    If you buy sweet feed and a cheap concrete mixer you can put it in there with rice bran and it will cost the pellets and they won’t be sticky any longer.

    In Georgia mineral blocks use is spring to early fall. After first cold snap they shut down coming to the mineral blocks. Example from daily use to once to twice a month.

      Yes it probably would, but unfortunately, I am losing my whole deer population as a result of the extreme drought I am in. Had a skinny little fawn walk up into my yard just yesterday. I tried to save it but it died anyways. I have had less than 2 inches of rain in 18 months and the ground is so dry that the grass has disintegrated and turned to dirt. Foud two deer dead on the side of the road half a mile from my house. The only grass left is next to the edge of the road, so they are getting killed off daily by cars. I do not expect any deer on my land to survive .

    Do your research and ask some biologists if deer can eat the amount of Copper thats in a bag of sweet feed on a regular basis and then ask if it will affect them in any way before actually going and buying a bag of sweet feed to suppliment your deer herd with. THEN you'll understand why it's not suggested to feed the deer sweet feed.

    I have the same Moultrie feeder. I fill it with all stock sweet feed and the deer empty it out in two days.

    I have the ability to hunt 100 acres in lamb county west of Lubbock tx. I Have used sweet feed in my area and I continue to use it to this day. The neighboring land owners ask what I use and they get upset when they see no deer signs at their feeders when they use that expensive antler max or Purina deer feed. I found it best to use the sweet feed for it's protein and I put out a 20% protein during and a week after the rut then go back to the 12%. Corn is just used to attract the deer it really has no nutritional value for them, it can create a high level of acidosis for the deer. Feeding them the protein will help with what they loose when they can't find too much forage or browse during the winter months. I have used alfalfa pellets as alfalfa is also got nutrients and protein they need.

    The fruity pebbles like to mold with the least mount of moisture. Wonder if corn and sweet feed mix would go good mixed together in a trough

    I have two 600 lb. protein feeders, each with six baffles. These are gravity driven, as yours are. After watching your video, sweet feed might work as well or better than more expensive feed like Antler Max. You mentioned sweet feed has some stickiness. Would this be a problem in a large gravity feeder? Also, do you mix feed with corn during Spring /Summer months? I live in rural North Texas, Young County, on a farm. I also have four spreader feeders that I use with a roasted soybean/corn mixture that works well with solar spreader motors. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    (I also use multiple game cameras. I have lots of pics of good bucks, all ages, during and immediately after, deer season. I also have numerous wild hogs, so use hog wire around feeders, creating 40 diameter circular pens. These hog wire panels do keep hogs out. Deer simply jump over the 34" panels, into the pens).

    Do you have any luck with mature bucks coming in daylight during season to your feeders?

    • @thejungleexplorer
      @thejungleexplorer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In early season Bucks are in the rut and only have one thing on their mind, chasing tail. They don't eat much of anything during this time. But once the rut is over, they are very hungry and will come to food. People think that deer like corn, but that is not entirely true. They will eat it f they are hungry, but it is more of a snack item to them, not a meal item. Sweet Feed is something they will eat just like a goat or a cow. It is food to them and they really like the smell f it.

      @@thejungleexplorer nice! I have my own place now and want to establish year round feed and considering feeders just not sure which style to go with. I've always just poured on ground. Any advice is appreciated

    • @thejungleexplorer
      @thejungleexplorer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sethpayne9616 I like your plan. I have been doing this for about ten years. I run corn year around in my feeder to keep my local deer close. I also plant small food plots. Food plots are very important. Because I live in the Texas desert, I keep a water source year-round for them as well. I use trace mineral blocks, like for cattle, year-round as well.
      As far as feeders go, mine are the cheap wild game innovations that I bought at Walmart on sale after the end of the season, for like $40. I have had them for many years and they do the job just fine. Occasionally, I have to replace a motor, battery, or timer, but the feeders themselves have held up well. There are lot of new feeders on the market that are probably much better than my old cheapies, but as long as they get the job done, I am satisfied.

    If you Mix Beef Fishiner, and Goat Ration with Whole Oats and Rabbit feed, Then add in 2% bird feed and Lentiles. it won't stick and Deer LOVE LOVE IT!!
