  • Holly and I return for the next chapter of our series discussing "Hope and Help For Your Nerves" by Dr. Claire Weekes. In this episode we discuss chapter 6, which is probably the lynchpin around which Dr. Weekes built her work. Learning to TRULY accept your anxiety symptoms and to TRULY believe that they are not dangerous will allow you to relax into your symptoms rather than fighting against them. Learning to relax, float, and soften in the face of the onslaught is the path to long term improvement. When you no longer fear your anxiety symptoms, they will begin to fade and you will begin to get your life back.

Dr. Claire Weekes was an angel on earth...nothing less. She saved my life and continues to do so. She was a reptile scientist in her early days...thank goodness she changed professions. It all comes down to one word-Accept...I have all 3 audio books memorized..total acceptance is hard, but the only way.

float, don't fight.. stop struggling, give up the struggle....I cry every time I hear her say it..she understands. I wish someone with her Aussie accent would narrate her books..they are different than her audio. Maybe her nieces...they carry on her foundation in the UK...I have spoken with them personally.

    17:50 "I suffered from 20 years"
20:05 "Took me a few months and I healed" "Doesn't take that long" 'The symptoms may stay for a while, fading gradually in the background"

I'm here again years later. A medical condition has triggered panic attacks.
The symptoms are from this condition but they mimic panic so so closely and the fact the level of pain, all the meds and procedures all have my system up in arms right now.
    This helps me a lot.

Holly, what an excellent point on carrying on with your activity of daily living and not always focus on your anxiety to "get better".

Im trying to accept anxiety. But i can't seem to find if anxiety can cahse 24/7 dizziness? Feel like im swaying and off balance or always on the verge of fainting. Get this weird dropping sensation

I've listened to this multiple times and hear something new each time. I am so grateful for Claire Weekes AND for your discussions about her book. You have helped me more than anything else and I so appreciate you both!

I am glad you guys really covered that subtile difference between acceptance and putting-up-with. Acceptance is 100% or nothing for a sensitized person. I love Holly's insight. It is great hearing more about how she had a major setback, but recovered again !!

You guys are brilliant.. thank you very much for taking the time to produce these videos, they are making a big difference to a lot of people.. My biggest problem is I have had 3 different doctors tell me I have 3 different things wrong with me causing all my balance and wobbly problems, one ENT specialist said ears, the other said ears but a different type of ear problem, and the third doctor said I had neck problems, so my trouble is convincing myself it is just 100% anxiety, but these videos are helping.. a lot !.. Thank you so much..

I was sore in my chest, neck, and upper back for a solid 3 years when I was in the worst of all this. Being twisted up all the time and bracing against ... something? .... can do that to a person. It's no fun at all!

Great video, and welcome back Holly!
My question for you two is this:
Whenever I have ‘anxiety spells’ and slip back into my old thinking habits I tend to watch these videos to help me get back into the groove of things. I’m wondering if that’s a problem? In a sense I’m seeking reassurance by watching your videos when I’m down, should I try to not do this and tackle a setback on my own? I find your videos extremely helpful but maybe too helpful if that makes sense? Anyways thanks for uploading!
