I got hooked by the first three episodes and decided to check out the manga and after the last episode I am happy I did. Changing the setting in which some scenes happen is normal, but they leave out quite a bit, which seemed important to me. Something that as grown ups we tend to forget, the Love interest is really, really popular and he decided to help her (I hope that at some point they explain his reason for that), so naturally some people will follow, especially the supporting cast who are just nice people. They don't just like her from the beginning and don't spend all of their time on her until the Love interest tells them too or they tack along with him. However, you are right that it is slow and not much happens.
I can understand why you find the show a little off putting.
I'm guessing if I read the manga I would like it a lot more. It feels like there is a ton of context missing that makes it so choppy and awkward.
@@AnimeWorthWatching Well, for example, after they come back from their hike, the teacher explains, why he could not lead the group and thanks Uka that she brought everyone back safely. In the moment he started talking to her, she doubts herself and thinks he is going to scold her, but that interaction showed her that she was dependable. Yeah sure the other kids thanked her, but hearing it from an adult has a different weight.
Also after she is sick, she shows the yearbook to her classmates who point out that the pictures they see don't fit to the person they know. These are small nuances helping her in her personal growth not only envoked from Miura. Thats what I think at least.
i adored the manga, tbh its a pretty sweet shoujo and i think its defo a copy and paste formula of other shoujo romances nowadays but still nevertheless appealing to women, and ill eat up this trope LMAO
I don't hate the tropes. A Sign of Affection had a ton of the same tropes but I actually really enjoyed it. It's just that the anime feels like a collection of random moments that have nothing to do with each other. I'm guessing the manga is a lot better, because something feels very off about this anime.
@@AnimeWorthWatching 100%, imo modern day shoujo adaptations never do the manga justice, a sign of affection was the last good one i read/watched in a while
