Reducing human and environmental impact has always been a cornerstone of Austrian railways. Just look at how beautiful and clean the stations are. They look perfect. I remembered that the Drautalbahn to Maribor was diesel and it would be a nice line to travel. I was in Wolfsberg two years ago on my way back from Graz and I took the road up to the Koralpe.. wonderful scenery surrounded by greenery. Styria and Carinthia have sublime landscapes. The Koralmbahn is the largest project of the OBB and they have been working on it for years and it will streamline traffic on the Rudofsbahn and connect Graz to Klagenfurt more quickly. When I was there the Wolfsberg station was still diesel on the old Jauntalbahn and the catenary had not yet been installed. Great! If you continue like this in a year all the Austrian railways will have been mapped.

I only have one complaint about this video. It was too short. Bright sunny day, beautiful countryside, interesting townships, I could have watched it for hours.🥰 Thanks for posting.😊
Thank you for the report on the current usage of the Koralmbahn in the Carinthian section. The integration of Bleiburg is a successful connection of an existing track with a new line. The same goes for the electrification of the Lavanttalbahn up to Wolfsberg. When the Drautalbahn was constructed in the 19th century, many of the stations were located far outside the towns they represented on the station signs. This was due to both railway engineering and economic reasons.
Thanks for all your videos. This one was exceptionally interesting since it is a fully new line. Afterwards, I had a look at your Maribor/Prevalje video and it was stunning to see how your videos have developed/improved, though even the older ones were already good.
Thank you very much! I did a new video on that line from Maribor to Bleiburg (Pliberk).I will publish it in next couple of weeks. I hope you will enjoy this ride too.
I've been eating Whopper (Burger King) on this railway line to become some day, and what it today is, and walking along the line over the new bridge with no tracks on it jet, a few, or more years ago. Thank you.

Hopefully to see an high speed train between Wien and Roma/Milano soon in the future. Soon we will have three fast section through the Alps. The one in the video, another in Austria and Pontebbana in Italy (180km/h for intercity trains, so maybe an high speed train could go a bit faster). Sadly, at least in Italy, despite being flat there are not high speed lines between Udine-Bologna and Udine-soon Vicenza
Fun fact: the lower end of the Lavanttalbahn once ran into what is now Slovenia, to a junction with the Draubahn at Dravograd and then on to another junction with the former Sudbahn mainline at Celje. With the formation of Yugoslavia, the Dravograd-St.Pauli section fell into Yugoslav territory. For many years OBB continued to run trains which ran with their doors locked between Bleiburg and St. Paul, until in the 1960's Tito had a tantrum and ordered OBB out. To avoid isolating the line OBB then built the present alignment with the junction at Bleiburg.
still sad to see these new stations in the middle of nowhere... I think that Bleiburg branch did it the right way, branch-off, actually go INTO the town and then loop back to the main line. That station in town is one people can actually walk to, which should encourage most to leave their car at home
@lordeisschrank Those distant stations are exactly the reason to people use the car. I know that those are not easy decisions , to plan the new, high speed lines.

No, that is first tunnel, just a 1,7km Hengsberg Tunnel. There is a part of Koralmbahn that is built also on that side (initially just a single track without electrification), also new high-speed exit from Graz is being built.
Fermo restando l'alto valore delle riprese, domanda: a cosa servono quelle piastre forate nell'interbinario in presenza di piattarme in cemento, invece del ballast ? (a smorzare le risonanze ?). Ottimo !

I agree that the noise barriers are too high and take all the pleasure of the ride away. They could be at least a little lower so that the view would not be hindered.
@gregorklancnik8236 I just read an article about Swiss panoramic train now riding on Czech railways through Moravia with Czech Railways spokesperson Petr Šťáhlavský statement in a press release: "Additionally, the panoramic car's elevated floor allows passengers to have slightly better views, even when passing by noise barriers." I found it interesting that you can have better views despite the noise barriers.

