I just love costume parallels of this season: in the beginning, Rita is in that stunning red dress while Alma wears plain brown costume. In finale, they switched clothes and character's development.
What I loved about this season is the alternate trajectories Rita and Alma took. Rita started out as a bad person willing to hurt any one to get what she wanted but ended up "almost" being the hero of the story while Alma was an unhappy housewife who just wanted a little spark in her life who became the true....uhhh evil queen of the show.
Oh sure,,,,,abusing a man that saved her after years of abuse, is pretty low. Worse than killing people than harm you,,,,is harming and killing those that love you. Rita just wanted revenge and altruism had nothing to do with it. I love when people expose what they relate to. What they think is worse or better.
That's kinda how Lucy lui's character was in the first season. She was the meanest upfront but actually very sweet behind the scenes. Only kill that wasn't a murder
I love these women story. They are the perfect contrast since the beginning: evil and good, poverty and richness. Alma wearing red just like Rita at the beginning. I love how Rita even being selfish never betrayed Isabel, but Alma was capable of trying to kill her daughter’s husband just to cover her murders. We felt sorry for Alma at the beginning and hated Rita and now we feel sorry for Rita and hate Alma. What a good contrast of characters!
Well it happens in real life too. Have you heard of Selena Quintanilla? She confronted Yolanda and turned her back and Yolanda killed her. The lesson is: never show your cards to your enemy and never confront your enemy alone.
I mean we also have to understand that Alma was always underestimated. Rita’s downfall was still thinking that Alma is a harmless, dowdy housewife that wouldn’t dare touch her. How wrong she was.

And after all of that, she was framed for a crime she didn't commit, she lost her cousin, her reputation got destroyed, and she was stabbed to death with a screwdriver. I guess that's one of the messages that this season tried to deliver: Never judge anyone based on the outside even if it makes the inside seem rotten.
I guess you forgot all the people she tormented and bullied before alma. She has been nothing but vile and corrupt. She forgot who she was and became a disease that needed to be cleansed. Glad that bch died. She had it coming that BCH!!! Alma will have her day too. Both of them need to SUFFER! VILE WITCHES

Sure like you said she grew up poor and lived that way for a long time but at some point in her life fortune smiled on her and she was able to live better. The problem is once that happened she started looking down on people like Alma who were just like her when she was dirt poor... no one noticing them or thinking they were important. And far as being married to an old crone for over a decade of her life because she needed money well... that is on her isn't it? She made a conscious choice to sacrifice her dignity and self-respect for money.

Dee said that she was with Scooter because for those few hours then she got to be the girl with the guy who looks like movie star instead of being tossed aside or overlooked by the boys who hurt her during her life. I don't remember a specific scene with Catherine but we get the feeling that she just wanted to be loved as well. That's the common thread in this season, women who've felt overlooked and under appreciated who want, even just once, to be the focus of attention.

Yeah I learned that the hard way in High School, just wanting the "popular girls" to notice me or even my teachers at my previous uni to notice and it turned out pretty bad. I got bullied in High School and left uni because of the stress. But now I am at a different uni for what I wanted to do.
Unfortunately in high school for the first 3yrs I was so desperate to wanting to be noticed by the popular girls even going on our camps as well just to fit in. But I was bullied because I had Autism and by Year 8 (Australian high school) I couldn't take it and almost wanted to end it all, but my parents saved me from that and I started to have real friends and play video games after school, which I loved. Now I am doing a medical science (pathology) university degree. But the one thing I regret in High school was trying to desperately to fit in with those girls and been having trouble fitting in another uni that I had to leave this year because I couldn't handle it and they didn't offer the major that I wanted. Now I am finally going to be doing my major that I wanted all this time, pathology and now feeling confident with myself after all the stress I have had this year. I feel more comfortable now as I love wearing dresses and high heel shoes now .
