised to see yours! Didn´t know it was something you can actually train with :) I wish you the best of luck for setting everything up mate! Cheers
Damn I should have looked at the comments. I noticed the same thing and posted pretty much the same thing you posted. Also, it looks like you got Kevins attention. 😁
Thank you for showing ALL of the build. Especially the mistakes. I would have totally done the same thing with the keyboard and then had the same problem. It’s cool to watch you think through the process!
Holy crap! I didn't know there was more to BeamNG than what i'd normally come across with people messing about with engines or physics and goofing around. That's quite a serious simulation!
You might want to order dedicated joystick controller board for the shifter and rear steer. The board will appear as separate joystick. Windows should be able to pick it up just fine. Your current configuration has a small issue: every time you switch gears you're making a screenshot.
I'd suggest an ultimarc ipac. You can run it in keyboard or joystick mode and wire any kind of switch to it. We build custom controllers for robots with them but they are really for home built arcade cabinets.
Game Over. That’s the monster truck I like. The Dodge ram 1500 TRX Ignition Edition monster truck is my favorite. My color is ignition black and orange
If anyone is wondering about getting this game I can recommend it completely it is probably the most fun game I have and there is a multiplayer mod for it if you have friends you would like to play it with the name of the multiplayer mod is “Beammp”
You can adjust the degrees of steering in game to match the degrees the real trucks use just turn the steering radius down to about 360°-420° makes the steering alot more realistic
Nice job on the shifter! In the game, and in real life, don’t use the rear steer when you start tipping to one side to save it, just use the front. It’ll make you tip faster in most cases.
I found it to straighten better with rear steer too and in the game it lands ok most of the time, not tried in real life tho! just watched a couple of your vids good job!
@@KevinTalbotTV I just mean when you’re on the ground. (: thanks dude! Been following the build since you had the chassis and enjoy your RC content too!
You can tune a direct drive wheel to feel exactly how you want it. Self centering can be turned off. There's definitely a benefit to going direct drive for your use case. Plus you can use the same wheel you have in the truck. Need a load cell brake pedal as well!
I love BeamNG Drive, been playing it for near about a decade. You should order another fiberglass cab. Put it in your office. Use PVC pipe to simulate the chassis and mount your controls.
I've never seen the day Kevin would play beamNG drive.... for his monster truck 😂 The question is... Do you have a good processor? I've heard beamNG takes a lot of cpu power.... especially in the multiplier mod!
@Kevin Talbot Oh, alrightly then, good luck on beamNG. I've also heard that modded cars can spin out easily if there's too much rpm without slick tires if I recon, so make sure to mess around in the game more if you can.
the game isnt bad to run with one vehicle, but more vehicles require more cpu power due to the amount of physics calculations being done. i have a ryzen 5 5600x and can play with 10-20 cars depending on their complexity
14:05 looks like you've accidentally set the button for one of the gears as the screenshot button too, you can see it says screenshot saved in the lower right corner, might wanna try and change that so you don't fill up your hard drive with heaps of random screenshots :)
Hey you know you can change the camera angle with C or whatever. But if you use the number keys at key 5 it should look just like the interior camera. Except you can move it around with W,A,S,D and wherever you leave it. it will stay there even after you reset!
You can also just look in the controls menu if you need to look for keybinds, or just bind the keys yourself. Be sure to not overlap any keybinds though, that can be quite annoying :)
Look for a FFB (force feedback) wheel or specifically a Direct Drive wheel instead. It vibrates and automatically turns the wheel realistic to bumps and suspension movement, self centers, and gives you proper resistance when turning realistic to on\off throttle, wheel speed, etc.
@@KevinTalbotTV but direct drive really gives more immersion. You have higher dynamics range of ffb. The logitech is fine for hobby driving but for practicing monsterstruck I wouldnt say so. Anyway the clutch pedal has very weak spring so the brake feel must be odd.
Beamng is better than you’d think! It has torque, suspension bypass systems (new), soft body and system physics, and even (unintentionally) air throttle control!
You’re smart for building a simulator - I know that’s what Dennis Anderson has done for a long time and the crazy thing with BEAMNG drive is the math algorithms are SO DAMN GOOD that monster truck should react pretty damn close to the real thing - that’s the entire key with using BEAMNG is the math algorithm in how the vehicles react. They did a test with a real hatch back then recreated the same crash in BEAMNG and it landed and crunched and crashed EXACTLY how it did in real life (you can find the videos if this in TH-cam) I would run your simulator from the cab driver perspective The new steering mosterjam uses is a BIGFOOT 4x4 developed electric motor assisted rack and pinion - dude it’s like you can turn the wheels from lock to lock with one hand like it’s NOTHING. Beautiful system
To hook up your controls to a keyboard, you would need a mechanical keyboard. Individual switches are soldered to a PCB inside a mechanical keyboard, making them suitable for what you were trying to accomplish.
I guess there's probably not a lot of land that you could take your real one outside to practice. That really stinks. But this was a cool alternative to driving the real one.
