After making the updated vocal range video of Sarah Geronimo, I've realized how much the quality of her natural chest voice sounds like Vina Morales'. Sarah's natural tone is like a mixture of Vina's, Beyonce's, and Sharon Cuneta's. Yesterday, I decided to make this compilation of Vina's middle/mezzo range. I honestly wasn't a fan of her voice before. But after I heard the similarities with Sarah, I started appreciating her voice more (particularly, her middle range). I'm still not a big fan of her overall style, but I really like the rich and thick quality of her midbelts. It's distinctly Vina. It's like a mixture of Sarah's and Sharon's too. They all have this compactly robust middle range with an upward Mezzo punch, and all of them also have the tendency to be twangy above Bb4/B4 unless they exert an extra effort in lifting/supporting the note. That's a very Mezzo quality, and I believe that Vina's voice is a lyric Mezzo too. Her voice already containted that dark and deep quality even during her younger years. Her passaggio is also low to be a Soprano voice. This is definitely not a full lyric Soprano voice like Lani's nor a Spinto Soprano voice like Klarisse'. This is most likely a high lyric Mezzo voice like Sarah's and prime Sharon's.
ang ganda rin ng midbelts niya sa pangako sayo. ive watched her performance of that song live on tv and sobrang naappreciate ko quality mg mid range niya like sarah’s.
I think it's because the general Filipino audiences are only open to light Soprano voices like how Regine sounded during her prime. They are not that open to naturally thick and mature sounding voices like Vina's. Even Sarah and Sharon had to fake their voices in their studio records just to be marketable to the general Filipino audience. Filipinos have this certain standard that female singers should always sound youthful, feminine, and light. And Vina's voice is the exact opposite of that.
@@johnharrison3281 not entirely true as Filipinos embraced singers like Dulce and Bituin Escalante. Filipinos sadly equate greatness with vocal acrobatics no matter how thin and ordinary the singer’s voice is. Vina’s voice is underrated and how she was marketed has a lot to do with it. Her management focused on her being a “showgirl” and a total performer so singing and dancing became her forte even though she’s a great vocalist. I mean, I’m not a fan of Sarah but she’s in the predicament and the only difference is that she has a very strong fan base. You wouldn’t understand how powerful and rich Vina’s voice is until you actually see her live in concert; she is truly the female equivalent to Gary V. And fyi, Vina was offered a contract by Sony USA during her Revealed concert tour in the US. She just didn’t accept the offer because there were certain things being required of her that she wasn’t ready to do. Her audiences in New York with more than half being Whites were so amazed by her-had she tried her luck here in the US, she could have absolutely made it.
@@nathanblue Filipinos embraced Dulce before Regine's reign in the industry. After Regine became famous, majority of the singers are now expected to do acrobatics and over the top high pitched belts just to be extremely famous. Even Sarah who has a naturally deep voice was forced to belt out really high and to fake a nasal thin voice just for her to reach the superstar status. Even Sharon was forced to sound light and feminine during her superstar years because her voice was too thick and mature sounding for her to be branded as a superstar to the youth. They appreciated Charice's voice because the depth was completely manufactured and she had high notes similar to prime Regine's. Bright, light, open and feminine. Nowadays, you can no longer be extremely famous to the Filipino masses if you don't follow the vocal pattern of Regine and Mariah. You can only appeal to an elite audience if you are in the alternative/indie artist unless your songs are being used in movies/you got recognized internationally. But trust me, I've been singing in bars for years and the general Filipino people want to hear lung busting high notes ala-Regine most of the time.
@@nathanblueI would also like to add that Bituin never became as popular as Regine or Sarah. She had a name a one or two songs famous, but she never reached the popularity of Regine.
@@johnharrison3281 Sharon’s voice was never really that powerful; she simply benefitted from all the classics given to her which elevated her status. Charice, well, Filipinos will embrace anyone who has achieved any sort of international recognition. Charice’s voice is big and powerful but the quality isn’t quite there in my opinion. Absolutely not a fan of Regine but I don’t question how powerful her voice is during her prime. Her voice is so one dimentional whereas Vina can play with her voice and show versatility. I don’t agree with Regine’s lack of awareness that pushing her voice to the limit just to showcase vocal supremacy is unprofessional. How many times does she have to use her stomach issues every time she messes up?! On the technical side, I’d rather listen to Katrina Velarde. The problem with her is that she solely wants to be a Regine wannabe. Anyway, thanks for posting this video. I suggest that you watch Vina’s concert in Hawaii last year that was posted here on YT. She didn’t have a guest and performed for 2 hrs straight while singing ballads and doing her usual song and dance numbers. Her stamina is unbelievable!

napansin ko rin na nakakaboses siya ni sarah lalo sa "himala" pati dun sa "people" niya sa sarah g live tsaka pag kumakanta siya ng celine dion songs.
Extremely underrated…she deserves way more for being a total entertainer!!! Others can sing but Vina’s voice quality is what makes her standout.
