I listened to an interview with Paul Landers, the band's rhythm guitarist and he said that when they were singing Sehnsucht, American fans thought that they were singing chainsaw. He was totally bewildered by it, bless him. Also, I love the whole "Völkerball" set of performances. Raw, powerful and the fans are 100% invested. Great stuff.
Rammstein played their rehearsal show yesterday, exclusive to a small group of LIFAD fan club members. Tomorrow the 2023 European tour starts. Can not wait!!

I think the majority of the decision making in regards to the pyrotechnics is two-fold: 1. Does it fit the vibe of the song? 2. What would best fit the song, visually, and can we pull it off with our current technology? If a song doesn't have pyrotechnics live, it could be that the song is too mellow, or they don't have the means to pull off what they've envisioned.

I think you put a finger on a globus and rotate at random you stop at mexiko but there is a lot of water around so if you are not careful your finger sinks in the ocean. In typical Rammstein songs something goes wrong. So that mean the longing is not fulfilled.

The mexicass interpretation was valid to me, if you think of europe as the top, and Africa the crutch Allthough, being accurate, if you turn around the earth from North Africa 180°, you'd be aligned to Mexico but you'd land past Mexico in the pacific ocean. The song overall is confusing anyways. And 'Sehnsucht' is sort of a nostalgic feeling/desire which fits the "wo ich einst zuhause war/where I was once at home" Sounds to me like someone is exually bored and later experimenting new stuff with no success.
