Perhaps the best book I’ve ever read- in my 60 plus years of reading.

I just finished this book. It touched me, and at times, moved me to tears. Complex and beautifully written. Every American should read this book. It humanizes the immigrant story. Well done Mr. Zamora! I wish you happiness and continued success.

This book is such an important work!! Solito shares a journey so many have to take…a true insight into the migrant’s humanity and struggle…told from a child’s eyes…told beautifully…what a book…

As a daughter of a Salvadoran father and Mexican mother who both migrated to the US to California as well, it was interesting to read this book. I cried reading this. His story of his journey to the US was so into detail. I never rlly learned how people from Central America make it across I just hear how they got here from going through Mexico. It must’ve been a lot of trauma to unpack while writing this book. I don’t have a relationship with my dad as he and my mom separated when I was 5. So I don’t know many details of his journey to the US. I know that he went through a lot coming here that it got him to depend on alcohol for that pain and trauma.
