Globally, UFC is already bigger than NFL & MLB. Many people from all over other continents outside America stay at night or wake up very early or stucked in front of their TV Sunday to watch UFC. They don't even watch/follow American football or baseball.

In terms of Revenue, MLB and NFL are miles ahead of ufc . But MLB and NFL are purely American sports leagues. UFC is more global in terms of the recognition from fans, but STILL doesn’t have the number of fans the NFL or MLB do. And that speaks volumes to just how popular NFL and MLB are because they are American sports leagues.

@@dingusbro925 Testing for ONE is more strict on testing regulations than UFC. Their weight cutting includes hydration and their fighters are tested through WADA. You're probably just used to seeing fighters sucked dry from cutting weight, that doesn't happen there.

I watch many UFC events, but I started enjoying ONE Championship a bit more over the past couple of years.

Not sure about Bellator, but if One manages to appeal to casuals, then I can see it giving UFC some problems. One is pretty big is Asia, and I like how they have many things going on (BJJ, MMA, mixed rule set) and it's appealing to many fans of the sport. They just don't have big names yet and they can also do better when it comes to promoting fights and fighters.
Another factor is the time difference. Most of ONE'S Events are free on TH-cam. However for someone like me in California those events usually happen at 5am. But i get it they're deciding to stream it for the audience in Asia.
How do they appeal to Casuals?

ONE has better striking battles due to Kickboxing, Muy thai, etc. UFC will forever reign supreme in the MMA aspect though.
UFC is already bigger than the NFL & MLB. I don’t wake up at 2am on a Sunday morning to sit in front of the TV to watch the NFL/MLB little guys play hours before the main match, I do that for the UFC, every fight weekend, all the way in South Africa. There is levels to this shit.

Plus Kick Boxing is still very popular as well. As for UFC fans being popular due to Conservatives. Dana already bought a Scott Coker promotion, Strikeforce. Also Dana realizes he needs the competition so he can pay fighters as independent contractors instead of employees. Scott personality is perfect to attract the fighters he wants. Those that Dana no longer wants but have name recognition already. UFC is shrinking their roster so those fighters need places to go.
I watch UFC every sunday around 11am here in the Philippines with hangover, and then drink some beer while watching the fight knowing I have to go work on monday. That is UFC 😅

Personality is part of it, but Dana also understands the sport at a granular level. He knows it better than anyone on the planet. Dana is personality plus competence. Having just a brash personality isn't enough.

Scott Coker does his thing in his own way and no good hating on him at all. Each person brings something to the table Scott has his own way of doing things and Bellator haven't done so bad, they still pay their fighters don't they? Give props were they are due, Scott and Bellator are not be as big as Dana and the UFC but they have provided jobs and opportunity for fighters like Chandler to move onto bigger and better things like the UFC. Scott has a heart of gold no taking that away from him and he will always be remembered as the man that brought us Strikeforce, a top class MMA promo that brought in 4 UFC champions and several top contenders. Chandler of all people and you Patrick should not belittle the many achievements of Scott Coker.

Bellator's Goitchi Yamauichi can be top 7 in the ufc. Bellator's Jason Jackson can be top 7 in the ufc. Bellator Neiman Gracie can be top 10 in the ufc. I think a big part of the appeal outside of just awesome fights is personality of fighters. Nfl guys fined for everything, mlb players have shit marketing and can’t even market themselves. Ufc guys are cursing, drinking beer out of shoes, etc. These guys are just guys being themselves. It’s very refreshing to see people be themselves.

The biggest difference is promotion! Ufc spend millions on promoting fights and getting sponsors and there name out there.. yet there’s millions of boxing and ufc fans who have never even heard of bellator only that ufc has brought fighters over from there
Ask the same question to a fighter that left the UFC for Bellator, like Corey Anderson or Ryan Bader or Gegard Mousasi.
They aged out, as UFC still has the most competitive fighters out of all the divisions. Literally every other promotion is a feeder into the UFC, and being uncompetitive in the UFC will get you kicked back into the feeder leagues.

Scott Coker is legit. Kind of disrespect of what Mike said. Scott created probably the best mma organisation beside the ufc in the us. Strike force was so good that the ufc had to buy them because of their roster was so good.

Bellator is here to stay. It would be depressing if the ufc was the only organization. More mma organizations means more opportunities for fighters to feed their team and families, more chances of growing the sport, and more mma action especially when ufc puts out a boring fight night Aspen ladd Mckenzie dern led card.
