So it’s time to revisit this amazing 1783 Söderström organ for part 3 of 'Abbé' Vogler’s 32 Preludes!🤩We’re now reaching some of the darker tonalities, starting out with F Minor, which gets a dark and mysterious elegance in Vogler's hands, as well as a dramatic quality.🌒Next up is F-sharp Minor, a key very rarely used at the time, saved for special elegiac moments such as the 19th prelude, with its gentle harmonic tension.💔There’s also room for some drama, as can be heard at the end of No. 20.💥But after rain comes G Major which is pure sunshine, and No. 22 has such a lovely dance-like character!🌞💃Finally we have G Minor, which again brings back a mild melancholy paired with elegance in falling, sighing motifs.😔🙇The end of No. 24 is magical with the use of the organ’s quietest and most colourful stops!✨Parts 1 and 2 can be found on my channel, don’t miss them, and as always - don’t forget to click the thumbs-up and subscribe!😃
Your performance of the G.J. Vogler Preludes, on that beautiful 18th century organ, is mesmerizing. I felt transported back in time. It's very nuanced. Thank you for sharing your rendition of these amazing compositions. It really brings them to life. It's interesting that the organ has been left unchanged, given the story behind it. The organ maker may have failed his exams, but he succeeded in creating a captivating instrument that passed the test of time.
It’s always so interesting to play here, you never know what the organ wants you to do with the music…! I’ve already started practicing the last eight preludes, it’s been a wonderful journey, one that I would never have embarked on without Zach asking me to do so🙂
