Would you ever consider using a jetpack to get around?

Yes, but if we already put hydrogen on worldwide market grid, wingman, vtol, jetpack will become reality, that why hydrogen revolution worldwide is needed.

Sure would however technology needs to improve still.

From "can we make a jetpack", the conversation has turned to "what is jetpack useful for". That's a massive progress!

I’ll all in for the jet pack racing.

Agreed. A lot of new tech comes out of Formula 1 racing, I'd expect the same from jetpack racing.

16 minutes setup and 16 second transfer + risk of drowning...
It's great fun and good for show, but that's about it!

Cool but I wish they would nt bullshit the horse pwr.If they actually straped 1000 horse pwr to that light of weight,it would flattin your eyeballs out when you launched.

Gonna get real busy on that mountain. Who rescues the rescuer?

The biggest issue is you have 3 minutes of fuel and even if you did fly to an injured hiker in the middle of nowhere its not like you can fly them back down it just doesn't seem practical for much of anything other than for pure enjoyment being able to fly would be pretty badass!!!

It does have some merit, even if you can't transport the patient back down and (currently) have only limited capacity for medical equipment. Because the paramedic who reaches the patient with this can
      a) assess the patient's condition and urgency of care
      b) can attempt to stabilise the patient
      c) can scout for and mark appropriate landing zones or pickup points for helicopters if necessary.
All of those are tasks that I'd rather see performed by a trained professional, than by a layperson in distress being advised by telephone/radio.
Yes, the system's capabilities are currently limited, but that's true with any new development.

Put hydrogen on pack, for extending fly times.

+ your rescue equipment has to come on a drone, since you already have 100lb jetpack on you, and no space for anything else!

My car broke, I was considering it as a possible reality to get from point A to point B. I may have to wait a few more years. Electric scooter maybe....I wish I knew how to fix my own car. I hate having to wait for my space in the mechanic's schedule, when I need to be mobile each and every day, not just sometimes. The bus doesn't run there in any reasonable amount of time. Alas....I'm stuck. Aaaaaa

Jet pack, I would love to try it out, but a 1000 horsepower? Maybe 80 to 100 pounds of thrust and that would be difficult to control.

I think they'll have a niche application in emergency rescue/military applications but as for people zooming between cities? Not so much... Though I could see high-end ski resorts here in Canada or Switzerland using these to quickly assess ski accident/post-avalanche victims and the like...

    • @stickynorth
      @stickynorth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Also I could see these being hydrogen(peroxide) powered for energy density/safety reasons... Possibly with a fuel cell/electric turbine set up... Battery electric? Nah!

    • @stickynorth

Commercially? I agree. A niche application that maybe will only work for military/paramedic/spy shit and that's a very small market indeed! It's the next Segway and not in a good way most likely..

Ridiculous. You have to support your whole weight from your downpointing arms. One arm twitch and you’re tumbling and headed into the ground. Broken neck or broken legs are likely. Not good!
