Dancing the baby goodbye. That breaks my heart and makes me smile all at once. What a loving mother you are. That is the most precious thing I've ever seen. Thank you so much for sharing that.
You're so strong. I can only imagine the pain of that, and what it has taken to come back to the dance, and to the journey of pregnancy again. From one pregnant lady to another, blessings!
WOW.... WOW.... WOW... words... wow. I too have heard that this art was "born" out of preparations for labour, but I this is only the second pregnant dance I have seen... beautiful, and so much control... amazing.
2) Provided there are no complications and the doctor okays it, belly dance is actually GOOD for pregnancy. It strengthens muscles that are used in childbirth, can ease back pain, and some of the movements can even help position the baby for delivery. Many babies seem to like belly rolls and shimmies, too. :) You just should never try any activity that is very different from what your previous level of fitness allowed leading up to pregnancy.
Everyone with bad comments just shut up-belly dancing is such a beautiful dance and makes dancer a goddess, and although it looks pretty easy, believe me, it's not...it's hard enough to do all those belly waves and camels and things without a pregnant belly, imagine with it...perfect video!
you did a beautiful dance.. and am sorry to hear of your loss.. the time you two shared was one of music.. and love.. you have such a flow about you.. so different from my dance, cabaret/egyptian.. but i love it all!!! going to rakkasah this weekend!! wooooooooo hoooooooooo.. hope to see some of you there!!! keep up your dancing and vids.. would love to see more!!! ty for sharing and Many Blessings to you
WOW, Rose is amazing! That baby was probably loving the ride in there, and I'll bet this kind of music calms the baby when it cries now.... very lovely.
This is a beautiful way to say goodbye. My first daughter was stillborn at 37 weeks (7 years ago). I didn't have any photos of my beautiful pregnant self and really wish I did. I didn't find bellydance until 2 years ago and really enjoy having my daughters dance with me (5 and 3 years). I wish you a very happy and boring pregnancy!
This is one of the most beautiful videos I have never seen... And that's one of my dreams, dance when I will be pregnant. Congratulations, it is fantastic
This was the most beautiful and moving dance I have seen. Reading about your outcome made it even more special. I wish peace and joy for your family and please keep dancing. Bright Blessings!
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of this child. Thank you for sharing such great clips even in your moment of sadness. I wish you the best of health and luck with your new blessing. ~ Aminah ~
estoy encantada con el video, leyendo los comentarios supe de la perdida, es tan triste, pero la vida sigue su curso tus bbs futuros son la bendición, espero que todos bailen tan hermoso como tu!
I was so emotionally moved watching this woman dance I was actaully in tears and once I read that she lost this precious little life my heart ached for her. So to read the filth that Mr Unjust felt the need to write sent me into a fury.
That's so beautiful. I really love it! Keep dancing pregnant or not b/c either way its beautiful. I know I will still dance when im that big as well! i read a story from a book a teacher wrote about how it helped her through labor. :D
Please, please let me know if you have a video with a tutorial for pregnant women available for purchase. this is beautiful, i think all pregnant ladies should have the opportunity to embrace the power of dance to celebrate their womanhood and creativity.
So sad that so many people would put what they did on this page after learning that she had a miscarriage. I know it was a long time ago, but it never seems to escape the mind. I would know as I have had a miscarriage too, and in my second pregnancy. Keep dancing, girl, and I hope that you have some wonderful experiences!
Beatiful, Rose... this kind of feminine power is what belly dance is all about! It broke my heart to learn the outcome of the pregnancy. I hope the next one had a happier ending I'm a bellydancer (performer & teacher) who is currently pregnant -- mostly on sabbatical from performing because, unfortunately, too many idiots see my belly as a "disfigurement" (seriously, WTF is wrong with our society??) -- and wanted to clarify some things for a few morons here:
1) The point of belly dancing (yes, even cabaret style dancing!) is NOT to entice men. It's a women's folk dance, one that in fact is believed to have roots in childbirth ritual. Hollywood gave it that provocative image, along with some deliberate misleading by show promoters at the Chicago World's Fair back in 1893. A few modern dancers give it a bad image, too, because this is what they think sells, but there is nothing innately vulgar about belly dance.
