I really enjoy your videos and what separates them from others I have seen is that they are not just about the fishing. The experience of getting to the destination…the camping… the cooking….sitting around the campfire etc. Keep up the good work!
stoked to see where this goes. Hands down the best fly fishing and adventure channel on the tube, relatable, funny, and wholesome content from good guys. Keep it up.
Great podcast from my favourite fishing content makers. I was particularly interested to hear your comments on burn out and not wanting to fish all the time (and feeling guilty). After over 30 years of fly fishing I found all of a sudden I just didn't feel like going fishing very much. It took me a while to realise that it's ok to feel that way and to enjoy my other interests for a while. I still love your videos and they keep my fishing interest going. Great job and fantastic films. All the best with the channel.
Wow. I appreciated the films before, but never realized all of the strategizing that goes into creating it. So much that happens pre-filming, during filming, and post-filming. Such a good episode and I love Brent on the team. He has such a great personality that mixes well with everyone, I hope we see more of him on trips with you guys. Literally such a good conversation, wow. Y’all are great!!!
This was so good. Thanks guys. Scotty when you mentioned your highlight was hiring your mom on full time, wow… that’s pretty special and I cried haha. As far as future podcast topics, I’d personally love to hear more about your gear and the thought process behind capturing shots - what the objective is which in turn tells you what gear/settings, etc, because as you guys mentioned, it’s a hefty process that can be super overwhelming for beginners at first. So I’d love to learn more about your process so I can try and plug those into my own. Cheers guys! Looking forward to the next one :)
I really enjoy these podcasts as it encapsulates the success of this channel: including the viewer in the projects and fostering a sense of community. I like the vast majority of the 120k subscribers, will never meet you but your content negates that fact as it feels like a shared experience 👍
Man, what an episode. As a fellow creator, so many things stuck with me and made me ponder my own content and channel. After fishing all summer I flip to ice fishing so there never really is a time away from fishing. You talking about the breaks and how it helped with the stoke really stuck with me. I could be typing for days here. So much to unpack in this episode. Thanks for sharing boys.
Being a local from SLC. I hope one day to run into ya and fish a river one of these days. Your videos have made me want to go out and explore more of my home state.
As a creator the burnout is so real especially when you really love the outdoors year round. Should really look at hiring someone to just help take some editing workload off of you. Or even filming so you can really enjoy your fishing. I know it would be awesome as an aspiring creator to be able to work alongside and see your process. I know there is many in this community that would jump at the idea to help you make these films Scottie. Take breaks and care for yourself the way you need. ❤
Oh man! Wish I knew you were in the Bitterroot! I live here, glad you got to come fish our valley, let me know if you make it back here. You can park your bus on my property and we can fish!
Scotty, I found your content through the first shortbus, it actually got my city slicker girlfriend interested in the world of fly fishing. We laughed so hard through all of them. I hope you, adam and Steve can reconnect to create another epic adventure to bring other folks into the sport.
Great podcast. I got sucked into mountain biking about 5 or 6 years ago and it really cut into my fishing for a few years. Can’t get enough of it but I’m starting to find a good balance here lately. Heading out to Utah in September and plan to hit Moab and the Green River. Agree it keeps it interesting. Keep up the stoke!
Awesome Scotty! I was thinking about how much you grind to make vids the other day. It’s funny bc I was wondering how you produce such high quality videos and still release them at a much better rate than other channels, and how hard it is. Cool to hear what you had to say on all of that. Keep doing your thing bro!!
You guys should really try fishing in patagonia Chile. There is a freeway that crosses almost entire country that runs through Patagonia. We fly fish king salmon, steelhead which are fat and enormous. Trouts also. The best thing is that unlike Alaska we don't have dangerous animals that will harm you and really great food! Many Germans settled in the south of Chile and there are delicious pastries , sausages, and many dishes to try. You don't need to depend on your cooking skills.
Glad to see more content coming in the future. Love the videos, WFP is whole heartedly the reason I picked up fly fishing. Would love to know y'alls take on what brand of rod and reels are worth paying for, for the long term investment.
I flyfish mainly smallmouth in the Chicago area...my 8wt is a sage, which was gifted to me by my brother....bought a Ross reel for it. However, my 4, 6 and 10wt(which is salt water) are maxcatch. For a fraction of the price, they perform just as well. I use SA line. Remember Lefty Kreh said "Most fly rods cast better than most fly fishermen." Hey, if you got the bucks you can't go wrong with sage, orvis,Ross etc. Good luck
thanks so much for your videos dude, I've following you since you were going to school in NC and I was going up each summer to Bryson. I started a clothing line to help support making more and better videos. just ordered a Sony zve10 and upgraded lens. love listening to you guys talk shop. hopefully working on some good videos. Have you ever checked out @Backwater Fly Fishing. I think you would like his stuff.
