Out of all of Freddy’s demises, this was by far the most thought out and most unbelievably amazing. The souls that he captured throughout the years finally giving him a taste of his own medicine. And visually in a weird way, it was beautiful.
This was really satisfying and should have been the definitive ending for the series and Freddy. The innocent children and teenagers he killed got their revenge on him by giving him a painful, gruesome death and they were finally freed from him. Also, the image of the souls of Freddy's victims flying free was pretty beautiful and wholesome for a Nightmare movie.
The Powers-That-Be kept trying to re-create something that should've never even been attempted. Anything after this movie, beginning with Nightmare On Elm Street 5:The Dream Child, was generic, and while anything from after 4 made some money, they were disasters, compared to this gem! They should've never made anything else, after the conclusion of this movie.

Apparently, Wes Craven said this was his favourite sequel. Considering that he originally wanted to end the first movie with a happy ending, showing youth triumphing over evil, I sometimes wonder if it's because Nightmare 4 managed to fulfill his original vision in a way even better than if Nancy just wished Freddy out of existence permanently.
Even more so because of how rushed the production schedule was, to the point they ran out of budget to do one of the intended death scenes. It's a miracle this scene is this impressive.

They didn't call Pt 6 "A Nightmare On Elm St." because most of the movie doesn't take place on Elm Street but it's still a sequel. If you watch the endings of the first 5 movies Freddy always comes back at the end. He doesn't comeback at the end of Pt 6. Like his daughter said after she blew him up "Freddy's dead.".

However...when a semi-reflection of Freddy appeared at the Wishing Well, people somehow knew, that Freddy Krueger would be back...
It’s just dawned on me-think of a bully/narcissist/abuser etc and the rush they get from hurting people. It feeds their twisted ego and mind in order to satisfy the permanent emptiness they feel inside. When victims finally break free and see him/her for what they are, they regain power and hopefully go on to a better life. The abuser on the other hand, is forced to confront the emptiness they feel inside and they are confronted with their own evil soul. Their life becomes a living torturous hell and that’s poetic justice. This is perfectly depicted in this scene
This was the first Nightmare on Elm Street that I was introduced to when I was 11, and it's still my favorite. I have the theatrical poster of the Junkyard in the background and Alice's eyes looking at you with that beam of light coming out of the ground, along with all my other nostalgia posters in my basement gym. This really should’ve been the final movie. Like I got what they try to do and five, but the execution was just so bad. This was literally a perfect way to kill him, especially with the imagery of his clothes and claw falling on the ground.
The set pieces in this film are among the most insanely imaginative and vividly disturbing in any film. And this sequence might be the king of all them. I feel like you can't really pull off these kinds of graphical nightmares with CGI. Practical effects seemed like they were at their pinnacle in the late 80s before T2 and Jurassic Park pioneered CGI in the early 90s.
I always enjoyed 4 because of the practical effects, the sudden change from Kristen to Alice as the protagonist against Freddy, Alice fighting Freddy as this epic final fight, and the souls freed from Freddy as he gets killed. this is honestly last good Nightmare on Elm street movie. the first 4 are amazing Imo, 5 and 6 suck, New nightmare is interesting, and I like the remake a lot. I like to think it was in 4 that Freddy went to hell and waited until he found Jason in the crossover, no dream child or daughter to kill him

It wasn't really the mirror that killed him. The Dream Master rhyme says "in the reflection of my mind's eye". Her mind's eye would be everything she's seeing in the dream, so anybody could have used anything that would show him his reflection. It was his reflection that killed him not the mirror.

I thinks more linked to how Nancy beat him in one. Alice no longer had any fear of him and completely stood up to him. Taking away all his power he had over her. Since it was her dream she demanded he let out the souls she had freed then all.
The souls of Krueger's past victims breaking free and tearing him apart inside and out is a great idea, and the execution here is brilliant (and absolutely gruesome, holy crap...). Why did the build up to it have to be so lame, though (using Krueger's reflection to defeat him? Really? I get that it ties in to the Dream Master rhyme and Alice's character arc, but it should have been handled better)?
Because if you remember. Neither Alice nor him face themselves in the mirror. when also was ready and accepted her duty and position as the dream master she saw her reflection and it solidified it. When She remembered the dream master rhyme he use her power to will freddy to face his own reflection of the evil he became. He hadn't seen what he became and could with Stand it. That gave the souls a chance to break free cause it weakened him as she all willed it aswell. Very symbolic qnd makes absolute sense

This is the single best Freddy death in the whole series, a highly ambitious concept that was accomplished through some amazing practical effects. Honestly, I can watch just this scene without the entire rest of the movie, and marvel at how they did it.

For those of you who don't understand, the Dream Master rhyme is a counterspell to the spell 1, 2, Freddy's coming for you . . . Using the power of the counterspell, Alice reflects Freddy's power back at him, which enables the souls he has imprisoned to be able to fight to freedom for so long as Alice returns Freddy's energy back to him, which we see each time the glass she holds flashes. Mirrors don't do it against Freddy. What caused this is that Alice's counterspell put her back in control, and from there, she was able to send back to Freddy what he was sending her.

