The average age of the American soldier during World War II was 26. The average age of American soldier in Vietnam was 19. The average age of the Ukrainian soldier today is in the mid 40s! They have lost a generation of young men and have absolutely no shot to defeat Russia, militarily. Here in the USA, inflation and interest rates are high. The border is unsecure, and we cannot go on writing a blank check to Ukraine for a no-win war.

    • @bobgillis1137
      @bobgillis1137 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

My take is the Ukraine war is also aimed at us, the citizens of Canada and America. It is the excuse to choke off cheap energy, and employ this scenario to achieve WEF goals. Our politicians are literally starving many through inflation, taxes and war expenses, not mention innundating immigration.
This is all done at the terminal expense of Ukrainian youth.

@@scottp8461 I do admit I made assumptions that their draft age was around 18 when multiple media sources report their average age soldier was 43-45. After reading your comment, I see their minimum draft age is 25, recently lowered from 27. 25-43, still seems like a generation to me. Where am I lying? It seems like you also made assumptions about my comment. If you were going to tell me about draftdodgers, and mother’s fleeing the country with their sons under that age, then that’s even more reason to question our support for a war that they are not fully committed to.

The US forcefully defended itself in 1962 by blockading Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis (rightfully so) which almost started WWIII. How can anyone seriously watch the steady march of NATO eastward to the Russian border and the military coup in Ukraine (supported by the West) which replaced a pro-Russian President, and still say that Russian action in Ukraine is unprovoked? I completely disagree. In 1940, the Nazis practically controlled the whole of Europe after the occupation of France - the only one that remained unsubdued was Great Britain, which had only a small human resource with rifles in hand and 200x fighter planes to defend Great Britain from Nazi bombers and, further, landing operations in the British Isles itself. Virtually all heavy equipment was abandoned on the coast of Dunkirk when the Nazis besieged the British and French garrisons. The situation looked hopeless for the British, but they decided to fight and were able to defeat the Nazis in the Atlantic Ocean with the right tactics over time, controlled the skies over the English Channel and the British Isles, defeated Rommel and the Italians in North Africa, pushed the Nazis out of Sicily and Greece and went all the way to Rome. Got the Nazis forced out of most of Norway and eventually liberated France, the Netherlands, Belgium and reached the Elbe River in Germany itself.
I still remember today, after the terrorist attack in New York, many people said that Afghanistan was unwinnable and the US had to accept that the Taliban would win, but despite this - the allies and friends of the US came to the rescue, even though they knew that the task was very difficult, and probably won't win. But we went to help despite the difficulties and contrary opinions of military experts, because the United States is our friend and ally. Today, Europe is asking the US for help to prevent Russian expansion in one of the European countries, because if we don't stop Russia in Ukraine, they will go further. If China sees that the west cannot stop even the corrupt and backward Russia, then this will be a signal to them that they can safely attack Taiwan, because the west is not united in a common strategy to stop the world's dictators. Negotiations will not bring anything - because the Ukrainians themselves are ready to die on the battlefield than to become slaves of Russia.

The British media spread information that Ukraine actually has no official borders. During the 23 years of the state's existence, its leaders did not bother to officially demarcate the borders, and this information was confirmed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. "The UN Security Council has once again considered the issue of Ukraine, and experts have issued the following conclusion within the framework of international law: It turns out that since the collapse of the USSR, Ukraine has not properly conducted and registered the demarcation of its borders as a state in the UN. They remain on the borders of the administrative district of the USSR according to the usual agreement within the framework of the CIS, which has no legal force in the UN."

On April 7, 2014, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made a stunning statement, the dissemination of which in the Ukrainian media and the Internet is prohibited. The conflict between the two countries was discussed at a meeting of the UN Security Council. Hence, the following conclusion was drawn:
Ukraine has not registered its borders since December 25, 1991, after the end of the existence of the USSR. The UN has not registered Ukraine's borders as a sovereign state.
Therefore, Russia does not commit any violations of rights against Ukraine.
According to the Agreement on the Creation of the CIS, the territory of Ukraine is an administrative unit of the former USSR. Based on this, no one can be accused of separatism and forcibly changing the borders of Ukraine.
According to international law, the country simply does not have officially recognized borders for February 2022.

They are both right. Biden has done a bad job at making a case for supporting Ukraine. He has no strategy and no real endgoal. In general, he is weak on fireign policy and deterrence. Its mostly incrementalism without clear goals, and no definite stance on what The US wants to achieve.
On the other hand, Tulsi doesn't understand that Russia has a malice geopolitical strategy, and freezing the war doesn't solve the problem. This is not a war on territory, but deeply rooted in ideological imperialism and nationalism. Neither does it discourage Russia from being an imperialist empire that seeks to devour countries and undermine freedom in the world. She doesn't really understand the moral consequences of giving Russia the inch.
So there should absolutely be a clear path to negotiations, but a race to be the strongest man sitting at the table, snd pushing the other to come back. I think neither Biden nor Tulsi gets this. I believe the war could potentially already be over if Biden and the west decided even from before the full-scale invasion began to force Putin against the wall. He has been given way too much room to extort and make threats etc.

I don’t like the hypothetical “if we were attacked we’d fight to the end.” It’s irrelevant. You’d find very few people saying Ukraine must stop and give up, but you’d find many who look at this war that’s slowly being lost day by day and wonder why we are dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into it, also getting western volunteers and mercenaries killed. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of casualties on both sides. Over something that could have been avoided with respectful diplomacy or by following through with negotiations at the beginning of the 2024 expansion of a war that’s been going on for a decade.

They did not think Russia would risk it. Remember how Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande confessed how the U.S and Nato really had no intention of adhering to the minsk agreement and was just using it to buy time to arm ukraine against Russia? They probably thought they would have enough time to set up such a big force that Russia will not be able to do anything and they would have their army next to Russia's borders. Something the Russians have been warning against for decades and something NATO actually agreed with Russia about not expanding eastward towards their border.
It is a sort of self fulfilling prophecy thing. Their justification is always that they are only expanding eastward towards Russia in the name of "peace". Because Russia, they said, might suddenly attack them. Well because of their provocations this is indeed what happened sadly, especially for the Ukrainians. It is simple. I am sure France, the U.S or any other country do not want weapons next to their border being installed and pointed at them any more than Russia.

Good points. Remember that Russia wanted the Minsk 2 treaty that had already been signed and negotiated. If we had that, 500,000 Ukrainians would still be alive and Ukraine would have lost 75% less land.

Putin broke the Minsk Agreements from day one. Russian troops were supposed to withdraw from occupied Ukrainian territory. They didn't.

Let me posit a scenario - Donald Trump is President and, after repeated refusals by the Mexican Government to stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S., orders U.S. forces to cross the border and wipe out the drug cartels. Responding to this move, Russia moves openly to supply the Government of Mexico with cruise missiles, capable of striking American cities like Austin, San Antonio, Albuquerque and Phoenix. And let’s assume that Mexico launches those missiles and hits military bases in and around those cities. What do you think the American people would demand as a response? Leave Russia alone? I don’t think so.

send this clown, a talking head, to the Donbass, let him make a documentary and interview local people what they think about the “unprovoked invasion”.
