Thank you so much Jane it is impressive I thing also it is a all day attraction as well. It is going to do well and be successful. well done to blackpool it was needed a long time ago. I 'm not able to get there it brings memories.♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Hi Jane, thanks for yet another interesting and informative vlog 😃 They must have spent millions on that 'museum', and there's lots of interesting stuff to entertain all ages. Plenty for the kids to love. Just one thing, though. On entering the main area the first interactive screen it projects images of buildings and people through the years and a maroon and cream tram travelling across the screen. Now being the geek I am, that is an image of an Edinburgh tramcar which visited the resort, on loan, to help celebrate the tramways centenary in 1985! How come they didn't use an image of the traditional Blackpool Balloon double deck tramcar, painted green and cream, that most visitors associate with Blackpool promenade and that still operate today on Heritage Tours?
It looks like a fab place to visit. I think the building looks to Morden, though for a museum. I prefer old stone buildings myself. Thanks for sharing, Jane. 😊
The Palatine building that was rebuilt was grotty - a 1960/70's concrete block with loads of decay. So the new building is an improvement - although not especially pretty!
The Illuminations exhibits are most interesting - particularly the rotating drum switch ... good, solid reliable technology! LED displays will not need such a beefy switchgear! I hope that there will be reference to the trams somewhere - at Solaris and now on TH-cam there is a film made in the early 1900's from a tram travelling up the Golden Mile with the tourists garbed in the clothes of that period. When I worked in London the Victoria and Albert was one of my second homes [as were all the museums] but I never got around to where the clown uniforms were - most of what I saw was Before Common Era [BC as was]. However I did see some of Houdini's effects in a temporary exhibition at the Edward Passmore museun - sadly defunct ... I wonder if the handcuffs I saw were those exhibited in Showtown? The wallspace in the entrance hall and ticket area needs to be filled and made the most of but maybe that will come. As this is early days I hope there maybe a facility for visitors to contribute their ideas and thoughts for use of the events area as well as memories. A museum evolves and maybe there could be interpretive actors in approriate outfits playing the part of tourists describing the journey on an excursion train, the B and B rules [6d extra for use of cruet] or maybe describing the dances held on the pier before the Tower Ballroom existed. There are so many aspects that can be explored and Kris and Myself wish this museum all the very best for a bright, fun future.
I don't know. There ought to be different rules for dogs in prams. I mean if places banned kids in pushchairs there'd be an outcry - and it's no different.
And how long did it take for them to finally open it. The new IMAX was designed, showed, built, and opened before this was open and this is smaller🤣 And even still it’s not complete from the outside.
Oh, thank you. Hubby was ranting when he watched it when they came out and said something like ‘it’s not what it used to be’. It’s called change and everything does it!
It's excellent - all the AV toys are accessible too - did you spot the hole under the thing where you take your photo to appear in the AV wall? That's to get a wheelchair underneath - and everything is the same.
What makes you say that? I've owned a design/creative company for the last 30+ years and made a lot of/seen a lot of exhibition products and I can tell you with some experience that the quality of the displays and fit-out is top-notch. It's all very well made and very tastefully done. And no, I haven't been paid to say that.
@@visitfyldecoast I live about 5 hours drive from blackpool so I will only visit once a year and people coming to visit for a weekend I don't think they will want to pay £15.
The clue is in the description : Museum of Fun and Entertainment. It is an illustration of over a century of the holiday experience of ordinary hard working folk. I have always thought that there is an interesting sociological perspective here yet to be fully explored. This isn’t meant to be The Smithsonion.
All about Showtown Blackpool at this link: bit.ly/shotow-bpl
I particularly like the bright red sneakers on the bookish lady with the smart office twin set. She’s been Blackpoolised…….Great video.

Looks brilliant, Jane. Something different when we next visit. Xx

IT'S JUST BEEN ON THE NEWS !! THE SIX O'CLOCK NEWS !!!!!! SID LITTLE !! BLACKPOOL TOWER !! ORVILLE THE DUCK !! BBC SIX O'CLOCK NEWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah well we saw it today too!

Forgot to mention that bit, there will be actors playing out scenes
@@visitfyldecoast Have you booked Kevin to play Houdini escaping through that cell door? Methinks he could be very convincing Jane :-)
I forgot to mention that the musical instrument is a bassoon by the way - not an easy instrument to talk to gigs rather than a flute or trumpet!!!
I wonder if we could bring our Pug in his pram, hed enjoy that. 😉
I don't know. There ought to be different rules for dogs in prams. I mean if places banned kids in pushchairs there'd be an outcry - and it's no different.
@@visitfyldecoast They let him in Sea world, thought he was a baby! 🤣
Did you ask how much the tickets are...or did i miss that.
They are expensive if you only make one visit
All the info is here www.liveblackpool.info/recreation-entertainment/attractions/showtown-blackpool-museum/
And how long did it take for them to finally open it.
The new IMAX was designed, showed, built, and opened before this was open and this is smaller🤣

At least it is finished. Building a new museum from scratch isn't quite the same as opening a cinema.
Why you not doing Brew at 2 anymore Visit Fylde Coast?
Things move on - it was explained in this vlog: th-cam.com/video/f7Ze6erXypQ/w-d-xo.html
The instrument in the glass case is a ‘Bassoon’ and is part of the woodwind family of instruments like the Oboe. You shall now sleep easier tonight !
That's the one - I struggle to get the right words quickly enough for ordinary things so I'd no chance with this one! Thanks!

Week of the week is the best day of the year
The Sands buildin seems to be going on forever 😂 I hope it pays off the museum till the next one 😊
I think there’s a dispute or something going on. I’m sure it will be resolved eventually!
better than the BBC segment on this by miles
Oh, thank you. Hubby was ranting when he watched it when they came out and said something like ‘it’s not what it used to be’. It’s called change and everything does it!
Where is the Cafe for Brews Visit Fylde Coast?
There isn't one. But there's about 550 elsewhere in Blackpool!
Why are you in blackpool
£15 for the second best museum in Blackpool? Rather go to Brooks collectables, open since 1949. £1 to get in there....
That's another option...
No wonder people are stopping going to blackpool
And why’s that then?
@@visitfyldecoast Perhaps James is winding you up ? Beware the curse of the Rabbit James.
lol @@calderdale6795
what's the wheelchair access like?
There's a lift - mentioned in the video
It's excellent - all the AV toys are accessible too - did you spot the hole under the thing where you take your photo to appear in the AV wall? That's to get a wheelchair underneath - and everything is the same.
@@visitfyldecoast thanks Jane I'm looking forward to going back to Brickhouse farm cottages in June
😄😄
I LOVE THE BRITISH ACCENT, MUCH CHEERFUL, THAN THE LET DOWN PUT DOWN AMERICAN ACCENT, BRITISH LANGUAGE IS A HAPPY LANGUAGE,.......MARIUS(PUNK RULES).
That's horrible cheap tacky

I got a bit bored watching but I think we need to visit to see what's it like but will £15 put people off.
When it's a visit-as-much-as-you-like attraction? @@hardworker8030 It's not bad for a year, I think
