Vegeta is 3-2 against Goku. Goku only has wins under his belt because he's had his friends as support. If it's only a 1v1, Vegeta consistently defeats Goku. They're both great in their own ways even though Goku if you really think about it is straight up autistic 😂 Always fixated on training, doesn't like physical affection from Chi Chi, and constantly has to be reminded not to say anything stupid and offend Grand Zeno or any deity he's introduced too lol
One thing that you have to admire about Vegeta though... Is his persistence and dedication. No matter how many times Goku leaves him in the dust, no matter how many battles he loses... He still continues to train and fight as hard as he can, and never taken shortcuts, always through efforts and merit of his own, like the way he achieved ssj blue. And for that he'll always have my respect and admiration.
Vegeta lost to regular Frieza but dog walked Golden Frieza before the blow up of the earth. He also dog walked imperfect Cell and destroyed Android 19. So yeah, put respect on Vegeta's name and give him more W's 😤

I really lowkey hate how we have this stigma of if you didn’t defeat the main villain you didn’t do shit The whole Frieza saga vegeta was clearing up shop and if it wasn’t for that then it everyone on that planet would’ve been dead. Because Frieza would’ve had his full squad with him. So although vegeta doesn’t beat the main villain he is always a big reason why they win barring cell but even then he distracted him enough for gohan to counterattack

The thing with Vegeta is that he doesn't give up when he loses. He trains harder than before every time, remaining prideful as ever.
And even tho he doesn't have many MAIN enemy Ws, hes still got his fair share of wins.
Cui and Dodoria were whatever, and even though he lost to transformed Zarbon, he got the runback to kill him. He took care of 3/5th of the Ginyu Force, he gave Semi-Perfect Cell trouble when he unlocked Super Vegeta, dealt with Nappa twice, even almost finally got a W over Golden Frieza if Goku didn't have fucking MC plot armor.

Frieza was beaten by Trunks. Without him Frieza would have destroyed Earth. Or may be Androids would beat Frieza and still Goku wouldn't do anything.
Cell was defeated by Gohan.
Kid Buu, Goku would have lost easily without support from Vegeta and Good Buu. Also SSJ 3 is not much better than Ssj2 Vegeta due to stamina drain. Goku was still better but slightly.
Goku didn't beat Frieza alone once again coz Vegeta stabbed him, whis restored Earth and Goku took the opportunity.
Tournament of U7 vs U6, yeah Goku saved the day but it was still a Draw than a win.

I think that's the beauty of the character, he was once arrogant, way more than a simple pride as a saiyan.
But he grew more and more with the time; he became a father, a mentor, a friend.
If before meeting Beerus he was often too arrogant in his strength and got proven wrong by different types of ennemy, Vegeta after TOP is a absolute beast.
From all his mistakes he get something from it and he continued to evolve.
in the manga, vegeta is the one who deals with Goku Black, Goku never even fight him. Vegeta fights Goku Black and Goku fights Zamasu.
Vegeta always gets some sort of get back and that to me makes his losses worth it
Vegeta is the Worf of Dragonball. He is the badass tough guy that gets his ass beat by the new villain to show the audience just how strong the new villain is. That happened so often in Star Trek to Worf that the situation is known as "The Worf Effect"
That's his role in the toriyama style. Piccolo and Tien should really be thankful he made Vegeta.

While Vegeta may not have many wins against main antagonists, the dude is pretty much the mass murderer of henchmen, to the point he even killed his own henchman including the Saibaman who lost to Tien, basically told the Saibaman who fought Yamcha to Kamikaze itself, and Nappa just cause Goku crippled him! He slaughtered Cui, Dodoria, Appule, & Zarbon, killed pretty much the entire Ginyu Force (though he only kills Ginyu in the anime version of the Golden Frieza Saga), killed Android 19, Pui Pui, & Nappa again when he escaped from HELL in GT! Dude definitely has a body count when it comes to henchmen!

He only had the upper hand against Black for a minute. After ranting about pride and saiyans as he does, Black was like "Cap, you guys just get stronger when you're mad right?" Then he just stopped repressing his rage for a second, sliced open the universe, and multiplied to give Vegeta a one man jumping.

In Top, Moro and Granolah saga, he did Lose to the Main antagonists tho, only in Broly movie he didn't actually lose (He left with Goku).

Vegeta came a long way and never gave up so it’s more of respect thing than an “L” thing.
In all fairness, when Vegeta was the antagonist, he almost killed Goku and technically won the duel, barring the outside help on Goku's end. Then, when he was Majin Vegeta, their fight ended in a draw, and he knocked Goku out when his guard was down. He also won the duel between him and Goku in DBS Super Hero. That's three for three.
I would give Vegeta the win against golden Frieza. Frieza was desperate and whis turn back time so the Earth never got destroyed

Bakugo, Zoro, Sasuke, Escanor, Yuno, are all secondary who have defeated a main villain of the arc, Vegeta is more iconic and more loved than those mentioned and the writers only know how to humiliate him, I think the work today is in the woods for not changing the themes and being predictable, in Z's time any Z warrior regardless of power level was able to defeat a villain from the arc

I think toriyama did a really good job with him, besides the Freiza comeback in super. That was just kind of ridiculous, he should’ve had that. As for his other losses
