First time I watched it kinda put me off because I love Jimin natural voice, but after album release I appreciate it more now. He tries different styles and he is good in all of them.

jimin actually talked with yoongi about set me free in his suchwita episode. yoongi said that he would written lyrics for him, if he knew, but jimin at the end wanted it to be a solo song, because its his first album. he didnt want any features, similar to hobi i guess
he said that since it was about him he didn't feel right having someone else write for him, it's a very personal album and he wanted to write his story

I cried with this reaction. We love Jimin as who he is and it breaks our hearts when people mock him since the beginning. Now were proud of him as he sets himself free but please he still needs our support. We continuously defend him you know from the toxic world. We wanted him to be happy. When he knew his Set Me Free Pt2 went #30 Billboard Hot 100 he was very happy. I cried of happiness seing him how happy and thankful he was. He is such a humble King!

the writing on Jimin's body is a german poem called, "ich lebe mein leben in wachsenden ringen" or I live my life in growing circles by Rainer Maria Rilke.
For unknown reason official translation are more "I live my life in (ever) widening circles" (I have no idea why but this is what comes up).
Personally I'd translate the last line as "great hymn" or "mighty hymn" but the translation into English decided more on "great song" (?).

honestly, i was shocked silent when i first watched this and had to rewatch it a few more times just to grasp and wrap my head around what jimin just did 😂😂😂 he is something else and i love him more for doing this. set me free pt.2 is just so different and unexpected especially coming from him, enough that some /people/ hated it. yes. hated it. and i think it’s because they boxed jimin in their own concept of what he should do for his solo work. and seeing and hearing set me free pt.2 greatly disappointed and let them down.
anyway, me, as already mentioned, I LOVE THIS. and the rest of the songs on his album. jimin really worked hard on each song and it shows. he really found a way to convey and share what he experienced and the emotions he felt in each song.

the way you went into depth about how you needed actual solo work from jimin in order for him to cement his spot as one of your favorite soloists at 30:43 resonated with me sooooooooo deeply. for me, he's been an artist that i've been anticipating since 2016 upon the release of BTS' album 'Wings' and his solo b-side 'Lie'. although there are songs he released between then and now (more solo b-sides plus Promise and Christmas Love, both of which are finally on paid streaming platforms) that were produced and/or composed by him, nothing can really compare to a solo debut where he's in his true element with full creative control. FACE was the BEST solo debut by a k-pop artist in my opinion and it also made me realize that i'll never be able to dedicate my love to any performer like i do to jimin.
also! the autotune wasn't well received by some non-fans (99% being antis) because of how unexpected it was--like you said, we're all used to only hearing his higher register--and it was refreshing to hear an opinion from someone who actually loved and more importantly understood the sound he was going for. i really wish i found this video sooner in the midst of the hateful madness i was forced to witness 😭 your kind words and appreciation for jimin makes me so happy and prideful 🥹💛super excited to watch your Like Crazy reaction!!

I've been so impressed with all of their solo releases but Set Me Free Pt2 is my favorite so far for Chapter 2. I love how they incorporated the auto-tune into this dark concept. It's so badass! I'm so proud of Jimin. He deserves all the accolades he's getting for this album.
I expected something like this! But not all of the unexpected we got! I loved every second of this choreo! Also the auto tune on his vocals was mind blowing! This was so epic! I always felt Jimin had so much more in him to release! And this just proves it! Congrats to Jimin! So happy for him!

I am also a person who doesn’t enjoy autotune. BTS (or the house producers) tends to use autotune A LOT, and as much as I love BTS, sometimes I do wish the songs weren’t so much autotuned. However, I know that the autotune was never done to cover up anything but a stylistic choice. With this song, I just understood it. I understood why autotune was used to paint this inner struggling distorted voice. We are literally watching a cinema, a movie of a protagonist going through all stages of emotions, and we can hear the inner conversations with himself (where the distorted autotune comes in), to the final triumphant “setting himself free”. Honestly, I was so affected by this performance that I couldn’t do anything but think about this song and performance for the whole week. I mean I was not emotionally even ready for the title song release. This WAS a cultural reset indeed. I’ve never experienced such feeling before, EVER. I love everything about this album, and I think Jimin is a bonafide artist and a star of his own right.
Finally, someone in this channel clear what the purpose of autotune here 👏👍while others only said it is too loud. 🥺

Firstly, I need to thank you for the reaction! Kulture Study is definitely my fav review of kpop music. Hope you will react to the whole album or just the main track. I'd love to see it!
So, I was a little frustrated when people were saying that Set Me Free Pt. 2 was "too autotune, not fitting for Jimin, a mess". And yeah, I'm not saying you should love every aspect of the song but hating on music is not the way. If you look at the whole album and the premise of it, actually everything makes sense.
As it was said, the whole album is « inspired heavily by the emotional impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jimin as a person and performer, the album addresses "themes of loneliness, wrestling with oneself, and finding freedom". » That being said, heavily autotune song is definitely NOT what Jimin has done before. It portrays the war between himself, exhausting him as his voice doesn't sound human. Pandemic made us all feel nonhuman - stagnant lives inside four walls, interactions between people were minimized to almost zero, losing family members, friends due to terrible outcome of covid. All of it lead to anger and negative emotions. For me, this song is a manifestation of these emotions and was not meant to show his angelic airy voice and be "pretty".
Top tier breakdown! I love the use of auto tune on this particular track. It feels so painful, and suits the mood and message of the song. The choreo is claustrophobic, everything is so nuanced, the lighting, the outfits the - all of it! Haha 🔥

