Such a cute space. I love how everything coordinates but isn't super matchy-matchy. I would like to go to school there! 😄 I remember when you homeschooled in your old house.

I’m homeschooling mainly in my bedroom. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have my desk , my daughter’s table, homeschool cart, a teacher basket and a white board.

I'm so glad to see this video. I currently have my homeschool space in my dinning room area, no ideal but it works. But my family was just approved for a habitat for humanity house, which is such a blessing. But I have been having a bit of anxiety thinking of the small amount of space that will be in the house, that won't allow a homeschool room, to the point I've even thought of not going forward with the house. But you are right, you can homeschool anywhere and a plus is we will have a yard to enjoy and we can homeschool out there as well!

I would encourage you to go for the new house. I've been homeschooling for 13 years and we prefer schooling from the living room and dining room. We had the opportunity to have a homeschool room when we moved 6 years ago and we never used it! I teach lessons in the living room and dining room. The 4th-12th graders often take their independent work to their rooms. It has worked very well for our large family.

Hi Ashlee! My oldest is in 3rd, so you are several years ahead of me! I love seeing how your homeschool room and curriculum changes as your kids get older! It helps me to see a glimpse of the path ahead! Thanks for sharing!!

I think the first video of yours years ago was the one where you showed us your homeschooling space in your dining room and how you don't need a dedicated room to homeschool. Thank you for all you share!

I love it and it looks like a great space to be. The accent wall is gorgeous and you used such good decor to compliment it. I'm sure this will be a great place for all of you to study and spent together. Love it.

Thank you for the inspiration..we don't have a dedicated room. We use our dining room table and my kids have a desk each in their rooms as my son is now in high school and sometimes needs to work alone. I love the bookshelf and cart 💞

Ooh love it! Right now we’re still in an apartment (after selling our house that had a ton of built ins in the dining room- would’ve been perfect 😩) and we are limited on space, but getting some bins with lids, wiping down walls and we are recovering our kitchen chairs and painting them to refresh them will breathe so much life into a space I’m needing to be content in for the season🤍

Beautiful school room! I really wish I had a spare room for homeschooling. For now we work on the dining table and coffee table in my small living room. I keep all my homeschool supplies AND books in my “linen” closet.

I can totally see what you are saying in regards needing separate space as they get older! We are experiencing that transition in our homeschoool, currently!

Very nice. My 12 cube storage unit is getting delivered today. Our homeschool room is in the living room. My husband built a ceiling to floor bookcase for me on one wall but with 12 kiddos (13 but one graduated already) I needed more room. I just gave away a bunch of chapter books to other family to declutter. Sold old curriculum and switched to TGATB for Language Arts, Math (for elementary), and History. We don't use desks but I got the kids lap desks so they can sit on the couch. We use to use our dining room table but being pregnant the end of last school year we moved to the couch where I was more comfortable. Once she was born we decided we liked the couch better than the hard chairs and table 😆

I ordered Built Bars today…for my husband and myself. They were out of Rocky Road, but we are trying the peanut butter brownie! 😋
Anyone can homeschool, and anyone can homeschool anywhere! We have a designated homeschool room, but we still use our entire house every single day! That’s what brings the HOME into our homeschool.☺️ Enjoy your new space. It looks great!!

Love your homeschool room! We are in a small home so it’s all done at our dining room table so I don’t really get to decorate a room, but I enjoy seeing what everyone else does and getting organizational ideas for how to store things in our small cabinet. Thanks for all you do, Ashlee! 💜

I loved this video so much!! We are so alike! I don’t often find inspiration from these kinds of video because I typically end up feeling overwhelmed and/or behind in my own world. 🤪 But my personality type is a lot like you and so I loved the organization and explanation of why you moved things or have things where you do. I am in need of a new printer and I was so overwhelmed by the choices out there so I’m definitely getting the one you recommended here.
Thanks girl for sharing! Prayers for a blessed school year for your family. 💚

Oh I felt that in my soul when you said you are almost ready to not use crayons anymore. God knows how annoyed I get when the kids purposely break them, peek the wrappers off and leave them under the furniture. But omg I the reality will hit hard when my kids start hating crayons as they get older.

What curriculum did you decide on for High School Math? I'm looking for something that is a bit more of a challenge as well. We are starting with TT, but I am curious. Also, what is a great series of books for older girls? I struggle with the appropriateness with the more challenging books. Cute space!!!

I would love to know more about your clear out each year. We have been homeschooling for a few years now are starting to out grow some books etc. I recycle all the extra papers and such each year but haven’t really gotten rid of books we are ready to move on from. Do you just donate to a thrift store or somewhere else?

Love it! It is so functional and beautiful! I also love and appreciate that it isn’t matchy matchy and that it is realistic! Sometimes I see homeschool rooms looking all picture perfect (or as you say, Pinterest worthy) and think to myself “Do you have kids actually school in there? Like it looks great how you have all your crayons lined up in the container on the shelf as a rainbow but half way through our day I promise you it will not look like that!” Lol.
Question….. what is you favor oil to diffuse during the day (not necessarily brand but type)?

  • @denisejohnson4037

I have a question about tgatb constitution subject. Is this true "no one saw slavery as morally wrong because it was so common, and the founding fathers really had no choice BUT to institute slavery. the abolishment of slavery was a radical new idea! lead by the church!" Is this what tgatb is teaching? Do you truly believe this and will be teaching your children this?

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

What I teach and how I teach it to MY children is not anyone else’s business. Our conversations in our home are mine and mine alone. Before the days of social media, would you be asking another homeschooling mom what they teach their kids? No. But since you asked, I share age appropriate truth with my children surrounding slavery as a whole. All the way back to biblical slavery - through present modern day slavery (s*x trafficking). That’s the beauty of homeschooling.
