Free Tech Tip! (You only get one.) When live streaming and especially when you have a crew hosting an event, have someone watch the stream as a regular viewer to point out issues that only show up on that side. This can also help create troubleshooting steps on the fly for when some of the audience has client issues.

Yes, I livestreamed a wedding once during this pandemic and it really helps having someone to monitor the actual stream from viewers perspective other than the streamer's perspective. We get much better audio mix too because sometimes what we hear in our audio interface doesn't match what the viewer hears after post processing and encoding etc

@@mrinaljoshi294 So it was SO WEIRD watching this, because I had this exact issue with OBS the previous night - the Desktop Audio stream shows it's working (and correctly displaying the meter) but it doesn't go to the stream. There are no settings that explain why the issue is occurring.
Anyway, the way I ended up fixing it was adding in Steam Streaming Audio as an audio capture - the way they fixed it was by restarting the stream. Extra horrible for them was that it HAD been working and then stopped, so they probably had already confirmed everything was working loading up the stream on another machine and didn't see anything change to knock it out.
Best strategy by TechJesus: Yeet all the components out, do nuclear option on BIOS settings

it really is a good way to solve bios troubles, now the hard part is if you fuck up and forget to enable-disable system specific settings.
like on my system i had to enable above 4G Decoding, just like on those video you can be stuck on a problem for far to long even though the answer is staring right at you.
Im glad to see that im employing most of their technique too, though how non of them bothered with task manager is a sin!

@@bean6520 im not entirely sure, all i know is kris was making the rgb on the pc all green to match with the pepeD on the front panel and linus mentioned near the end that it wasnt politically correct, tho tbf i did hear that our (kris) community was spamming the saber variant of that emote and mods kept timing them out, so maybe that had something to do with it. still tho to take points away cause of viewer action is kinda non-sense.

Just record each stream separately so when the stream inevitably has audio problems, you can splice in source audio to the TH-cam edit. This series is very fun, it doesn't deserve to be marred by understandable tech issues!
Now _that's_ a tech tip! They definitely should consider this for the next iteration!
Linus gave Kris a hard time about memory at 01:43:27 but at 01:29:00 Kris clearly is asking how do you disable DIMM slots. Kris new the entire time that something was wrong with the memory. He just didn't know about the blank RGB modules. He was trying to "reenable" them!!!

They could use a dedicated stream director or whatever the official title would be. LTT streams nearly always have some issue that even people using OBS for the first time don't run into.

@@heni63 right.....so typically you would do several trial streams. I love LTT but they have a history of “good enough” type due diligence and testing where it’s not that surprising so many troubles happen.

I wish you guys had a comprehensive list of the issues on each pc for us to read in comments or description, it would make watching them work a lot more exciting seeing them discover or completely miss something we know.
Next tech support challenge should have extra points for whoever fixes the audio issues, heck give the points to whoever notices that there's no audio on the stream. A couple of tech tips, have someone watching the stream to notice if the issue is real or people is trolling you, and if it comes down to it have a phone ready and just call them. Any audio is better than no audio.

For a tech tips channel you guys do run into tech issues a lot.
Yeah this one is baffling to me. From a viewer standpoint, LTT's livestream production value is not really any better than other large streams out there, yet somehow they have more production problems than every other stream I watch combined

These are fantastic and probably one of my favorite competitions.
I feel like unplugging everything and replugging it from scratch would have been a faster and more accurate way to this challenge
And put all of the parts in their respected boxes: rebuild from scratch. Not really a tech support challenge.
This video now has got my attention. This is what I love to do, troubleshooting, I went to school for computer networking. Never finished. I actually troubleshoot computers on vehicles everyday. I’d love to give this a try.

Dimiytry really is a professional. He really has his manners down on how to moderate/commentate a show together. He can adapt quickly, has his facts down and always trys to make the most out of every situation and makes the participants and linus look good - alone by his choice of words and way of describing. He sometimes takes his time to find the right words - but I prefer that a lot over someone rambling instantly all over the place without any real direction. I liked Dimiytrys performance.
you could do speed building streams, where two guys both get the same components and they both are required to build a pc in a very specific configuration. that'd be interesting to watch

I highly disagree with the RGB scoring.
ToastyBros - they got RGB working, but they didn't change anything to it at all, I think it's worth 3 points. They didn't install the dummy ram sticks back, so I'd dock 1 point for that. 2 points in total.
Kristoferyee - working RGB worth 3 points, cohesive front panel, liquid cooler, top fans and ram modules for additional 4 points. I think the front panel pixel art pepe deserves another bonus point for creativity. One point docked for the unnecessary software. 7 points in total.
Way to offer your fans a choice.. notice that they are saying no.. and then IMMEDIATELY be like.. oh no no.. I didn't mean that. I take that back.. kinda sketchy guys lol

To be fair he’s a huge platform with a diehard fan base. Solid adspend in my opinion.
I know it might take longer, but I would have gone with an approach where I would have completely dismantled the PC and then re-build it from scratch. And thank you intel for the give away in those numbers. And LTT, I love you guys.

You should get a button you can press to alert the team when to introduce the contestants in and when to cut them off.
That way you can flow through the stream without having to verbally instruct them.
Similarly with who to drop in on stream with video and switch...

Audio always seems like such a difficult thing to get right. My primary esports game is StarCraft II and I've been watching tournaments from the beginning (2010) and with every new Tournament Organizer (TO) audio issues are always a problem. "NASL sound guy" is the meme we use whenever there are audio issues because that TO got it hilariously wrong during their events. Really puts it into perspective how "traditional media" have got this thing figured out a long time ago, but "new media" such as popular TH-camrs and Streamers are still struggling with audio problems when dealing with multiple sources like this.

I think for the next tech support challenge then need to tune in to the people troubleshooting and allow the watchers to listen to the thought processes of the troubleshooters. Kristopher looked like he was doing a lot of talking to the camera which would have been really neat to hear.