Advantages of a high-speed line: # Faster travel from A to B # Longer cab view journeys on TH-cam are over quicker and you still have time to watch another railway video 😉😝 Disadvantages of a high-speed line: # Many sections of the route are in cuttings, tunnels or are restricted from the view of the surrounding landscape by noise barriers -> the joy of watching nature pass by is thus largely destroyed # For rail relaxation: cameras mounted on the outside of the locomotive generate extreme wind noise via the built-in microphones - which was particularly annoying on this journey at 160 km/h!!! It was very interesting to see how old existing railway lines are being modernized these days, but although the image quality was once again above all, this video will not make it into my "Top 100" of railway films 🙄 Sorry ☺️
@wandajackson3410 I am sorry for the wind sound. The faster the track is, more difficult it gets to manage the wind sound. Many times the authorisation to film forbids me to capture the sound inside of the drivers cabin, to prevent publicly sharing the conversation, the radio transmissions in the cabin...so I am always trying to do my best. Sometimes the additional microphones are not enough to get wind free sound.
@@RailRelaxation Of course I understand the technical background and also the problem with the train radio! But my somewhat ironic comment shows the main problem with these high-speed journeys: the real experience of traveling, both for the travelers themselves and for us viewers on the screen, is watching the landscape pass by, marveling at the daylight and cloud moods... Not only on the high-speed line you have shown here, this experience is ruined by many tunnels, cuts in the landscape and noise barriers!!! That's not your fault or your camera's fault, but the usual railway travel experience simply doesn't happen here 🙄🫤 Recently, for example, I watched a journey from Frankfurt to Munich via Würzburg/Nuremberg on TH-camr "TheGreeny_FV_TV": from Nuremberg, the IC 403 double traction really revs up and accelerates the train to 300 km/h on the high-speed section !!!! Short-term WOW effect... but I can't really enjoy this cab view ride because of the limitations on the field of vision that apply to all high-speed routes! This channel operator is a train driver himself and he also had to play music for a very long time instead of the driving noises because the employer doesn't allow the train radio to be shown or listened to 🤔 So please don't worry: the trip to Austria and the documentation of the current state of the route were really great when enjoyed on the big TV screen 👍🤗 The background noise and the limited visibility on the high-speed section significantly devalue this trip for me personally, so thumbs up anyway, but high-speed routes like this will never get a five-star rating from me! Best wishes 🖖
@wandajackson3410 I agree 100 percent with you. The relaxing experience for me are passing landscapes and watching the way people leave on the countryside and in the cities. I appreciate your understanding. I am always looking for the best solutions for the sound recordings, already tested various external microphones, death cats and different ways to attach the microphone. And I will keep trying. I wish you nice Sunday. Greetings from Slovenia.
NOT YET. Only parts of the Koralmbahn are open. Railjets will only start working on the line we see here when the whole Koralmbahn line is complete. That is expected in December 2025.
yes, but this is a new line where initially only regional trains will run because the second part is not yet finished, but from 2025 railjets will run there
02:21 By the way, the largest mosque in Carinthia is located near the railway, specifically on the left side as viewed by the train driver, in the Klagenfurt district of Sankt Peter.
Spannendes Video.
- The solution to the problem is very simple: turn off the sound. Alternatively, listen to music.
I'm disappointed in traveling high-speedtrains. Yes. they are fast (most of the times). But they kill the travelexperience. Because almost all of the time the views outside are blocked. Because of very often driving through tunnels, over viaducts with windscreens, through villages and cities with noise-reducing screens or walls along the railway. Even in rural areas it is very often not possible to enjoy the world outside. That makes the trainride ultimately boring, to me. These videos show that it isn't much better for the traindriver.
@karegnal Yes, it is true. There are lots of noise reductions calls along the lines and they are trying to plan those routes outside of the towns too. But, on the other side, it is interesting to see how those lines look like and all the structures on the railways..
the noise deflectors are the worst offenders imo. yes i understand their need, dont get me wrong, but they seriously should always be transparent. cus i sure love having my view blocked by them, be it that i go by road or rail
@@ZvonimirZelenika this reminds me that there are noise barriers on the bridge that crosses the Olt River on an expressway in Romania. the first time i went over it my disappointment was immesurable and my day was ruined...
Thanks for sharing this. I'm disappointed by the ugliness of the new stations. Building like boxes in stark contrast to the surrounding landscape and architecture. Really ugly.
@danielhofer9822 Danke. I did have the music background on my early videos, but figured out that people does not like it. I know that he wind sound is not so good, but with the camera outside I can get a way better picture quality.

