I'm going to be exhausted by the end of this trip! Putting out a video every day is hard work :)
The hotel was $38 per night. We used booking.com, but here is its website if you want to check it out: www.palacegatepp.com/

Great hotel, looks like a bit of old world charm. Yes it must very hard to put out a video every day

@@JJ-vy2rh Thanks for watching! Yeah, it's full of that nice, old-world charm here at the Palace Gate. At least there are two of us, so we only have to make a video every second day.

That’s quite a value for its location.

My favorite vid for I was born hier some 73 yrs ago..nice childhood memories at palace and temple which was my first school. Never forgot the first school day back then. quite emotional. Was there in 2018 and 2019 after 50 years abroad. Fortunately they put a nice Hotel, classy place with french touch. Tamarin trees of my childhood are still there, alongside the streets. Thank you Claire.

Lovely memories you describe, and so much must have changed in that time. It is a really pretty part of Phnom Penh and very pleasant to walk around with the big trees. It's so nice to see local people enjoying a stroll in the afternoons. Thank you so much for watching!

I had a look on Google and they had the hotel at $31...incredible value ...a bit further down from my $20 hotel on 136 St. but at $31 it’s worth changing...good find guys

The value at that hotel is incredible right now. I think we paid 55 or 60 at the Baitong and this place is in a class above.

Bed was amazing, so comfortable. Breakfast was spot-on and the staff were super friendly.

Actually it's where the Mekong meets the Saap river and after that point the continuation of the Saap river is called the Bassac river :)

Sabara Angkor Resort & Spa in Siem Reap is a 4 star hotel on SFPDA road & has a great breakfast for free, eggs, bacon, juice, toast and so much more as much as you can eat. Traditional massage is also available on site, looks very much like the one in this video.

I have never heard of that hotel so I just googled it. It looks very nice indeed. The pool is lovely!

@@ForRiel Just down the street from my condo so I have stayed there many times before my condo was ready. Still like to go for breakfast but now I have to pay as I am not a guest of the hotel but still all you can eat.

You have a great talent for finding Champagne resorts, on a beer budget, your room 303 would be the Lee Enfield suite, ( think about it ) the gas mask very handy in the event of germ warfare, I’m enthralled, and looking forward to more of the same, regards Peter,

Haha thanks Peter. I think Kampot will be a different story. Hotel prices there seem to be pre-COVID, and we still don't have anything booked for tomorrow night. Yes! The Lee Enfield suite indeed. They could put in some memorabilia and charge more for it :) We've only ever seen those masks in a hotel room once before, and that was in Guangzhou maybe 7 years ago.

Nice hotel tour guys. I'm a budget traveler so I stay with my sister in PP with a car and personal driver. She also has a beautiful home in the countryside of Pursat Province next to Battambang. Enjoy your travels. Cheers from Minnesota!

That is a lovely hotel , and yes , a fantastic value , that comment about " man mess " made my day , clearly you're having a wonderful time , stay safe , take care , Peace ...

    • @ForRiel
      @ForRiel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Haha, yeah the man mess is a combination of techy gadgets, cords and cables, discarded clothes, and strangely enough, our screwdriver. I was surprised when I saw that he had brought that. It's to tighten the screw in his tripod, apparently!

Thanks for a big heads up on this hotel. When my (Cambodian) wife and I manage to get back we will most def check this out. In fact, I'll check it out online right now! We wonder if that's covid pricing. Even so, we love this area (lived in St178 for years). Last time stayed at OK plus two others in the same area...all 80 bucks a night. I must be moving up cos when I first came to Cambodia if I paid more than 10 bucks I felt ripped off!! Mind you...there were never pillow menus...

    • @ForRiel

It's a wonderful hotel and one we wouldn't consider at full price. We liked it better than the Baitong which is a more modern place that is very popular. The Palace Gate is a slice of luxury indeed. AMAZING breakfast too.
