  • @AndyTulenko

    I've seen so many videos tell me there will be a 'clicking' sound. That means nothing to me. What would really make this video stellar is to record the clicking sound so we can hear it. Auditory examples teach in moments what language can never convey. What you call 'click' I might call 'thump'.

    Mine snapped in half after a year of lack of knowledge how to fix it and a garage that promised free labour because they misdiagnosed it and were willing to repair axle free of labour just pay for part.
    After it snapped I looked up on TH-cam how to fix it and it's as simple as a 20 minute job. Did and back on the road.
    I've been working on a project car and learned a lot. but I was always being told it's a very difficult job by this garage and free sounded better than doing it myself.
    I watched an 1Aauto video and they showed exactly how to do it. Good quality videos I'm glad they show how to repair a vast amount of cars, mine was a 2005 sunfire.

  • @prestonhanson501
    @prestonhanson501 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Front driver side vibrates when accelerating. No noise at all. No leaking or damaged boot. No play when pulling on it. No indication the cv on my toyota tacoma is bad. So im startong to think that mabe its the tire but that would mean the car should always shake not just when accelerating, but my car only vibrates when accelerating. So idk how ot can be my cv axel when everything you said was a sign my showes none of those signs. It viberates only accelerating no noise at all. No leaking or cut boot. Doesnt make sence. Cant figure it out but maybe mine is just starting to go out amd isnt worn enough to make noises or give alot of play when pulling on it

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Edwin Castillo If you have rubber dry rotting then it should be replaced. The control arm bushings will make you feel shaking while you drive and the boots for the axles contain the grease inside and you don't want to hear a popping noise when its just metal to metal contact inside of it.

    I have a 2004 chevy blazer and when I stop, I hear a clunk. Especially at really slow speeds and when I attempt to back up as well, whether straight and especially if I turn either way. I had an upper control arm replaced over 5 years ago and it popped like this but not as loud and when I took it in to have an O2 sensor replaced a few years ago, the tech said he fixed the pop that I heard. He said something was loose, but cannot remember what he said it was. My bro and myself jack it up a few inches and put a spud bar under wheel and pulled up on it multiple times to check if we could replicate the clunk, but we couldn't. He pulled out on tire, 12 & 6 oclock and then 9 & 3 oclock to see if bearins and I believe tie rods were bad. Maybe it was ball joints. We could not get it to even pop a little. I have been wandering if it could beth cv axle. Someone td me to jack it up, put on jack stand a ace jack.under cotrol arm and lift a little to take tension off of all components and may be eadier to check everything moe closely. This is freaking me out. It has over 220,000 miles, so I shoukd expect things getting worn out. I just dont have the patence to work on anything, but I will have to learn because used vehicleprices are ridiculous and I know this thing probably isn't worth much, but its all we got besides my other truck which has its own problems. Could the clunk I hear sound like anything with the cv axle? I even thought that torsion bar may be to blame or even a broken motor mount. Sometimes when I put it in park from drive, the engine dies. Iwas told that a broken engine mount could cause this and may even be the source of the clunk.Ty.

    whenever I roll over a Curb or parking block.. something blunt and large like a big rock when the wheel is compressed up from making contact I hear metal on metal noise... I tried to take to the dealer several times and showed them with a test run... then when we came back to the dealer and the mechanic that was going to work on the car tried to repeat the problem they tell me they couldnt do it and they didnt see any issues... so I have had this issue for years. and I went to the dealer 3 times under the warranty and never could get them to fix it.. wondering if you have any ideas... I dont hear any clicking sounds on tight turns.. just then the front right wheel hits a sharp bump.. sounds like metal on metal..maybe the strut is compressing and the wheel stop is hitting the chassis ...I dont know... any sugggestions?

    I have a question. On my FWD car, the boots are not cracked or ripped, but when I turn left on moderate lock under some throttle, I hear clicking from the left CV joint. Probably is the same on the right too. But now I also have a problem of vibrations on the stearing wheel when driving about 120-140 km/h or so. The tyres are ballanced and good, suspenssion is good too (I had it checked by a mechanic), so it can only be the CV joint. I like driving on the fast side, even though my engine only has 75hp (but I work it hard), so I think that caused the wear of the CV joints, even though my car only has 85.000km on the clock.
    My question is can I continue to drive it like this? I don't feel like replacing semi-axels that stil "work". How likely is for the CV joint to break off completelly while driving (I know this can make the suspension parts to break as well, and wheel to get semi-detached, which leads to loss of controll of the car). Will I get warning sings when the CV joint becomes that bad, that the risk of breaking off is much higher?

      +Ауто камере Србија / Dash cams Serbia Thank you for checking us out. When there is an issue with a part especially something as integral as a CV axle, we would recommend getting this addressed sooner rather than later. Yes it may still drive for now with minor irritations of vibrating but all it would take is a decent sized pothole or turning too quickly as a high speed to have a CV break and cause much more damage than it would cost to have replaced. Ultimately this is your decision and any safety inspection regulators in your area, but we would recommend getting these switched out for new axles for the longevity of the vehicle.

    Cv joint should not have play, it is supposed to be solid so there will be no vibration when spinning. A little play in the inner cv joint will cause vibration during acceleration.

    Hi, i have a 99 Nissan Altima. I was testing it on an empty parking lot turning all the way to the right, where I could swear I heard a loud grinding noise. However when taking it to the mechanic, they tell me that it’s the right side cv axle, not left that needed to be replaced. Is this possible? Again, I almost sure I heard the sound coming from the left, however I’m 100% positive the noise comes when I really make those sharp right turns. Thank you for whoever answers.