Alice and Freddy were two halves of a dream doll. Alice was the light, and Freddy was the darkness. Kristen didn't have enough time to learn the scope of her powers; thus, Alice ( a chronic daydreamer) would have handled the dream powers better. Dream dolls have a white face and a black face. No, Tina, Rod, and Glen were the first Nightmare On Elm Street kids he killed after his death so he wasn't that strong yet. Tina, Rod, and Glen would have gone straight to heaven after their deaths. I'm pretty sure that the Jessie year kids would have gone straight to heaven after their deaths too. In NOES 3 is when Freddy begun keeping the killed teens souls.

Yeah I think this seriously should have ended the franchise, I mean all the souls Krueger captured are now free from him so there's no point for Freddy to revive himself.
This really should’ve been the final movie. Like I got what they try to do and five, but the execution was just so bad. This was literally a perfect way to kill him, especially with the imagery of his clothes and claw falling on the ground.
The set pieces in this film are among the most insanely imaginative and vividly disturbing in any film. And this sequence might be the king of all them. I feel like you can't really pull off these kinds of graphical nightmares with CGI. Practical effects seemed like they were at their pinnacle in the late 80s before T2 and Jurassic Park pioneered CGI in the early 90s.
This the way the entire series should have ended. How many insane times do you need to kill Freddy? Lol

I always enjoyed 4 because of the practical effects, the sudden change from Kristen to Alice as the protagonist against Freddy, Alice fighting Freddy as this epic final fight, and the souls freed from Freddy as he gets killed. this is honestly last good Nightmare on Elm street movie. the first 4 are amazing Imo, 5 and 6 suck, New nightmare is interesting, and I like the remake a lot. I like to think it was in 4 that Freddy went to hell and waited until he found Jason in the crossover, no dream child or daughter to kill him

It wasn't really the mirror that killed him. The Dream Master rhyme says "in the reflection of my mind's eye". Her mind's eye would be everything she's seeing in the dream, so anybody could have used anything that would show him his reflection. It was his reflection that killed him not the mirror.
@@trickq5883 Not only just his reflection cause prior when he gotten. Debbie he thrown the weights into the mirror in her dream and he had seen his reflection. I thinks more linked to how Nancy beat him in one. Alice no longer had any fear of him and completely stood up to him. Taking away all his power he had over her. Since it was her dream she demanded he let out the souls she had freed then all.

IMHO this should have been the final movie. Better to end like this than to milk it.
The souls of Krueger's past victims breaking free and tearing him apart inside and out is a great idea, and the execution here is brilliant (and absolutely gruesome, holy crap...). Why did the build up to it have to be so lame, though (using Krueger's reflection to defeat him? Really? I get that it ties in to the Dream Master rhyme and Alice's character arc, but it should have been handled better)?
Because if you remember. Neither Alice nor him face themselves in the mirror. when also was ready and accepted her duty and position as the dream master she saw her reflection and it solidified it. When She remembered the dream master rhyme he use her power to will freddy to face his own reflection of the evil he became. He hadn't seen what he became and could with Stand it. That gave the souls a chance to break free cause it weakened him as she all willed it aswell. Very symbolic qnd makes absolute sense

This is the single best Freddy death in the whole series, a highly ambitious concept that was accomplished through some amazing practical effects. Honestly, I can watch just this scene without the entire rest of the movie, and marvel at how they did it.
2:10 it's actually pretty beautiful the scene when the souls are finally realized from their Freddy's prison and now able to go to the other side
The franchise should’ve ended after this film. It had the perfect end to Freddy, and would’ve been the best way to finally end the story.
I wish they would have brought more detail and individually to the souls. Cool way of paying respect to everyone from the previous 3 films. Tina, rod, Glenn, Nancy, jessie, the dream worriors.

For those of you who don't understand, the Dream Master rhyme is a counterspell to the spell 1, 2, Freddy's coming for you . . .
Using the power of the counterspell, Alice reflects Freddy's power back at him, which enables the souls he has imprisoned to be able to fight to freedom for so long as Alice returns Freddy's energy back to him, which we see each time the glass she holds flashes.
Mirrors don't do it against Freddy. What caused this is that Alice's counterspell put her back in control, and from there, she was able to send back to Freddy what he was sending her.

@@MrPerfect2000Z No, he had to finally match arms with a worthy opponent. Nancy was the first step, Kristen entered as a more evolved opponent, and Alice became a worthy successor. Alice and Freddy were two halves of a dream doll. Alice was the light, and Freddy was the darkness. Kristen didn't have enough time to learn the scope of her powers; thus, Alice ( a chronic daydreamer) would have handled the dream powers better. Dream dolls have a white face and a black face. If you look them up on Google you'll see.
Edith Smith pretty cool concept the dream master has always been my favorite in the series by a large margin.

No, Tina, Rod, and Glen were the first Nightmare On Elm Street kids he killed after his death so he wasn't that strong yet. Tina, Rod, and Glen would have gone straight to heaven after their deaths. I'm pretty sure that the Jessie year kids would have gone straight to heaven after their deaths too. In NOES 3 is when Freddy begun keeping the killed teens souls.
@River Jordan yes he was which is why he came back at the end. Tina rod and Glenn were definitely amongs the crew. Even comicon mentioned it during their interview.
