    I bought one of these 2nd hand from Gumtree a few days ago. Thanks for the review, it was very helpful. I'm a beginner on Kayaks who just wanted to try it out at low cost. I'm 85kg and it worked great, had a couple of pleasant paddles in the lower Coorong, South Australia. Very calm waters, no sign of it digging in at the front, just a few drips from the paddles.

    This kayak is great. I’m 16 and turned it into a fishing kayak simply by adding a rod holder and acouple accessories and boom. Use it twice so far and already caught a whopping 30 fish

    I bought one of these for $150 over 4 years ago. I'm 170cm and 73kg. I added rod holders to the centre and sides. I only ever take it to a small pond about 400m from my place and have caught plenty of redfin on it. It's easy to drag on a trolley. I wouldn't take it to big lakes or rough waters. Its short length makes it easy to store standing up in my garage.

    Just an FYI I've bought & sold about 100 kayaks. I always flip the rubber seals on the hatches. It helps a lot!
    I've got videos on most of them!
    Thanks for the review!
    I was selling one and kept telling people they had to weigh 180 Lbs or less but you're at about 210 and did OK so I sold it to someone right at 205.

    Note that the locking compartment warning of it not being fully water proof is no joke :-) it will more than likely fill with water so don’t plan on putting anything in there that doesn’t like being under water.
    We have 5 of them and take them out a bit. Last week we were up at Jurien Bay and tackled the 1km cross to Boullanger island. Pretty sure that is over the capacity of the kayak but we got it done :/)
    As has been said, cheap and cheerful product and can’t go wrong if you don’t mind getting wet on the water :-)

    On special for $149 this week, that's why I checked out the video. Need to buy a paddle and vest on top so a good deal. At 8'6 it sounds longer than it is. I might keep looking at something longer yet. How much easier is a longer kayak to paddle? I've had some health problems so want some exercise but don't want to work too hard. 😁

    Great vid.
    I was just given a Seaflo SF-1003 for free with frayed side handles, missing bung and plug things that go through the hull, so not bad with some light beaching scuffing on the underside of the bow.
    Can the little storage hole be sealed better or don't bother and just use a tiny drybag?
    Funny thing is that I thought that the holes through the hull were supposed to be open full time because my wife's 12 footer fishing kayak was second hand and didn't have any plug things.

    • @dismaldog
      @dismaldog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      do you mean on the shaft itself?-it is designed for right handed people-if you grab it with the strange shape on your right handside-you will notice that the lump fits in behind your finger joints down from your knuckles,because the paddle is off set blades your left hand paddle rotates slightly when you paddle on left side.The right hand is what we call the control hand-it stays in that position with a light grip(don't strangle it).Line up your knuckles with the top of the shaft when right blade is straight.It will become very natural in no time at all

    I have just purchased this exact same model of kayak. (I got a yellow one.)
    I am using mine on a beach and as you said in the video, this kayak is certainly NOT what you would want or need if you encounter any waves. Even the smallest of waves will break over the bow and fill the kayak with water. AND it is NOT self-bailing. :-(
    So, for VERY calm water conditions, this kayak is certainly adequate. But if you are going to use it in a setting with even the smallest of waves or turbulence, you will want to get a different kayak.

    • @dismaldog
      @dismaldog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You said, "...should be self bailing though with the scupper holes open."
      Nope. It isn't.
      The section you sit on only has one scupper hole in it and that is directly where one sits. The smallest wave fills up that section of the kayak and that water won't drain out.
