The line about Returnal being risky and the headline is the Playstation empire have problems because of not wanting to take risks, “it’s cool that they can do both” got an audible laugh. Great work.
I’ve been wanting a Final Bosman type of show since forever and Delayed Input has that feel while being something entirely new and fresh! Please Kyle, never stop creating and putting your ideas to the world!
I think it's so funny in one of his final bosman episodes he removes the background music for five seconds to show how weird it is, and now his entire new series is like that 😆
AcidTrip69: "How come you don't do bonus bits at the end of your show no more" Bosman: "C'mon kid nobody cares about those." AcidTrip69: "Yeah, but you do don't you?" 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I am guilty of just saying the words "I was gonna say..." And then following it up with absolutely nothing because I realized that it is pointless to say what I was gonna say.
Loving this new series and format Kyle, your original style has always been an inspiration to me, and has motivated me to try more experimental ideas and not just follow popular creative trends keep up the great work!
You don’t really know that. I mean, I’m not saying he’s not. I’m just saying, if you only know what we know as Internet people, you can’t really know that.
See this is why I loved the Final Bosman. I can't think of any other gaming channel that will take a look at something they dismissed and actually go back and do research on how it got there. One if my favorite episodes of the Easy Allies podcast is when he went to look at the history of Spyro instead of writing it off as a Mario clone like so many others.
Man I love this format. Crazy I just have found this channel. I was a fan of him on Easy Allies and I always have figured he is the mind and creativity of EA. Subbed
How many sweaters does Kyle own? Let's find out! Episode 1 - Black cable knit sweater Episode 2 - Cream colored sweater Episode 3 - Red sweater Episode 4 - Red and dark grey color block sweater with black and grey stripes Episode 5 - VERY White Sweater
Kyle you inspired me to learn the magic of improv. Thank you for all that you do man. Your perspective on the videogame industry is unique, funny, and compelling!
I love reading comments like these of new people finding Kyle. This dude has been something else since even the gametrailers days. Excited to see he’s back.
God, I love having you back on a regular basis Kyle. I know you were on twitch, but I can't always catch your streams, so it's nice to have something I can watch on my own time!
Returnal was going to be my "I'll play it while I wait for RE8" game, but I ended up liking it WAY more than RE8 and it's now my GOTY contender. Such a unique and unapologetic game. I have very high hopes for Housemarques next game.
Me: Damn!! You mean I gotta change the name of my game, BigBoyFall? You: I was gonna say, big boy slip is a popular catchphrase in the Easy Allies community.
I actually thought paladins was the superior game to overwatch simple because of the card ability system which allowed you to really customise each character depending on your taste and the map.
100% agree about the roguelikes, in the end the progress that you do keep can be necessary through balancing in the difficulty, like skul or dead cells.
'Returnal' is also the title of my favorite Oneohtrix Point Never album! Trippy Juno synth arpeggiations, a genre called kosmische which means *cosmic,* it actually suits the game!
I love the Dark Sci-fi aesthetics of Returnal. The gameplay looks tight and fun and the audio design seems really immersive. With this, Rachet and Clank and now Horizon Forbidden West I'm really excited about getting my hands on a dualsense and firing up a my new PS5 in the near future
Arcade was never dead! I've been team Roguelike day 0, baybee. Kyle Bosman when are you hitting up the Improv Store. You know, I was gonna say... Stellar show, man.
Arcade was dead because producers were sold on the idea that it was dead. So finding cash was hard af. In the 2010s it all clammed up cos all the investors were 200% convinced that the next gen of games consoles would crash and burn cos people all had phones now.
Hard agree on all the things. I always thought Housemarque talents were wasted in the 2d space - really fuckin loving the result of them breaking out of it for a change.
I agree Returnal is totally worth the $70. I got it on disc used and im going to buy the digital copy when rent is paid just so I can hop in and out of the game as I please.
If you go and watch Sormdivers gameplay you can see that Returnal uses the a lot of elements from that project. So i have to be thankful in a way that they decided to mess with the battle royal formula because that led to Returnal being made.
I'm on about 80 hours in Returnal, it's just amazing... I don't particularly like hard games either. But the way they weaved the narrative into the genre and how it sparks debate about what is happening... it's just a masterpiece imo. I hope the sales reflect that.
I did some playtesting for Stormdivers a while back and I have to say - It *really* never had a chance. I knew from the moment I tried it that it would be dead in the water, much like a lot of multiplayer projects that have released in the last decade to little fanfare. As such, Returnal is and was the greatest possible outcome by comparison.
I've played Outland, Dead Nation, Resogun, Alienation, Nex Machina and Matter Fall so I expected Returnal to be good but I never expected it to be this good. I'm over 80hrs of playtime and I have unlocked the secret ending already but I just can't stop playing it. I hope the game gets a DLC with new areas, enemies and weapons.
On the subject of the conversation we don't wanna have... so next gen games have bumped up from $60 to $70, that sucks. They have gone from £40-45 ($56-63) to £70 ($99). That is a steep assed increase up to what I think is an unreasonable price point. I am actually really interested in Returnal but I'm having a hard time bringing myself to buy it, not because I don't have the money, but because it feels wrong spending that much money on one game on principal, and I don't want to accept that £70 is going to be the new standard... but it seems next-gen games are selling just fine here despite that price hike so it's a pill I'm probably gonna have to swallow sooner or later.
I'm in the same boat. Games industry has a wider audience now and it definitely feels like companies that are doing great are price hiking 10%+ just because. The process to make a game has gotten longer, but so many processes have been simplified as well. When compared to Disney/Marvel debuting hit after box office hit at the usual theatre ticket price, the $70 move boggles my mind. These games are PS5 exclusive on purpose and it still could have been ported to a wider audience on PS4.
Yeah, and it's especially jarring since the last few years I've avoided buying most games at release because of bugs and just thinking I might as well wait for updates/dlc while also getting it for cheaper in sales or just natural price drop. So now just having bought a PS5 I'm sitting here with no actual PS5 games because I couldn't bring myself to spend what is NZ$130 for Demon's Souls lol. The first thing I'm actually gonna be buying that's PS5-exclusive will be the FF7R dlc haha.
I felt for a long time watching Stormdivers development that Housemarque was making a huge mistake and that game was going to kill their company, which is a damn shame because I believed they could make decent games if they had freedom and some money to roll in. Sony threw them a bone and may have saved their company, but until it comes to PC, I'm stuck unable to play it because I can't get a PS5 :( EDIT: IT'S OUT ON PC AND IT'S FUCKING GREAT
I find that 'Arcade is Dead' article title pretty ironic for me, knowing 2017 was probably the time I played the most at actual arcades in the past 5 years.
I do watch these in bed, with the lights off, my boyfriend not paying attention. But today I'm visiting home and in my own bed. White sweaters welcome!
Holy shit. As someone who plays his PlayStation Vita every other night in bed while my fiance is falling asleep and am super conscious of the brightness of my handheld's screen, the first 20 seconds of this video really spoke to me.
I believe the reason certain people are picky about Roguelike/Roguelite is that Roguelike is a much older term, referring to games that came out around the same time as the original pretty much copying it, one could argue that it's like calling a modern fps a 'doom clone'. I wouldn't argue this, 'doom clone' never had much traction even at the time, by 1996 it was dead. Roguelike is also still a pretty narrow subset already, it's not like it's referring to Streets of Rage and Mario as Sidescrollers.

