I think people buy the Tahoe's because they just like the way it looks. I think media has portrayed them as upper class and popular. You often see them in law enforcement or driving around celebrities. You don't often see an Expedition being used.
Tahoes are 100% portrayed as upper class. Not sure why. They’re completely overused. And I see a lot of rednecks driving $80,000 tahoes and Yukons that they can’t afford
To the uninitiated that side view looks much like the GM. But he's right about the independent suspension at the rear. Open the back door on the GMs and the first thing you see is the floor riser to overcome the single axle.
I am a big suv/truck guy but you're naïve if you think a large 3-row crossover is any smaller, or more fuel efficient than one of these new full-size suvs. Take the VW atlas and Chevy Traverse, sure they might be cheaper, but bc they use ancient non-turbo v6s they manage equal if not worse fuel efficiency than the turbo expedition or v8 tahoe/yukon with cylinder deactivation, also they are equally as wide just less tall. If you can afford it, might as well get a real full size suv which have the extra towing capability, are better off-road (snow), and look way better than the 3-row crossovers. It's also worth noting that full-size suvs, like pick up trucks, are often eligible for massive discounts which can bring their prices nearer to that of crossovers, which are usually not as heavily discounted due to their current "hotness" in the current market.
Great Review Chris. This redesign is better than the GM twins hands down. I just hope the ecoboost has long term durability moving around this much weight.
One of the main reasons my family considered one of these is solely the passenger space and towing capacity. I’m 6’5” and can sit comfortably in any seat. It’s a luxury we just can’t go without.
Just curious. What does reviewer Chris drive? This is the only video I've seen him sound even remotely enthusiastic about. I cannot lie, I LOVE big vehicles, mind you, I'm 71 and drove large vehicles most of my life before all the downsizing took place.
When driving my 2018 Explorer platinum with the TwinTurbo 3.5 v6 it has enough power to throw you back in the seat hard enough to give you some pain in your back LOL I’m not kidding! My wife has a hybrid Fusion with that stupid turn knob instead of a shift lever I think it just looks and operates awkwardly when did Ford decide to come out with something that is so totally different because nobody is used to it because they’ve never used such a thing!
If you haven't been able to understand why GM runs away with the large SUV segment then dig deeper and research. As an owner of a Denali with the 6.2L and having driven the Twin-turbo Ecoboost, the 6.2L wins all day long -it has the V8 growl, both have power to spare when not towing and adequate power when towing, but there is simply no replacement for displacement -naturally aspirated engines will outlast the turbos in the Ford. Also, many find GM's better looking. The Denali has real wood and aluminum in the interior. The Expedition does push GM to better theirs which is good from a consumer standpoint but I don't see Ford catching GM in the large SUV segment.
Stephen Bradley I have the same vehicle and in no way is she getting 25 mpg. I can get that on at least a flat road at 55 mph with no changes in speed and no headwind.
He's is there to review a vehicle. Not give his opinion on whether people need it or not. And the driving responsibly talk....dude just review the truck. Your preaching is getting on my nerves. There are way too many car reviewers on TH-cam for me to have to listen to that crap
Good Catch on the 2nd row chairs missing arm rests. My family would find this annoying. I really dislike the humongous center console width and height the takes away the driver's ability to stretch out their right knee on a long ride. And vote if you prefer Chris' audio playback at 1.5x speed. :) __ Yes __ No (I vote Yes)
Chris could do show on Ford Explorer St2020. in depth analysis the Do' Don't about the car and advice on your dislike about the car...... Kenya Nairobi
We drive big trucks precisely for that reason. They will crush other vehicles in an accident. We want to survive when the people in the small cars are driving erratically and hit us. BTW, aren't you driving a huge SUV while lokking at and talking into a camera, instead of watching the road? Just asking for a friend...
i can tell you why people buy more tahoes and yukons because the old expedition had a crappy interior and was exceptionally ugly however the new one is not like that at all
V8 or no V8...who cares? As long as it tows what you need it to that's all you should want. The reason I would be interested in the Expo is the adjustable 2nd-row seats and independent rear suspension, making the 3rd-row more useable and more legroom for those rear passengers. GM needs to invest and get rid of that solid rear axle and make the 2nd row seats adjustable.
But people who actually know something about cars, knows the Expedition is a superior vehicle in every way. The 5.3 OHV V8 is a torqueless piece of shit. Solid rear axle with no leg room. Crappy Bose stereo (for people who know brand names but don’t know anything about audio). Older, steel body that looks like a hearse. Shitty interior quality with “leather” that looks more like vinyl. 3.08 axle ratio to get competitive fuel economy numbers, but crappy acceleration and pulling power.
So ... you lecture the web to drive small and responsible, thinking of everyone else on the road and then admit you violated the posted speed limit. I'm outa here, last Guru's review I will watch. Too old for a lecture and never did like hypocrites.

Am I the only person who thinks that this looks better than the Lincoln?
golfbuddy1969 Yep your probably the only one
jerry pride at least 7 agreed. But I’m not afraid to be alone. 🙂

its been on the f150 since 2011, and there are videos of those with 200k miles and zero issues
Thumbs up for safety and efficiency speech.

Your points are moot. Try fitting 3 car seats in a middle row. The Explorer can’t even handle it.
cant wait to get one of these... next year...
Just curious. What does reviewer Chris drive? This is the only video I've seen him sound even remotely enthusiastic about. I cannot lie, I LOVE big vehicles, mind you, I'm 71 and drove large vehicles most of my life before all the downsizing took place.
So the price isn't ridiculous because the same company charges more for the luxury version of it? What?

Drive safe as he drives looking at the camera...
“Drive responsibly.” Thanks for the drivers Ed lecture.
After driving the expedition I opted for the 2018 explorer platinum it was all I needed the expedition was just too darn big
Enjoyed your review would watch you do more

well done
Looks good
poor show shutting down other people's channels just because they were here before you and are bigger!

Very nice.
So let me get this clear.... NO arm rest for the captains chairs ??????? that's a DNR in my book.
Hi Chris, your review style seems perfect for appliances and power tools. Just wondering if you have ever worked at Lowe's, Home Depot or the like?

Lecture about small cars? 😳😳😳
