      Trust me, the amount of money needed for R & D, fabrication and FAA certification will sink this company. They would be better off jumping on board with an existing company that has funds and that needs a fresh start, like Enstrom or another smaller company. Also, no one in their right mind would want to fly a helicopter for five hours straight; your arms, legs and hips would be so spent you wouldn't be able to walk "if" you could still land the thing after a five hour run.

    • @Funeral_Potatoes
      @Funeral_Potatoes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@BobABooey. Sounds like you've never tried flying a helicopter for five hours straight. As someone who has done it quite a few times (obviously including hot refuels), I'll tell you it's not like running a marathon. It's part of the job, and while maybe not as comfortable as sitting in an airliner, it's no worse than driving a car on a roadtrip or something, depending on the type of helicopter. Just because most helicopters only have two or three hours of fuel endurance doesn't mean pilots don't stay in the cockpit for very long periods of time. Anyone who has done helicopter tourism, powerline work, or many other utility type jobs can tell you that 5 hours is often a short day in the aircraft.

    • @Funeral_Potatoes
      @Funeral_Potatoes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@BobABooey. Also, I mean no disrespect. You make a good point about the cost of R&D, certification, etc. Keep in mind however, that Hill plans to escape the cost of certification of the HX50 by making it experimental, meaning there is no certification required. That doesn't mean it won't be a safe and capable aircraft, just not usable for commercial purposes. Later there will be the HC50, intended for commercial use, which will be certified, and will have a bigger price tag to offset the cost of the certification. That model will come later since the certification process takes quite a bit of time, as you probably know. At least that's my understanding of it. I know people who have some of these aircraft on order and I'm optimistic. It could breathe new life into the world of helicopters, but time will tell.

    • @BobABooey.
      @BobABooey. 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I take it you did farm work. I've flown from southern California to northern California and back again in a 500, not fun at all. Not to mention regular flying days, usually for two hour runs. Every year there's a mock-up like this one at HAI or ALEA and they never see the light of day. I'm always curious if these guys are simply looking for investors because bringing a ship to market from the ground up, (Unless it's experimental ) just doesn't happen anymore . @@Funeral_Potatoes

I would have thought this nex-gen helicopter would have had some type of that system; the center console control screen. It's amazing how many control panels are replaced by the one touch screen.
    I've flown jump seat on commercial aircraft, and the best seats were on the MD-80 / DC-9. Right in the center of the flight deck, at the rear, being able to see everything that was going on inside and outside of the flight deck during the flight. Exactly what you mentioned for the rear, center seat on this helicopter.

    i just started the process of getting my pilots license, its been a dream off mine since i was a kid. absolutely gorgeous aircraft!! I'm sitting here thinking why is it almost $1mil tho, until he says FULL Carbon Fiber, an i was like ooooohhhhhhhh. The advancements in cockpits today are absolutely insane!!!! It's nothing but screens and all digital. When I got my A&P license 10 years ago pretty much everything was still Analog. now its all-digital and blows my mind. 6 switches instead of 100 lol. makes flying so much easier! its legit like playing a video game. and nothing is fly by wire anymore! even as a redundancy? dont you always want an analog system as a backup in case the main hydraulics or pneumatics fails. i know the push/pull rods are sturdier, but they can still fail so what is the redundancy?
    That said these advancements are going to make it so anyone can fly. like driving a car. I cant wait to see what they become in another 50 years!

Yes this a bad ass chopper but knowing you have one of those rare products in existence that was really well considered is altogether additional thing to be proud of should you be lucky enough to own one of these. Later, after nearly finishing flight school, found out I was bipolar and there went the dream. I fly sims now, and cheer on people like you that live the dream. Helicopters always interested me, had several rides in them, but at the same time, I can't figure the damn things out, lol. Better to fly a small, light airplane that lands in a short area than try to fly/land a helicopter. I can find the ground everytime, but usually not in a way that the engineers would prefer.

    A true work of art I must say, Mr Hill has done an outstanding job bringing this to light.
    A couple of Question:
    1-Will the fuel tanks be impact safety rated against fire?
    2-Will their be an override system for the dual controls?
    3-Are the Bear paws going to be made a bit wider to prevent unwanted and uneven settling (common in snow).
    4- Will their be safety guards in place to prevent exhaust corrosion over the tail boom which has been the cause of tail boom failures over the A-Star and Bell products?
    Well done Mr, Hill, Well done. :)

    • @PilotYellow
      @PilotYellow  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1 - Yes the fuel tanks are crash resistant bladders and then they are foam filled like modern race cars to control sloshing and rate of fuel drain in the very unlikely event they get punctured.
      2 - dual controls are always mechanical. So there is no override to disconnect one from the other. Good verbal communication fixes that.
      3 - Yes, good sized bear paws to allow for snow landings.
      4 - we will analyze that in testing to see if it’s necessary. There are differences in the way we burn our fuel and position our exhaust as well as the tail boom materials. I can tell you more while in flight testing next year.

    Wow. If that could fly… like, in the air… or be used to go from place to place… then it would be amazing. Until then, it’s a really exciting model to look at.

    Love almost everything! I personally don't like touch screens in aircraft. They are very challenging to manipulate during normal flight, bumps, turbulence, etc. Otherwise fantastic aircraft! Hope to fly it one day!

    Great presentation! Definitely moving into a new era with this one. One question; I only saw the cyclic move up and down as you did the demo. Does it move left and right as well or a twist on the grip?

    One of the best looking helicopters. I already saw the big presentation 2 months ago. What would bother me as a pilot: if the touchscreen is at the front, I would have to lean forward every time. Not bad on an airplane, but more so on a helicopter. Once it's available on the market.😏

    When you open the door it looks like an SUV.
    I wish I was pilot and rich cause I’d be ordering one of these, it’s gorgeous.

    Wow!!!
    First time we are seeing engineering numbers regarding the Hill Heli…. Now we have something to compare to!
    Power and fuel flow and speed are important to real pilots…. The engine and trans need to actually work to achieve these numbers…
    Impact strength got glossed over a bit…. Putting fuel in the strongest part of the airframe is important… where it is critical, is when the helicopter hits the ground hard…. How Are the occupants protected from the fuel when carbon fiber shatters in the hard landing?
    Looks like a large comfortable airframe… pushing it at 140 knots is going to need a lot of efficiency! 😃
    Great presentation!

    When will the flight testing begin? The static display is nice, and it will be interesting to see how much of the concept stuff makes it into production.

    Camera mode while flying is a sweet feature! I hope there will be a sort of export feature for each flight if you wanted to?

    Not a pilot, but have spent a lot of hours working out of the 206. This machine is a dream machine for sure. I hope I get to fly in one someday.

      Did he made a mistake when he said this helicopter packs fuel for 5 hours? I never heard of a helicopter this size fly straight for 5 hour lol

      @@lcfflc3887 I believe he did, of course this is dependent on load and wind. 175 gal fuel tank + front bladder. Practically I would not count on it, but it is a very good machine for working. I would love to have had such a sweet ride when I was working out of helicopters.

    I've been admiring this, fascinated it is possible to include so many awesome designer specs in a model that now comes in at a sticker price of under a million. Surely it is today your rotocraft has advanced to flying car. I noticed that the MD aircraft in the background applies the principles of NOTAR which as we know involves flying with balanced pedals. This this also true of fenestron models or does this (as I suspect) involve tweaks for cantilevering?

    The interior and exterior looks of this helicopter is insane. I believe the visibility from the PIC seat will be better than B407.
    This is truly the Mercedes S class sedan of all helicopters.
