What I think, and I'm basing this around in-game lore,is that Roland is just a Grade 9 fixer with the skills of a Grade 1, and the gear equipment of a Colored Fixer.
Plus, he could have just recovered all of his Stagger by getting a kill. And, he could have recovered a large chunk of his Health by simply using Crystal Atelier, which heals.
The funny thing, I didnt even know Library Of Ruina existed before I ran across Manifest Red Mist and the Black Silence event in that game. I now play Library Of Ruina, and im enjoying it a lot!

to my knowledge, this is how black silence works: you’re given up to 8 cards and up to 5 lights, light is generated after an attack(1 per attack, increasing with phase) and through certain cards(maybe killing idk), and cards are given after attacking and certain cards. light limit can be increased by going through higher phases the red die shows the attack value, which determines how many damage does this move deals, and all attacks lower than this value will be parried, negating all incoming damage for the duration of the dash. the value of the attack die can be increased with the “strength” effect. the blue die is the defense value, which decreases damage taken by its value for the duration of the attack if no attack dice is active. the red bar is the conventional “if it reaches zero you die” bar, aka health bar the yellow bar is the stagger bar. it is consumed when you successfully parry attacks with attack dice. something happens if it reaches zero
If you play Library of Ruina, you would know how it works. In the bottom left, there's roman numerals under his health bar and stagger resist, which is his emotion level. You get emotion level from winning clashes or defeating enemies. When your emotion level goes up, you get full light, an extra dice and sometimes an extra light. Some cards in the game do actually give light, though. I don't know how accurate this is to Allusions, though. If you have any questions, I can do my best to answer them.

Library of ruina is like DND roll a dice and whoever gets the higher dice deals dmg to the enemy Blue shield dices doesn't attack but even when you roll lower you will take less dmg. Use against fatal attacks.. if you get a higher roll than the enemy deflect Blue dash: roll a dodge dice where if it is higher than the attacker. Dodge the attack and keep the dodge dice until you get hit or enemy is out of moves
Sadly the only thing that makes Black Silence strong now is its insane HP pool if ur counting all 4 phases but since he cant dash now + its HP has been reduced to 100 and the Damage output in general is just absolute garbage its really hard to get some decent progress with it.
Sometimes chasing those kinda people isn’t the optimal play because they can be dodge gods and end up baiting you into wasting time fighting them instead of getting your emotion level up.
Eehhh, it happens much less often now, I swear jug is rigged to have Minos like 2/3 of the time and have Remilia and Roland share the rest of that percentage.

It can be, considering Library Of Ruina’s gameplay mechanics, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time. Here’s some tips: 1. Always use the free cards, Ranga Workshop and Zelkova Workshop (Both do decent damage and Ranga applies Bleed) 2. Always use Old Boys Workshop and Mook Workshop (Both restore 3 light on use) 3. Always use Wheels Industry (High damage, high stun time, surprisingly quick, and easy to hit) 4. Unless you need Furioso, please don’t use Atelier Logic (Inconsistent hitbox and range) 5. Only use Furioso if you know you’ll land it. On top of that, make sure to use Durandal first, as it gives you Damage Buffs for your next 2 turns (Represented by red arrows on you HUD) if you land both slashes. Depending on luck, you could get a whooping 55 damage with a buffed Furioso.

Plus, Block Dice gives a randomized Damage Reduction for him. So, the most optimal strategy to kill him is to hit him while he's clashing with the others, or remembering his last position before he goes on a clash and goes ham when he returns there (he always return to last position). In summary, target him before he targets you. And if you are targeted, try your best to give some hits back, sustain the damage, or run away altogether.

After all, Black Silence is the one who screws up the entire section of the City just because his wife is dead (tbf, murdered in the most gruesome way imaginable).
