- In this video, I take you through my 15-year journey with Linux-from my frustrations with Apple and my first Gentoo installation, to diving deep into Arch Linux and beyond. Whether it's customizing desktops, mastering terminal commands, or navigating the ups and downs of different distros, Linux has been a wild ride. Join me as I reflect on what I've learned, how the ecosystem has evolved, and what the future holds. If you're a fan of Linux, tech nostalgia, or just curious about the open-source world, this one’s for you.

Just because you can tweak Linux doesnt mean you must do it. My 10 year old girl uses Linux since 2 years too and she doesnt even bother with the terminal.
My son used Linux ever since he was about 10. He's 23 now and I don't think he's ever touched a terminal either.
@@linux-dev-labs how did someone used linux without opening the terminal once ???? what distro is that??? even on windows i use the terminal with command like sfc /scannow or winget install
Started 2010. Linux put me on an amazing journey. From a tech noob to pretty competent on my computer.
That switch to Unity 8 and then Gnome got me off the main Ubuntu distro. Went to Ubuntu Mate for a while, but too many little annoying bugs, so I tried Mint Mate, but their Cinnamon DE is just more polished and more stable. I still there, this machine is a used Dell Optiplex that I got off of eBay for like $150, it came with Windows, but I dropped in a fresh NVME drive and installed Mint 22. No driver issues, other than the WiFi card choked once, and I had to shutdown. Otherwise, 3 weeks and no issues.
I'm at the stage where I just want a distro that I don't have to fiddle with out of box. Perhaps I'm getting lazy or old. Tried Zorin and was blown away that out of the box I didn't need to touch up the appearance or go near the terminal. ❤❤❤
I get thus experience with Ubuntu just install and move on. I don't even need to fiddle with my bios settings to get it to run like I do with other distros
I am 61 and been on linux 4 years and I got Quickemu on my laptop courtesy of Chris Titus and now have 6 disto's on it including Archlinux I am not so wonderful at typing either, but it really looks interesting I like how the tiling manager works help my watching tech tips and using the terminal instead of moving boxes manually I hope it will be fun lol. Just thought I would comment here not sure why lol have a great week-end
In my book most distros today are kind-of like this, as long as you dont chose to change out components because then youre in for some oldschool trickery. I've always been a debian guy so haven't tested any other distros for desktop use. But they all are very polished and work out of the box. But the Wayland transition can cause problem still. Depending on DE and GPU drivers. Cannot really blame the distros for this though.
What the hell did I just watched...
It's too bad Arch breaks so often... The AUR is amazing I wish something like it was available on other distros.
I like the AUR as well and I am note sure what happened if I'm honest.
I started Ubuntu in 2008 because I wanted to try the other os' my it teacher would mention but wouldn't show us In class lol.
Been using Linux for 15 years and Linux is better than ever
If you watched my video, you wouldn't have said that.
Don't do me like this bro, that is a side addressing mic 😩
Yes, so I read, but it doesn't pick up when I speak softly when I do it. I tried everything you could imagine because I had read the same thing. But when I angle it to my mouth, it does pick things up in my voice a lot better. :)
Honestly i'am surprised because your first distro was Gentoo honestly not all persons can do that in the first contact of Linux that's awesome! Nice video
Now what do you choose instead of Linux
windows ? or even worse MacOS ????
What video editor did you land on?
Kdenlive
Ooooo just that thumbnail alone made a bunch of people angry
Happy 15th Libre Day!
Cool story bro. Using it since two years, not going back to windows.
ok, all the hand waving? yeeaahh.. ya lost me.
So get a Mac, got it
Too much waving hands around.
Definitely, a "dont recomned channel"
Whatever. LOL You do understand that people communicate with their hands.
Umm, no, Linux is fantastic!
Maybe you should watch Brian Lunduke because then you would get the thumbnail
