Thanks to CCDG for their coverage. I'm watching this as I heal from hip replacement surgery. The dulcet tones of Nathan Queen have healing powers! Keep up the.good work y'all!
As a Minnesota boy, I have nothing but love for my Iowa friends! I think they work more on the their courses than they actually play! Nothing but respect for them!!!
First shot: GG 494 ft on a pure (and steep) hyzer angle.😲 It's awesome I know that thanks to you guys having some of the best stats and info graphics in the DG broadcasting biz.
Paul Mcbeth is without a doubt the best disc golfer of all time. The consistency this man brings week after week is unmatched. Never forget it took a 240 foot throw in to beat him.
They are both terrible ads. Which definitely matches the person behind the ad, and I'm guessing matches the quality of the product. Absolutely terrible.
I've tried and tried to do Calvin's putt, but I just don't get how he gets the power with the early release and hardly any follow through. Mind boggling.
@@bepriceless finish your putt with your palm up. Pop your fingers on the underside of the disc from the grip position, to an open palm with your palm towards the sky. Practice getting that pop off your fingers without moving your arm or body. Then when you can get the putter to pop out of your hand, add the arm motion toward the basket, then your legs.
Thank you for covering this event, I’m enjoying the commentary. I’m a little surprised you didn’t mention the Foundation “hit for charity” basket on hole 5. I understand there is growing competition between the various disc golf “communities”, but we should all lift each other up as we are all striving to grow the sport. (I have no affiliation with Foundation, I simply appreciate their efforts as well.)
He's a push/ loft putter (à la Greg Barsby) so if you mean "straighten out" as in throw it straight like a spin putter, I don't see that happening. If you just mean work on his putt, then... yea, I agree.
The new Garret Gurthie commercial is really well done. They seem to have an awesome marketing strategy. Idk who to credit for it but God damn they're doing good for JUST STARTING!
Couldn't have happened to a better guy. He's always been well known and liked but never had the tournament putting success like Paul, Ricky, Eagle, etc. Drive for show, putt for dough OR!! Drive for distance competitions, sling jerky for dough. I can't wait to see how his life has changed a year from now. He'll be the best payed person on tour in 10 years with the right people behind him and making smart moves like he is now.
@@OneHippiesMusings when Eagle McMahon's kid, Falco McMahon, is on tour wearing all sponsored Nike and Adidas sportswear, getting paid a million a year from tournament wins, making more than that from his shoe sponsor (let alone his disc sponsor), I hope he's munching on some double G filet mignon jerky while he's doing it.
great coverage, I liked the commentary and the jump marks for the different holes. I would love if you could add the speed in kilometers and the throw distance in meters 🙂 and the commentators names in the video description and/or maybe a short clip of them sitting in the booth at the start of the video
11:52 Is that how they get drive speed? The guy holding the key fob on the left? If so, they need to be more directly in line with the direction the disc is going. Doppler velocity will drop off in relation to the sine angle between observer and the object. If it's a 45 degree angle your reading will be half the actual speed.
Good catch with that! The device is actually a "Ball Coach Pocket Radar", likely one of the two I gifted Central Coast Disc Golf back in 2017 to assist their coverage. As you perfectly observed, the person taking speeds is woefully out of position. They're at a bad angle relative to the disc, and also on the wrong side of the thrower. You need to be on the same side the disc releases, or the person's body will block the disc until it's way out in front of them. The Ball Coach Radar is extremely accurate when it's in line with the disc's release point, but every few degrees away from that will lower the displayed speed by 1 MPH. You can actually see the Ball Coach displaying 43 MPH in that shot at 11:52, which is probably 15-20 MPH slower than Terry threw his forehand. Later on in the broadcast, you see other obviously inaccurate readings, like Paul's 345 uphill park job with a super overstable disc showing only 52 MPH. I texted Ian about the issue this evening, so hopefully they give some instructions to the radar guy going forward. I actually suspect it was probably just a brand new volunteer who has never taken speeds before. They've had highly-accurate readings in the past.
Paul, why still bag that infamous Uli Raptor? It was the disc that went OB during the playoff at the world championship. . . Personally, I'd never throw it again.
Hole 3 is insane! Almost 500 feet directly over water with the basket barely over the shore so if you do make it on land you’re probably going to be far and have a death put at the water. Gnarly.
Watching those straddle putts from GG, can some1 explain how they are not footfaults.. Look like his right leg is way closer to basket than the marker is
I'm sick to my stomach after watching Terry's hole 6. That's such a bad beat. Edit: badass comeback on hole 8. Love this content, it flow so smoothly and no wasted time. Thanks!
I can't help but feel like Garrett needs to develop a more reliable, more conventional putting stroke. Every tournament, he's as solid as anyone in the field from tee to green, but anything outside of 15 feet seems like an adventure. He's a bit like the big, all-star center on an NBA team that can score 40 points a game, but can't hit a free throw to save his life.

Great commentary and chemistry . I’ve dissed queen for his monotone commentary that makes me sleepy but I think he’s improving now.