@@luancosta199 there’s no one that can say this song is objectively bad, keyword objectively. It is by far extremely well produced, some producers even saying it’s their favorite BTS song to date. If some say it’s bad, it’s because they can’t get used to the sound, maybe “Letter”, “Promise” or “Like Crazy” is their style cause Set me Free is not that guy lol. As someone who is used to hip hop, autotune, it’s a banger.
You have pictures that you can hang in your house. Nice, pretty, you buy it at a store to spruce your background. Then you have that art that makes a statement, bright, bold, harsh lines and designs. You can’t ignore it, it sparks conversation. That’s the one you go to see in galleries, some don’t understand the appeal but those that it resonates with loves it and will spend thousands.
This is that art. It’s shocking, a statement and if you love it you LOVE it. Jimin wasn’t trying to appeal to the masses in this song, it is by no means basic. I love the controversy because it is warranted, this song is a statement. I applaud his bravery to come out with this when the last people heard of him was his OST “With You”.

They didn't like how the song sounded, but were completely oblivious as to WHY it sounded this way. And I think the "this doesn't sound like Jimin" comments completely missed the point of this album: we DON'T KNOW JIMIN, both fully as an artist an a person. Its absolutely not our place to try to tell HIM what sounds like him or not. And tbh, having more than surface level knowledge of his personality is more than enough to not be surprised by this at all. To me this sounds a LOT like him and his struggles.

Jimin was always my favourite vocalist too. I like that Suga said to Taeyang, "Jungkook is a genius who is good at everything he does, but Jimin is a different kind of genius, who worked for it." I think Jimin developed a voice that no one else can imitate without sounding like a ripoff, and his heart just shines in it.

Totally agree: cultural reset by JIMIN. A total immersive art experience. He had input into everything and oversaw everything. A true artist, and the whole thing is like a pure art piece. The music, the dancing, the choreo that says so much about the lyrical meaning, the cadence changes, the way autotune got used for effect to emphasise the meaning it was all incredibly pure art!!!!

Pdogg said Jimin would end kpop with this and booyyyy was he right! Loved your reaction! Mine was similar with a lot more unintelligible sounds. My favorite thing about this song is how cohesive it is. The triumphant beat, the warcry-esque choir, his sharp vocals, those cutting but fluid movements, the call and response thing in the 2nd verse with the autotune and vocal effects along with the mv set being a concept of a panopticon. And that ending! Breaking free from a watched system of control as well as freeing himself from his own self thats putting shackles on him and his emotions! It was cathartic, liberating, JUST AAAAGH Purging almost! And done in a way only he could. Its amazing. 100/10. And after listening to the album and this being the closer?! Park Jimin has ARRIVED!

I may not be a BTS fan. I have a lot of issue with their direction, but this definitely made me a Jimin fan.
The autotune voice and the other vocal effects voices are supposed to be the darker voices in his head. He's using the effects to make them sound inhumane. The dancers are also playing the different voices in his head hence the screaming scene with chaos in the start representing the madness you can feel in your mind sometimes. One of the dancers mentioned Jimin was heavily involved in instructing them what to do to play out the story. The location they're in represents a cage. I'm not sure if you noticed but during the ending you can hear Jimin's background vocals in a much more timid and soft voice pleading "would you please set me free". It's an incredible representation of all the different thoughts in your head in darker times. Jimin did an amazing job and both wrote and composed this song and came up with a lot of the ideas and the concept for the MV. I'm so proud of him

Antis have managed to spread the narrative that people didn’t like the song while almost everyone who listened to it loved it! They tried to use the auto tune to drag him but every professional spoke about how tastefully it was used! But yet antis opinions have somehow magnified due to people constantly talking about them or replying to them even though it was a small group while everyone else clearly enjoyed it! The song is absolutely killer!

The album dropped 3 last March 24 , now the title track "LIKE CRAZY" MV has been out and has been in all charts all over the world. Dance practices for both songs are out now. Jimin was a guest of JImmy Fallon for a talk and performance. I will wait for the album review. TIP: you have to listen to the songs in chronological order. This video blew me away, I feel that its a Masterpiece and I agree its the Greatest thing I have ever seen for a soloist. It's on par with *ON*, but as you said that took the whole group and here he did it alone with his team of dancers. Your reaction was the one I searched for when this first came out . I watched other reactions while I waited for yours .You are who I look for as I respect the passion and the depth you bring to your reactions. Jimin DEFINATELY doesn’t need auto tune but it adds another element to the song and I am here for it 💜 someone commented somewhere that the auto tune parts were like a conversation with himself and I agree with that. This was amazing!!! And I love how different this and Like Crazy are. Both so amazing but so different. I am so proud of Jimin 💜
