I've already known from a very young age that there is extreme poverty in some parts of the philippines. but poverty is not just an issue that affects "third world" countries. There is also poverty in "first world" countries, as well, such as the usa, uk, france, germany and japan. There is even poverty in malaysia. The difference between "first world" and "third world" countries, is that "first world" countries are capable of providing support for the poverty stricken in their own country.
Well to be honest it is to each his own... I mean I too love philipines but not for the country but for the ladiess... hehehe however, I see loads of philipinos who migrate to other countries for work just like here in malaysia but the nature of their job or rather the type of job they do just speaks for itself.

Some of my earliest memories are in the philippines. Last time I was there, I went to manila, cavite, mariveles, pinatubo, correigador island,and balanga. Sure, it's all in luzon around manila bay, but that's where my family lives.

sorry, couldn't find a map of malaysia in from the 18th centruy, but I did find a map of the philippines during the 18th century, and it looks exactly the same as the map today, which means that philippines was not part of malaysia during that time.

ahhh, you're pulling the "i've been there and you haven't" card, now... For your information, not that it's any of your business, but yes, I have been to the philippines on various occasions. Some of my earliest memories are in the philippines. Last time I was there, I went to manila, cavite, mariveles, pinatubo, correigador island,and balanga. Sure, it's all in luzon around manila bay, but that's where my family lives.

Actually, it does. How else would I have a spanish/british/filipino surname, otherwise? It means that one of my ancestors married a person from that country or married someone with ancestors from that country. You wouldn't find a pure brit with a chinese surname, would you?