U prosincu 2025. To je ovdje već nekoliko puta spomenuto.
Advantages of a high-speed line:
# Faster travel from A to B
# Longer cab view journeys on TH-cam are over quicker and you still have time to watch another railway video 😉😝
Disadvantages of a high-speed line:
# Many sections of the route are in cuttings, tunnels or are restricted from the view of the surrounding landscape by noise barriers -> the joy of watching nature pass by is thus largely destroyed
# For rail relaxation: cameras mounted on the outside of the locomotive generate extreme wind noise via the built-in microphones - which was particularly annoying on this journey at 160 km/h!!!
It was very interesting to see how old existing railway lines are being modernized these days, but although the image quality was once again above all, this video will not make it into my "Top 100" of railway films 🙄
Sorry ☺️
That's not your fault or your camera's fault, but the usual railway travel experience simply doesn't happen here 🙄🫤
Recently, for example, I watched a journey from Frankfurt to Munich via Würzburg/Nuremberg on TH-camr "TheGreeny_FV_TV": from Nuremberg, the IC 403 double traction really revs up and accelerates the train to 300 km/h on the high-speed section !!!! Short-term WOW effect... but I can't really enjoy this cab view ride because of the limitations on the field of vision that apply to all high-speed routes!
This channel operator is a train driver himself and he also had to play music for a very long time instead of the driving noises because the employer doesn't allow the train radio to be shown or listened to 🤔
So please don't worry: the trip to Austria and the documentation of the current state of the route were really great when enjoyed on the big TV screen 👍🤗
The background noise and the limited visibility on the high-speed section significantly devalue this trip for me personally, so thumbs up anyway, but high-speed routes like this will never get a five-star rating from me!
I guess Railjet trains are very common here?
NOT YET. Only parts of the Koralmbahn are open. Railjets will only start working on the line we see here when the whole Koralmbahn line is complete. That is expected in December 2025.
yes, but this is a new line where initially only regional trains will run because the second part is not yet finished, but from 2025 railjets will run there
Thanks.
02:21 By the way, the largest mosque in Carinthia is located near the railway, specifically on the left side as viewed by the train driver, in the Klagenfurt district of Sankt Peter.
@@heinerle456 Thanks for the info.
Spannendes Video.
@I-Love-Kaiserjager my camera is not very good in low light filming, that is why it looks so dark in the tunnel.
@@RailRelaxation Ah, so, verstehe.
hey, out of curiousity, when are you coming back to Macedonia?
@CFRTrainSpotter I do not know yet.
@@RailRelaxation right, thanks for the answer regardless, keep up the great videos!
I'm sorry, but with the wind constantly blowing into the mic this is unwatchable.
@Terepin64 I apologise for the wind. As I said before, sometimes I do not get permission to film the sound inside the cabin.
The solution to the problem is very simple: turn off the sound. Alternatively, listen to music.
I'm fascinated by the idea that you think you have copyright on some video game footage 🤣
@T.E.S.S. I do not know what are you talking about. This is a real video.

Yes - worst bit is that view from Jauntalbrücke at 0:34:40 would probably be spectacular (bridge is almost 100 meters above Drau/Drava river.
@terraincognita2221 Sometimes the new, modern architecture does not fit the place.
@danielhofer9822 Danke. I did have the music background on my early videos, but figured out that people does not like it. I know that he wind sound is not so good, but with the camera outside I can get a way better picture quality.
@@RailRelaxation ah okay