I think it's so funny in one of his final bosman episodes he removes the background music for five seconds to show how weird it is, and now his entire new series is like that 😆
I remember that haha! But he got rhythm in his speech now so no bg music is required!
I am 100% guilty of being the "i was gonna say" guy and I've never felt more called out it my life 🙃
Right? This is going to haunt me forever
It depends how you use it. Maybe more accurate would be to use. "I was waiting to tell someone"
I was gonna say "darthmarth87 is the I was gonna say guy".
same here
OH NO I MIGHT ALSO BE THE GUY
The bonus segments are becoming their own videos at this point.
AcidTrip69: "How come you don't do bonus bits at the end of your show no more"

Is Kyle actively going for the “80s family photo shoot” with that backdrop and his continued fashion choices?
If so, it’s working a treat.
I was gunna say that looks like a ‘old school’ photoshoot…hahe heha
I dont think it's intentional 😞
Yeah, I love that Kyle is back and what he does here, but to be honest, that background is ugly. XD
LOL.. I graduated high school in 1983 and pretty sure that was the background on my Senior Pictures

He’s heating up! The comedy is on point. Love the confidence and energy in this episode. Great editing also. Keep it up, dude.
Kyle - Tetris 99 is a successful Battle Royale! I know you are a Tetris purist but I feel this deserves some recognition :D (es tut mir leid)

Returnal is gonna win the game award of the year 2021 i really don't see any other games coming out better than this
Absolutely ADORED Returnal. The Housemarque gameplay is finetuned to perfection
I was gonna say Returnal is good!
I am really enjoying Returnal too. The atmosphere and movement is so good. Wish I had more time and didn't share the PS5 with someone.
*I was gonna say Kyle, you're a really nice guy and I appreciate your existence.*

Love the episodes, Kyle. You're getting really good at this. Thanks man.
My "I was gonna say" is I knew Returnal was going to be excellent from their first reveal of it. Everyone else was like meh. But I knew!!
The shivers you got from the gameplay reveal. I got you. (for posterity returnal is on my fantasy critic team)
@@Hedgeyy Thank you bro!
seeing as returnal is almost alien nation but in 3rdperson AAA version of it... i also saw it was going to be good.
I totally agree. Housemarque knocked it out of the park.

I was gonna say . . . The game title you're looking for is Materfall.

First true next gen expierience with Returnal. Such a fantastic game and i hope they go bigger and more metroid-vania with a sequel.

Returnal is when someone announces they're leaving facebook, and you learn years later that somehow led to them marrying a gorgeous millionaire.

I was gonna say that's a good song!
If you look at Hi-Rez studios and their game history, they are the epitome of "I was gonna say."
They even jumped into the MOBA market late.
Sadly yeah. I loved their first game, Global Agenda, which was a very original MMO
Man, their Tribes:Ascend game was awesome. Number 1 CTF game. I hope they get their heads back together.
I actually thought paladins was the superior game to overwatch simple because of the card ability system which allowed you to really customise each character depending on your taste and the map.
Paladins is massively underrated, it does so many things better than Overwatch while being F2P but the industry was too quick on calling it a clone.
i was gonna say... thats a bright ol sweater
Returnal is a game I'm very hyped for!
Great video! So happy returnal exists
Gonna make a video game named Bosmanfall
Call it BosFall and it be an endless boss rush game, might just work actually

Returnal is Metroid-souls-arcade-shooter perfection. Sony needs to buy housemarquee as their team is almost 100 people. They could be a huge grab.
Hard agree on all the things. I always thought Housemarque talents were wasted in the 2d space - really fuckin loving the result of them breaking out of it for a change.

Jesus how I watched this religiously in the early to mid 2010s. Bosman, Pach-Attack, other stuff on GameTrailers, all part of a balanced E3 hype.
PS4->PS5
$60->$70
That's 25% more PS for only 16% more $, what a bargain!

Matterfall has a great soundtrack! By the same composer as Resogun and Nex Machina, Ari Pulkinnen. Great synthwave vibes on all those scores
