  • Sky News host James Macpherson has questioned the powers given by Australia’s new hate speech laws.
The Australian federal government has passed tough new hate speech laws, aimed to tackle terror and inciting violence.
Mr Macpherson said the laws have a “direct impact” on what people post on social media.

@@pavsingh7988 Claiming One Nation voted in favor of anti-free speech policies is completely false. One Nation has actually been one of the strongest opponents of censorship laws in Australia. They have actively fought against the Misinformation and Disinformation Bill, with Malcolm Roberts and Pauline Hanson leading the charge to kill it outright. If One Nation had supported restrictions on free speech, they wouldn’t be trying to shut down legislation designed to silence dissent and control information.
As for Gerard Rennick’s People First Party, while it may have solid policies, there’s no clear evidence that they are doing more for free speech than One Nation. Rennick’s focus seems to be more on economic issues rather than taking a firm, detailed stand on free speech. Meanwhile, One Nation has directly opposed censorship laws in Parliament, proving they’re actually taking action instead of just talking about it.

Canada did very similar a while ago, it was passed because it was snuck into the middle of another bill. It received practically zero coverage in the media and it ONLY protects the interests of a certain people. In my country of Canada, you are free to deny or question the genocide of Natives, Uyghur's in China, or if you want, you can even say that nothing happened in Tiananmen Square in 1989. However, even QUESTIONING or debating what happened during a certain event is actually a fully jailable offense here.
You are free to disparage whites, males, heterosexuals, cis-identifying, and Christians while receiving no kind of backlash for it, but the second someone says the same hateful things about other groups, it's considered "hate".

We recently had a different group waving thousands of flags protesting the existence of the group you are talking about, we were told they have a democratic right to protest and there was nothing to be done. But the group of 50 people of a different color has been deemed a threat to democracy. It dosnt seem to be about the group you want to question but rather who is doing the questioning, which is of course the dominenant group in the west once again. Just my observations from debating certain topics such as super peaceful religion

As an Australian Jew that has copped nothing but terror and intimidation, the problem was never our laws. It was the cowardice and lack of enforcement by police and AFP on enforcement on genuine cases. There is a chasm of difference between a nutter on social media, and a person out on the street advocating violence.

I am sorry the Jewish people have suffered as you have done. It's pure evil to persecute as has been done to you.
As an older Australian I wish you well. I have never known such hate in this country. I can only assume the problem comes from an outside source and the police have been too cowardly to act the enforce the law they are supposed to uphold.

My family came here in the 1880s. I was born in this once great nation 60+ years ago and Australia has NEVER needed laws against hurty words before. Our larrikinism, ability to take insults and swearing were a defining part of Australian culture . .but not anymore. As kids we would also draw swastikas on our pencil cases and do the Seig Heil and goosestep out of pure fun. It was all around us in cartoons and other TV shows of the era like Hogan's Heroes. Now I would have to serve a mandatory gaol sentence if I did that today. This isn't the Australia I know and love. We should be asking questions like why after all this time do we suddenly need to introduce such undemocratic hurty speech laws? We should also be asking why our governments are being controlled the the globalist WEF and their sponsors like Bill Gates, George Soros and Klaus Schwab. None of these demons who voted for this legislation will be getting my vote. Sick of these totalitarian solutions for every problem. We don't live in a democracy we live in a Globalist Bureaucracy that is merely an outpost for the Globalist regime that is rapidly taking over our nation and planet.
