I have only discovered you, after your distinguished life.I was blessed with a father, & a brother, whi regularly played piano in the home my siblings & myself were brought up, which was the best part to record.I adore your performances now until my death. R.I.P.
The 24 Preludes are a tremendous tour de force. Many pianists do it... and few of them get to the finish unscathed. It is not exactly the technical difficulty, it is the difficulty to play, with the high standard that it deserves, each slow, fast, rhythmical, melancholic, poetical piece. It is hard, even for great pianists, to not show certain, almost unavoidable, weaknesses in expression in this or that prelude. Maurizio Pollini passes with high scores his self-imposed challenge, as many times has done, with this Op28, in his long an prodigious life as pianist. Many, many thanks for putting this great concert here. This kind of content is invaluable for music lovers.
Danke
Agreed. He played like an atheist. Unlike his teacher Michelangeli, who had a superhuman command, yet a true elegance and humility where you still felt divinity . I saw him live in the 90s just to see what the fuss was about and nothing except an extraordinary facility and form with no soul.
Un genio della musica. Del pianoforte, grazie Maurizio.
Lei possiede un'anima nobile. Grazie per le belle parole.
Thanx. RIP Maurizio

Black Vladimir Horowitz he plays the piano like Vladimir Horowitz
basic ; the best for me is 1970-1985 after to many recordings ; here for me Alfred Cortot in first , j don't like here
