Hats off, mate! Lovely film, very professional production! Envious! Just recently had a passing session on the Wye myself, I'm no barbel angler, only had 1, but missed another 2 in a short session, fantastic river! I'll be following your advice for sure! Subbed 👍👍
Nice video mate! Love the videography, you obviously put a lot of effort into it! I live on the wye at Hereford, been struggling a bit this year. I’ve been using coated braid for years for the abrasion resistance and size 6 hooks big baits. Going to try scaling down pretty sure it’s what I’m doing wrong! Thanks mate given me the confidence to try a different approach ☺️
Thanks very much for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed the video. All the best for the rest of the season on the Wye. We hope you land plenty of Barbel!
New to the hobby. Went shopping today to get a feeder rod and a reel, but the guy sold me korum barbel 12ft 2lbs and guru n gauge 4000 reel. I feel like its way too heavy. Which rod would you recommended? Going to be fishing Wyre river
Great video and lovely barbel, I’ve been trying to catch barbel on the River Thames with luncheon meat but just wasn’t for me. I’m planning on using a running ledger rig with a fluorocarbon hook link with a boilie as hook bait.Is that okay? Any tips are appreciated
Thanks for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed the film. It would be worth watching the first video on our channel, which covers how to catch big barbel and chub from the River Thames. We hope this helps!
That reel looks a little sad , & line looks low on spool , but hey if it’s not broke doesn’t need fixing! Personally I think to many people change line unnecessarily so due to pressure from tackle manufacturers, on you tube! LOL , good video apart from an unmentioned certain river that is the biggest & best 4 barbel !
Lads, not the time to be putting barbel fishing on the map 👍 we got barbel floating downstream in the northwest because of idiots catching barbel in hot conditions.🔥They are a member of the carp family but they connot take the heat of summer months.. Probably best mentioning these points in your videos. 👍
Thanks for your comment. It's worth mentioning that this film was shot a number of weeks ago. If you flick back through the film you can see that Alan is wearing a fleece in a couple of scenes, which reflects the weather conditions during making this film. If we had any concerns over low D/O levels and the welfare of Barbel then we would have not made the journey.
@@TargetSpecimen I get that n that's fine but releasing it this week is a bit out of order as the rivers are on there backsides 😑 just saying m8.. I've fished For barbel exclusively so ino more about the species than Alan does.. Not saying Alan is a noddy but more so the people who make n post the videos. 👍
Great video ,fished up there last year for first time and what a place out of this world. Got 4 trips booked next year .
Really enjoyed this one Alan. Nice simple fishing.
Congratulations on your 1st Wye Barbel too 💪🏻🎣💥💥
Thanks for the comment Kenny and we're glad you enjoyed the film. All the best for the rest of the season.
One of the truest anglers out there. Thanks Alan and Gardner. Never been let down by Gardner terminal tackle either

Hi John, thanks for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed the film. We loved our trip to the River Wye!
Lovely video Alan, could you kindly recommend a good budget barbel rod for small rivers ?
A very interesting and informative video, well done Alan.
Thanks Steve and we're glad you enjoyed the film! Please let us know what other films on this channel you would like to see.

great video, stunning location
Thanks for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed the film!
Plenty more of the same style would be fantastic, have used gardner for years, brilliant tackle
Thanks Allan and we're really pleased you like and use our products. All the best for the rest of the season.
Really pleased to see Alan testing the sharpness of his hook on his skin and not on the nail as we can often see, way better for the hook point👍
Thanks for the comment and well noticed Nicolas! A sharp hook is imperative in all forms of fishing.
Brilliant video Alan, great camera work and audio👏 caught my favourite Babel capture not so far from there in the early 90s👌
Thanks Warrick and we're glad you enjoyed the film. Lovely river to fish. We REALLY enjoyed our trip!
The colours on them barbel are amazing
Thanks for the comment and we hope you enjoyed the film.
@@TargetSpecimen best tackle in the world…..do I get a discount code 😂😂😂😂
I'd be daunted by a big river, considering the river I fish I can almost step across in places and no more than 3ft deep. Fantastic video
Thanks for the comment Paul and we're glad you enjoyed the film!
Love this 👌🏻🔥🏴
Thanks for the comment Aaron and we're glad you enjoyed the film!

Great video, what trousers u wearing? They look just what I need.
Thanks for the comment and we're glad you like the film. Alan is wearing the Propus Trousers from Speero.

Thanks for the comment. The reel may look a little tired but it's still going strong after many years.
Happy belated birthday wishes Gary, all that grease will at least keep your joints well lubricated.
Caught 9lb barbel on simplest method just a bollie and hook lots of 5lb chub aswell
Well done Liam!