@onefleetingsmile go to amazon, they have some pregnant bellydance videos you can buy there, usually for REALLY cheap! You can even do regular oriental, tribal, or tribal fusion bellydance while you're pregnant too! lol I just bought a tribal fusion DVD and I can't wait to try it out. I hope my belly looks as good as hers when i get to be that far along! rofl i feel like a big ol blimp sometimes.
Really superb, so wonderful highly energetic and impressive thrillings and greaceful creativity and super workout and nice expression in this super Tribal fusion belly dance act and nice music and unbelievable and unbeatable so much very nice super body language performance and the almighty God bless you for your bright future with all good wishes.
I agree that we don't see things the same way and that's fine. Good, even. What I wonder is: This woman lost that baby and this dance, looking back, was a spiritual way for her to say goodbye to her stillborn baby...would this not be one of those times where your negative (or anyone's) opinion could just not have been posted?
*The point of modern belly dancing is to arouse men* The point of cabaret-style bellydancing, maybe, but this style is tribal fusion. The point of tribal fusion-style bellydancing is to dance and enjoy dancing and celebrate life, which is obviously what this dancer is doing. *that's why there aren't any fat chicks that get paid good money to do it in public.* Untrue.
One more thing... Some individuals may think pregnant bodies are sexy, beautiful, or hideous. Personal preference, you can't control it, whatever. I respect that. But if you think it's gross, who is holding a gun to your head to watch? Just close the window, you don't have to post bitchy things about it. We have personal choice in our video viewing! The huge number of views that videos showing people popping giant zits gets is proof of that. Get over it. /rant Sorry guys...was pissed
Thanks all for your great comments. I ended up having a still birth a few days after this dance and I am sure that the baby was not alive while I was dancing in the white costume. It has been a difficult journey and I am finally able to look at the video again and realize that I was dancing the baby goodbye. I am pregnant again now and very excited.
If it makes you feel like puking, why don't you JUST NOT WATCH? Women hid their swelling tummies and then went into hiding when they couldn't because it was an indication that they had had sex. Men were commended for their part in conception but women were once again considered soiled somehow. Why should women feel ashamed of being pregnant? It's how we all got here. It should be, and is in this video, celebrated.
"The point of modern belly dancing is to arouse men - that's why there aren't any fat chicks that get paid good money to do it in public." This has to be the most ignorant statement I've ever read. Belly dance is NOT synonymous with sexual enticement. Sure, belly dancers may be sexy, but they're not dancing for you or any other disrespectful pig of a man. It's a dance for ALL women (even men) to participate in. I know many women of all shapes and sizes whose full time job is sharing their art.
Then you truly are an ignorant soul to not be able to see the beauty in this. Learn to broaden your horizon and your mind before thinking to speak out of turn again. If you do not enjoy, then keep your opinions to yourself. You provide nothing constructive nor productive to the table when you put forth pointless negativity. In other words, if you don't like it, just click the little red X and be done.
My mother had the grace to A) not make a fool of herself by belly dancing while pregnant and B) not make a public spectacle of herself. But I guess everyone thinks that everything they do should be shown to everybody these days. Shame has died, unfortunately.
belly dancing's purpose is NOT to arouse men. it was originally a dance of celebration that both men AND women preformed.
this is beautiful!
The baby must be so peacful, This is such an emotional dance especially to dance with your child, I'm tearing a bit.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. I love watching women dance while pregnant.

You're so strong. I can only imagine the pain of that, and what it has taken to come back to the dance, and to the journey of pregnancy again. From one pregnant lady to another, blessings!

Thats what "belly dance" was used for to start with. For fertility and child birthing purposes. research your stuff! Its actually pretty cool.
Amazing
