Hey there, I've recently bought this hub and I can only crankflip it when the cone nut is so loose that you can feel a play when the wheel is installed. Is this normal? I mean if it is tight the driver won't move since theres no bearing taking away the friction.. that is pretty logic. But the only reason I bought a new coaster was the big play on my old one... if had the same thing going on with the new one in order to do kickflps that would be pretty disappointing.
email us if you are having issues at info@merrittbmx.com The hub will have a slight bit of play but you will not be able to feel it while riding. if you can feel it while riding you have the hub way too loose.
I just bought the Merritt Battle rim [from Dans Comp] for my 8yr old son, and needless to say I thought I was gettin a lifetime wheel because he's a gentle rider, long story short, right out of the box theres a problem , the driver is not engaging with the clutch ( I had to learn all this by watching a million & 1 videos on this subject) Anyhow, so somebody from Merritt tells me to disassemble it and take pics, (no repsonse). So after about ten times of taking it apart and reassembling it, I finally figure out that the clutch won't stay on the bearings, and since I didnt but directly from Merritt, neither they or Dans comp can offer me ANY alternative. My son & I are just flat out stuck with a broken wheel, thats $297 I'll never see again. I WILL say... on the plus side, they make a very nice sturdy rim, but this free coaster hub completely sucks. Don't waste your money, I heard Profile never fails you.
I've been using Final Drive for more than 2 years.. And i don't have any problems with it only i can't do kick flips and the slacks haha . I would recommend to anyone who's trying to buy a new coaster.
Is the final drive fully sealed? Bc I have a kink east Coaster dtc and sometimes I hit on the ground when i 180 and then the hub will shake and it’s really annoying
Where can i buy a replacement driver? My hardware broke and smashed into the bushing and tore it all up and now it runs like trash i was looking online trying to find a replacement driver but so far no luck. I need some help
Something about my final drive has broke I’m not sure what? I have to run non drive side hub guard really loose to crank flip (I have the washer on the axel) and when I do this my wheel sounds horrible and I can feel it really loose
Alex Maksymenko what do you mean wear in ? Mine still had the same problem every time I stop pedaling it would make a crank noise I just took it apart and put it back together but it makes the sound still and I 're greased like stupid amount they say too much don't hurt so I went wild with it
Hey merrit. I took the hub apart and literally have sat there for 3 hrs trying to get the freecoaster to engage while watching the video. and doesnt. I used all proper tools
Iv been in the bmx industry for a long time and have blown up my fair share of free coasters or seen mates blown hubs. I can tell you that this design is from older khe free coasters. Should be good for a while but will suffer from driver slip with wear from those ball bearing that puts pressure on the clutch.
I cracked my drive side cone nuts and i see merritt only sells the non drive side hardware so im not sure where to buy some cone nuts that are compatible ive tried so many other coasters hardware but my cranks will never spin like it use to
I bought a new axle for mine I just installed it and before I can even ride it would not engage I opened it and see that the 2 pins on the axle were grinded down I can't afford a new axle because I just spend 51 dollars on the one I just bought because I'm in Canada :(
@@Elchinohairmy friend bought it and he didn’t like it because it kept moving on his frame when tightening the axle bolt. Merritt also has there own universal nylon hub guard to put on and it covers your wheel more!
+MERRITTBMX yes. On the non drive side is seal which you lock and you cant see bearing and then there is drive side where you just put driver on the bearing which i see even it is locked
Im happy yall posted this because im buying this hub
smart to use a bushing!

Merritt has a bad reputation from ex-team riders I heard.

bruh i need help ASAP. can i switch the drive side on a freecoaster?
It should come with the cone wrench just saying
Honestly…. It should
Is the final drive fully sealed? Bc I have a kink east Coaster dtc and sometimes I hit on the ground when i 180 and then the hub will shake and it’s really annoying
yes sealed bearings and a bushing driver.
Daniel Deleon both hubs are sealed, its highly unlikely your gonna find a coaster that isnt
Where can i buy a replacement driver? My hardware broke and smashed into the bushing and tore it all up and now it runs like trash i was looking online trying to find a replacement driver but so far no luck. I need some help
There's a warranty. He said it was a lifetime one so I think just replace it
Something about my final drive has broke I’m not sure what? I have to run non drive side hub guard really loose to crank flip (I have the washer on the axel) and when I do this my wheel sounds horrible and I can feel it really loose
I just built this up and it "clunks" every time I stop pedalling and it won't crankflip. any suggestions?
it needs some time to wear in and throw an excessive amount grease in there
Alex Maksymenko oh thank god mine was doing the same thing
Alex Maksymenko what do you mean wear in ? Mine still had the same problem every time I stop pedaling it would make a crank noise I just took it apart and put it back together but it makes the sound still and I 're greased like stupid amount they say too much don't hurt so I went wild with it
Same here
Same problem with mine
Hey Merritt why when I do this and put it back together does my hub no longer engage
sounds like yo maybe didn't tighten the non driveside hardware all the way first or forgot a step. Watch he video again and do everything the same way
Hey merrit. I took the hub apart and literally have sat there for 3 hrs trying to get the freecoaster to engage while watching the video. and doesnt. I used all proper tools
have you checked the spring in the axle? give us a call if you are still having trouble.
Hey Merritt I love what you guys and doing! I was wondering if you guys have any stickers?
mail us a sase
Does that apply to anyone Merritt?

Is there a steel insert in frecoasters so its not wearing out the shell
yes the clutch grabs against a steel piece inside the hub.
is there a way to change drive sides with this hub ?
no, you can purchace is RHD or LHD.
How much slack does it come with ?

Which drive side hub guard goes good with this hub
g sport universal gard

can i ask? why do I see on drive side that bearing? I mean it's like outside the hub so I can see one side of it, doesnt it get dirty inside?
Are you talking about the large bearing between the driver and hubshell? If so, it has a seal on it to keep out dirt.
+MERRITTBMX yes. On the non drive side is seal which you lock and you cant see bearing and then there is drive side where you just put driver on the bearing which i see even it is locked
why does this hub have 2 cone nuts on the drive side?
This keeps your hardware locked in place.
