You make a great pirate.....a very clean cut one! Chowder looks amazing. My mum and dad are coming for lunch this week and I was wondering what to make. I think you've solved that problem.
Evelyn Girasoli LOL ! I've never really done scruffy, but I guess it would be more in keeping with the Pirate theme here !!!! Such a great recipe to do with family coming over, as you can make it ahead of time and then reheat it when you ready :-) Sx
Another treasure! Can't wait to get the ingredients for your recipe . If I substitute fresh sweet corn, which is plentiful here this summer, do I need to adjust any ingredients? Also, if rum isn't a spirit of choice, what do you suggest? Maybe sherry or white wine? Thanks again to you & minnion!
Fluffitty 69 Hello !! You can swap out the Sweetcorn no problem and no need to adjust anything else as it's a secondary flavour - as for the rum, again you are safe to change this to anything really ! The flavour will change slightly, but I am sure you'll still love it :-) Hope all is well and big hugs xxxx
at the end after turning off the heat, squeeze one lime/lemon and mix it before bring it to table, it will give a freshness and acidity to it making it more favorable..
Hi Me Hearties, Sacha and Minion, a great dish, which I will so love making. This is definitely my type of cooking, hot, tasty, and ready within minutes. You can have this on its own, or with crusty bread, OR I know it may sound horrid to some, but I love a dish like this in one of those large shallow bowls with a good spoon of creamy mashed potato in the middle surrounded by the thick fish chowder (is that what you call it??). So good and filling. It's 4am I can't sleep (had a tooth out, it went wrong, then had to have roots removed at another dental Practise, and now on antibiotics because I have an infection, nothing's easy with me, so my hubby says). Now I'm so hungry watching your video, I can almost smell the dish , sorry for rambling, it's lack of sleep lol... Big love and hugz always 💐🌹💐🌹💐🌹xxxxxxxxx
Elaine Howard I am with you on the mash potato being added to these types of dishes :-) But failing that, definitely some nice crusty bread ! So sorry to hear your tooth is play up, I hate tooth pain, it's just the worst :-( Massive big hugs from us all here and I hope it improves soon - get some sleep as well !!!!!!! xxxxxxxxx
Oh Sacha, you are the cutest thing trying to act all pirate-y! I come from a line of Irish sea captains on my mom's side and I think one or two of them were sheep rustlers ;)) The chowder looks so good and the rum addition? Brilliant. Take Care . . . D
Donna C hee hee that was about take 5, I just wasn't pirate-y enough and kept laughing !!!! I am not sure what I came from as no family tress exists for me (all war orphans), but I am sure it wasn't pirates !!!!!! Big hugs xxxx
Zainab Jubory Thank you so much ! We use a Canon EOS 700D to film and for editing use iMovies on a Mac, if you want to know anything else just shout ! :-)
+Totally Sacha thanks alot for your comment .. Actually i wanna start making cooking videos but in arabic (collection of arabic & nonarabic food) with high quality vedios .. If you have advices for me in how to start i will be very thankfull 😊
Haha Sacha, so funny little intro! Love this chowder recipe. Amazing use of spices for flavour. Most chowder recipes I've seen and eaten are pretty bland. Btw Minion has pretty impressive knives skills ;-)
SushiLover1990 Yeah we find them bland too - hence the paprika, chilli and rum : ) works a treat, but without being too invasive... and yeah, Minion is a whizz with a knife. He worked in food and restaurants to pay his way through college, so he's quite nifty with a blade :)
I'm eye balling everything, but I think I have it down. I'll be trying this over the weekend. But instead of the rum, I think I'll add some sherry. Toodles.
I would definitely walk the plank for this amazing soup. Just as long as the waters do not have sharks, I'll be fine:) I'm a spice girl so the chili suits me fine.
Cat Foxx We do have sharks around the UK (in fact they even think we get Great Whites at seal-pup season!) so it may be we can't explore that option - but glad you like the chilli... that and the paprika add the gentlest of warmth, that stop this being bland :) xx
+Geminian INTJ Aw we never understand why, as only three countries in the world still use it... it can be very hit and miss when your'e measuring anything delicate... but if you're used to it - I guess it's second nature. (We do have conversion tables under all our recipes, to help with some of the translation issues too - ie cilantro v coriander, heavy cream v double cream etc.) have a look it may help xxx (Minion says he's an ENTJ, i have no-idea what you're both on about?!!)
Anything that takes more than 4 or 5 steps to make is too much for me since I am so admittedly lazy. How about, next time I'm in England, I'll just impose upon you by being your house guest, and you can make it for me?
+Totally Sacha - Currently, I'm in the south Chicago suburbs. I can do almost anything with chicken. And I juice a lot. I keep telling my family I'll probably die with a knife in my hands because it seems like I'm always cutting/prepping something. I'm hoping to start making my own YT videos next year, and your channel has been source of what to do to get an audience excited about what you're making. I'll be upfront and tell you I just might steal one or two of your ideas, but I'll make sure to reference your channel so that people will check you out, and see all the great recipes you did when I was just a pup.
+Thaneii Good on you - go for it! We're far from experts, but if you need advice ever, just fire us an email.... and we love Chicago - we have really good friends who live there (Mike's in the police there, and Karla is a caterer) when we visit we love the jazz, the food, even the cold!! hahaha. Great city!
Do you like to piss off your guests making them dig crab legs out of the chowder and get their hands dirty. You shelled everything else. Why not shell the crab. Think this through. I hate it when restaurants bring me dishes with messy sauce over unshelled seafood.
+Jeremy Gabbard Thank you - It hasn't happened yet - it's coming up in September, M'hearty : ) (I think it's the 19th!) Though remember: Chowder is for life. Not just for 'talk like a Pirate day'!! : ) xx
Oh my goodness! This looks heavenly! I have never used rum in my seafood chowder. I will try it your way next time for sure!
Krista Funk it works really nicely... it's rounded without being over powering, you wouldn't know it's there... but you'd notice if it wasn't :)

I never knew there was a "Talk Like a Pirate Day". Great dish Sacha! I'm sure it would satisfy a ship full of pirates.
FunFoods There seems to be a day for everything these days !!! I am aiming high and will be requesting a Totally Sacha Day soon hahahaha xxx

What's an alternative to spicy rum?
+Tanweer Eddoo The Rum is very much optional, so you can leave it out completely if you need too :-)
Cheers

You're hilarious :) Such a fantastic video. That chowder looked amazing!!!

Why the hell would you put claws in the soup? You expect the guests to dig into the soup to get the crap meat? How rude.
Brilliant! Best comment of the day!! How I enjoy dip sh1t comments like yours!

Yep, my main aim in life is to piss off as many people as I can...
So adorable. Chowder looks great, but I missed Talk Like a Pirate Day this year!
+Jeremy Gabbard Thank you - It hasn't happened yet - it's coming up in September, M'hearty : ) (I think it's the 19th!) Though remember: Chowder is for life. Not just for 'talk like a Pirate day'!! : ) xx
Oh my, I thought you'd uploaded this on TLAPD. Thanks for the heads up!
I want to be a pirate
