- Best Penang Street Food - Awesome Penang Food Trail - Kimberley Street & Chulia Street | Malaysia
Penang is a food haven popular with Singaporeans. Join me on this awesome street food trail at Kimberley and Chulia Streets in Georgetown. For older folks, this will be a walk down memory lane when Singapore had hawkers on the streets in the 1960s and 1970s.
Penang Lok Lok is a unique dining experience. Customers stand around the stall, dip the various skewered food into boiling water, and eat while standing on the street.

Delicious street food so fascinating to see this vibrant market, have a great Sunday😊😊🙏🙏
Many of the food here are available in Singapore, but the tastes are different. And these are at one third the price of what we get in Singapore, due to exchange rate difference. It was a good trip and I'm glad that you like this video.
@@SingaporeCityWalks 🙏🙏❤️❤️😊😊
Georgetown Penang.......reminds me of my childhood in S'pore.....I love the authenticity of it all. From the street hawkers to the old shophouses, and the heritage district . Malaysia is a Soulful country, every state has its beauty. Not forgetting the beautiful people and cultures.
Georgetown is indeed a beautiful sleepy town. I love the laid back ambience, the food and the heritage places. Thanks for you comment.
Lor Mee looks fantastic!
There's too many nice food to try. Wish I had more days there.
Great street food market tour 👌 ❤
Some of the food are really good. Thank you my friend 😀
You have made me hungry again! Yes, I remember the Singapore street hawkers when I first visited in 1972. How fast the years have gone by!
In those days, we had some very famous hawkers places. You might have visited some of these - Stamford Road, behind Capitol Cinema, Singapore River, Princess Elizabeth Walk etc. There were also lots of individual street hawkers everywhere. I became hungry too when I was editing this video.
Thank you, Singapore City Walks, for sharing your street food adventure in Penang! Your video highlights the incredible food scene that Penang is renowned for, and it's fantastic to see you exploring the vibrant streets of Kimberley and Chulia Streets in Georgetown.

Some of these food are available in Singapore, but the taste is very different. Due to exchange rate difference, these flavourful food are at one third the price of Singapore's. Yes, these vendors probably make the best food, at very cheap prices too.

Thank you for the explanation. Thanks for watching.
Wow!
Singaporeans love to go there on short holidays. Food is great, cost of living is low. You might want to consider going there. I speak Chinese so I have advantage over you. hehe.
@@SingaporeCityWalks Yes, I may want to consider in the future going to inner Malaysia. although went for a day tour of JB 5 yrs ago. Thanks for sharing your insights mate 🙂
@@rommelflores2618 In JB, the food in the malls are good. Not those on the street. Singaporeans go there for cheap food, top up petrol and marketing. However, the causeway traffic jams are notorious and is a deterrent.
@@SingaporeCityWalks yes the causeway traffic is a bit chaotic. We went to the mall near the immigration centre all good food. Still a nice experience for one day visit in MAL. I would like to go to Batam on next visit.
@@rommelflores2618 Some Singaporean men have Concubines in Batam. Maybe you can find and keep 1 there 😅
❤❤❤

Thank you Kabul Walker 😀
15:03 Wan Than Mee is legendary, you should try, Singapore City Walks. But be forewarned, you also need legendary patience while ordering
I tried Wan Tan Mee at 2 different places. Theirs used more dark sauce. I prefer Singapore's version after tasting Penang's. Yes, we need patience. Despite having many customers, the person serving will locate you and deliver the correct meal without fail.
Greetings.. We just came back haha could it be that u just walked past …. 😊
We might have walked past. Did you visit other areas for food? Please recommend for my next trip. haha.
7:45 whatdo u call that dish?
This is called 'Popiah', a kind of big spring roll. You can google it to find out more. This Penang version has thick popiah skin. Singapore's version has thinner popiah skin.
@@SingaporeCityWalks thanku
I am a Penangite this is the worst CKT I ever tried here
Thanks for your feedback.
Sorry to correct, I'm 50 local Penangite, I never see any popiah skin is square shape.
Mr Tan, this certainly looks and tastes like popiah. What do you call it if it's not popiah? Please correct me. Thank you sir.
Why they wearing this masks against the wooddust.....
Are they Carpenters.....???
Since the days of the pandemic, food handlers in countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand have been encouraged to wear face masks for food hygiene purposes.
