Jason’s not a tether. His attitude in the end car scene is because he was hiding in the locker during the Adelaide & red fight. He heard what had happened is aware.

Zora and Umbray didn’t spend nearly enough time together to prove anything definitively, the two boys were similar in behavior and proximity to their parents, which could also be a reason for their mirrored actions

the rabbits may have been a reference to fibonacci sequence. Fibonacci discovered his famous sequence while looking at how generations of rabbit breed.

I loved how The Tethered represented the lower class. Two great examples are how a) the lower class are inadvertently controlled by the upper class just like The Tethered are controlled by the non-Tethered, and b) the escalator used to reach where The Tethered live represents how easy it is to reach the lower class, but how it is virtually impossible for you or your decedents to escape.

It is never noted that tethered Jason (Pluto) “forgot” how to talk. His mouth is burned so he simply cannot talk. Not to mention the fact that the family keeps alluding to something happening to Jason in the closet the year prior. Makes perfect sense to me. 🤷🏽♀️

Jason is distance and a loner. Pluto is always under his mom. They are the same but also complete opposites from each other. The ying and yang of themselves. I’m thinking that is the same for all the people and their shadows.

This movie scared the crap out of me, but it also made me wonder if people should take the doppelganger theory seriously. Also I like how Jordan Peele throws in all these interesting Easter eggs.
Didn’t mention the baseball game was the Minnesota TWINS
On the dock, Jason backs up first, causing Pluto to back up into the flames. This suggests that Jason is the "real" Jason, and was not switched with Pluto on the previous vacation.
Oppositely, it's suggested that Red's ballet dancing "forces" Adelaide to dance in the tunnels/underground. This suggests that a tethereds actions can force the same behavior from the non-tethered/real person.
If this is true, then Pluto should have been able to walk forward again, out of the flames to safety. This should have forced Jason to walk forward, towards the group.
Slightly off subject, there's a sequence when Gabe and Abraham on are on the lake. At one point, Gabe purposely bangs his head against the boat, almost knocking himself out. This causes Red to lose his grip, allowing Gabe to get away. Did Red bang his head in a similar fashion? Or did he have some sort of voodoo doll-esque pain response?
Lastly, since Jason and Zora are both half-tether, I think Jason inherited more dominant tether DNA/genes than Zora did.
Gabe banging his head against the motor caused it to start and Gabe was caught by the propeller under the water
There no "tethered genes" it's not a medical thing, it's a class system u belong to if you're born underground as a lower level tether u can switch and become an upper level tether because it's only a position in a class based society which is why they only need to learn the upper level language to communicate with the upper level and also how once they switch they even look more appealing without any surgery or explanation of why , upper level tether=good, lower level tether=evil

I took the meaning of this movie to be that we all must realize we’re capable of both good and evil or that we have a shadow and light self in order to prevent the worst from happening. Denying that shadow self is part of us leads to it coming to the surface and destroying our lives or controlling us w o knowing so... so if we confront then accept its existence we can use it to grow into the best selves we can be. But by ignoring the evils in and around us and denying what we are all capable of and pointing fingers at anyone but ourselves, we keep the cycle going and nothing ever gets fixed for the betterment of us all.
this video made me appreciate Us more than before. definitely more ambitious than Get Out
If Pluto is the real Jason, then his self sacrifice into the fire lures the other Jason into Red’s grasp, who appears to have been waiting in that exact position.
The only thing that makes me think they may have been switched is that the clones were created to control the ones above. Jason controlled his clone.

When they ask “who are you” they answer “we are the Americans” that clicked my mind as if they were talking about the series The Americans, witch is about double agents. They also referenced Home Alone. The boy’s t-shirt is from Jaws.
The whole twist with Adelaide being the tether of Red, reminds me of The Simpson Tree House Of Horror VII where Bart is the evil twin of Hugo and Hugo is treated as the evil one and Hugo wants Bart's place.
I saw A Nightmare On Elm Street tape in the opening which I think is a reference to Pluto, his burn scars resemble Freddy Krueger, and his death matches that of Fred as a human, burned to death by the parents of all the kids he killed.
I noticed they did say Jason wasn't the same since last year but no one has mentioned it
My favorite scene was towards the end with the back and forth of the boardwalk scene between the normal people and the other side of how it looks with their tethers as Adalay is walking through the tunnel
wow, yeah, mines too.
seeing how they were in the tethered world made me emotional because it made me think of the house-less and drug addicts on the streets compared to the "normal" world being blind to what's happening and going on.

The fact that Adelaide holds Jason close and seems to have a closer relationship to him than Zara is kind of what gave me the idea that something wasn’t right. The ending still shocked me though! Great movie

Jason being a tethered is a flawed theory. Jason never was said to not know how to speak after being locked in the closet. He showed he could control his other by getting him to walk into the fire (tethers are puppeted by surface dwellers), and his demeanor never changed from constantly frightened.
It may be flawed...but ask yourself.....WHICH ONE WAS REALLY MAKING THE OTHER WALK BACKWARDS??? (Jason without the red jumpsuit ended up in the hands of Red...who is POSSIBLY his real mom..hmmm)

I just watched Us for the first time last night, and I really liked it. Probably one of my favourite horror movies. I hope jordan peele is setting up his own cinematic universe (like a horror cinematic universe or something)
