Lovely to see your studio! You have a lot of space! Also you have such a good taste in furniture, interior, it looks together nicely! :) I agree, its always interesting to see artist studios. Also -thank you for finding me, Im happy to follow your journey too! :)
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for checking out my videos 🥰 I’m glad you enjoyed having a look around! And yes, I know - I feel very lucky and grateful to have this space (although it does look bigger on camera because of my phone’s wide lens haha), my previous studio space was so small it couldn’t even fit a bed so I’m still adjusting to the possibilities that come with a bigger room 😊 x
I was looking for inspo for my next videos on youtube and I found your channel, what a lovely voice and vlog Rita! keep going with the nice work, I will be here following your steps. Are you 100% British? Your name seems Portuguese. Kisses!
Hi Ana!! Thank you so much, so happy you enjoyed the vid and found it inspiring! 🥺💗 Ohh great question, I’m in fact 100% Portuguese!! Haha. I live in London atm as my partner is English 🥰 beijinhos! Também vou ver os teus vídeos hihi 💕
People do love a Studio Tour. Hope you do more, maybe of you working and the messy stuff too. Artists are messy, lets allow people to see us for real! Just a thing I noticed - that figure your Grandad made, it is probably not a thing to show off. Older generations may have been or not been aware of the racist connotations of creating a stereo-typical human figure that depicts a person of colour, and that little figure def has a black face. We all need to think of what we have, what we show, what our own thoughts are and of racism, especially in this day and age. I know that in UK/Europe many people are quite unaware of things like this but with the Black Lives Matter reaching all around the World can we be a little sensitive please. Cheers!
Hi there! Thank you for your comment! I 100% agree that black lives matter and want to apologise if I caused offence, really not my intention! I want to clarify, however, that my grandad has made dozens of these with different coloured "skin": blue, green, white etc, the one I have happens to be made of black wire. He has made people dancing, playing different instruments and a few dogs, horses etc. They're made with electrical wire, which only come in a few colours. My grandad comes from an extremely humble background, having grown up in a small village in fascist Portugal, and made these when he was younger with the few materials available to him and with 0 art education. I'm very proud of what he managed to create with the little he had, and this happens to be the only doll I have left, so I keep it in my studio because it makes me think of him. I didn't mean to "show it off", I simply pointed it out because it inspires me - perhaps I should've explained all of this in video, just didn't think to do so at the time :(
